I'm in the process of finding a rental in Dallas as well, moving from SF. Great minds think alike.

Some people recognize that they don't know certain things about life, and keep learning and exploring and growing. Others just cling to things like school, job, family because they are too afraid to entertain the possibility that they don't know anything about life beyond that little bubble. "The fool thinks himself wise, but the wise man thinks himself a fool."

Because the right is typically too busy raising families, working middle class jobs, and running businesses to go beyond ensuring the safety and freedom of their communities from outside interference. It's the left that proactively tries to push their agenda on other states. Just look at how former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg isn't satisfied with living in the gun free zone of NYC, and instead tries to push stricter gun laws on cities across America. You don't see elected officials from conserva…

This is just another angle of feminists refusing to acknowledge that women are the gate keepers of sex. One man can impregnate hundreds of women. One woman can only be pregnant by one man. If there are 100 men and 100 women, and only one man escapes the vasectomy, he can still impregnate all 100 women, rendering the forced vasectomy of the 99 others futile.

In these studies, "single men" includes both never-married and divorced men. There is also indirect correlation: men who are more economically successful are more likely to both afford healthy lifestyle choices and have women wanting to marry them.

Ex Christian here. I had been going to church since around age 8. Stopped going regularly at age 28. Officially deconverted in my mid 30s. I am not an atheist and don't have a grudge against the church -- if anything I think the church sells out to mainstream society too much. Others have said that your shared faith is what will keep your marriage together. If you end up no longer staying in the faith, your marriage will be in jeopardy too. On the other hand would you deny your own life directio…

My plan if I decide to have kids is to do it in a non-western country with more favorable laws. I'm part of a pretty large ethnic group that is found all over the world, so no concerns about finding someone who is culturally compatible.

It's not easy to make big changes in life. It takes time. For me I finally did it when I woke up one day and could no longer let the energy of the relationship hold me back from reaching for my potential. Hope you find that moment of inspiration too. Good luck brother!

Thanks for contributing these points. #5 is what I meant by "I'm just a total aberration." I don't fit into systems, want to be free, etc, but I decided to work a decade-long corporate job that paid well as the golden ticket to financial independence. Most people don't do that -- they either drop out or lose themselves by conforming to the hive mind.

I would just ignore the overt negativity, and focus on the posts (1) occasional anecdotal reminders of how women are a liability for men and (2) the positive benefits of being single. Speaking just for myself: I haven't been severely burned by women. I just realized that my freedom is more valuable than the benefits of being in a cohabitation or marriage relationship. Being a single dude in our society is fine. Nobody is putting a gun to my head to make me get married (tax benefits notwithstandi…

If you can get that $250k-400k/year income for a few years, that will set you up very well for the rest of your life. It's worth it. In my experience the lower on the stack you go (closer to servers, kernel, hardware, etc), the less SJW/feminist/bluepill you will have to deal with. The people you might still hold those views, but the level of technical expertise required to do that work is much higher and people have better things to do than to discuss politics all day.

Still, when you consider that Texas caps alimony while e.g. California has lifetime alimony after 10 years, it's not clear that Texas is worse for men overall. At least you can request a paternity test early on to get out of it.

Here's what really bothers me, and what really pushes me to go my own way: The most conservative/traditional people who support marriage and family the most, are also the ones who just go along with the program that society gives them: schooling, excess consumption, keeping up with the joneses, etc. There is not a single skeptical or analytical bone in their bodies, that they can see what is happening, and take steps to resist. Feminists and progressives don't either, but they also don't claim t…

For me the difficulty is that most of my male friends have locked themselves into marriage and kids. That automatically shuts down most of the ability to open up to them about how I feel about not choosing that life path, and my experiences and struggles in walking my own path.

My current stance is that I would not marry in a western country, but I might in a non-western country only if I wanted kids. I haven't decided yet (I'm mid 30s). More changes would have to take place than the ones you listed in order for me to reconsider my course: Women need to slim down. A lot. Women need to stop aging so early. I don't know if that's due to sun, stress, alcohol, partying, or genes. But I still look 10 years younger. Girls still ask if I'm a student. I could not imagine being…

Fair enough. But how is this related to MGTOW or the misandrist culture? I.e. if this decline is driven by people marrying and having kids later in life, or having fewer kids, or being in childless long term relationships/marriages.

Is MGTOW really affecting birthrates? As I have previously noted, I'm not seeing men stop getting married and having kids in my real-life observations. Until I see the actual numbers of men not getting married at all (as opposed to delaying marriage into their 30s), it's hard for me to view MGTOW as more than a fringe movement that will not have any measurable impact on societal demographics. Even if MGTOW weren't a thing, I would consider declining birth rates as a common feature of highly deve…

You're missing my point. Nobody is talking about going to a different time period that no longer exists. But if you want to play that game, I'd leverage my knowledge of 500 years of science and technology to create advanced firearms and be handsomely rewarded for it by the emperor. Back to the point -- these women don't want to be married to the typical Chinese guy. I dunno if I would make the equivalence between 6B4T and MGTOW beyond the superficial level. I am not convinced that women are genuinely independent enough from society to truly go their own way. Put one of these women in the USA where they'll be hit on by more attractive suitors left and right, and they'll be singing a different tune.

A "normal life" is for women, not for men. Men are supposed to be adventurers, trailblazers, creatives. Nature designed men with a stronger innate tendency to explore a wider range of possible life paths than women. This is sexual dimorphism on a psychological level to ensure better survival of the species. The bell curve is broader for men, so to speak. And modern society's expectations for men to settle down and do the same thing as everyone else flies in the face of that.

Good for you for thinking about this early. You remind me of myself when I was at your age, thinking about getting out of a high-tax state in the US and achieving financial independence. It makes us care less about the thing we hate and care more about the thing we cherish. It allows us to put a middle finger to those and to things that negatively influence our life. It buys us a peace of mind, from the struggles of the world, and the demands of the society to just simply allow us to live and sustain a comfortable life. +1 - Whoever says "money isn't everything" has never heard of the idea of F-you money.

Selection bias. Married men tend to be men of better financial means, and hence can better take care of their health. It is not because marriage makes you live longer. It's basically equivalent to saying "Married men make more money, and men with more money live longer."

I don't fundamentally have a problem with men making tradeoffs to live in civilization. However, I do have a problem with society's use of false narratives (e.g. this and this) to get men to cooperate, rather than telling them the truth, because the truth is less convincing than the narrative.

All you have to do is look at women's real life voting patterns. Single women => vote for government support Married women => vote for less taxes on husband Since neither major political party/camp in the US is genuinely supportive of a free society, we can instead look at libertarians. M/F gap is 63/37, and even wider among millennials. Women don't want freedom, they want mommy and daddy government to take care of them. Somehow my supposedly "traditional" and "conservative" parents are unable to grasp the significance when I point out that most of my friends who got married were already living with their wives before marriage, and they continued living together in the same house afterwards. There was no difference in the actual daily reality of the relationship before or after marriage.

I'm a ex-Christian turned spiritual-but-not-religious. My current spiritual outlook is inspired by the ideas of Nietzsche and Jung more than anything else. Having a connection to "spirit" is an important part of life that gets overlooked in modern society. This does not mean that you necessarily have to follow or know "God" as an external figure, but you can also get in touch with your own divine nature through spiritual practices. In fact, the lack of genuine connection to spirit was one of the…

Looking back with a red pill lens, I still don't see evidence of MGTOW. I see a lot of red pill truths about women, such as when I observed how all the women in Silicon Valley moved to SF instead of staying in SV proper (they're not the same, despite what the recent media tells you), when there were so many guys with good careers in SV proper. They wanted the fun city life instead of settling down early with the less exciting guys who worked in well-paid corporate jobs. However, I don't see any …

I'm talking about the upper middle class (professionals who make $200k a year), not the upper class (families with tens of millions of dollars). However it still makes sense -- upper middle class think that by following the "rules" of the upper class, aka imitating them, they can also become like the upper class. That includes living in certain places, staying in career tracks to keep up income, and getting married. The upper middle class is externally more free than the upper class. There aren'…

I don't know if it's that cut and dried. I would probably have been content with a lifelong monogamous marriage with kids, since that was the ideal that was presented to me growing up. Focus on one thing at a time. You're 18, you're still young. Stop worrying about women for a year. Stop paying attention to all the Justin Biebers who are getting girls. Turn off the media. Get in shape. Study hard in college. And most importantly: improve your English grammar. People (men and women) are not going to take you as seriously if your command of language is obviously weak. MGTOW is a lifestyle not a philosophy. You either do MGTOW or you don't. Some people get to this place because of a miserable marriage or divorce experience. Others decide that they value their own freedom and independence more than women. It's certainly possible that some men here have this false consciousness you describe. That's not indicative of MGTOW as a whole.
/r/MGTOW225/03/21 06:11 PM

For those of you who think this is just incidental to modern society, here is my take: that it is fundamental to our current stage in the cycle of civilization. This is "sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive" meets "weak men create hard times." In a less civilized setting where survival is on the line, the "strong men create good times" factor keeps in check the tendency to placate and pedestalize women.

Excellent insight. To me, MGTOW is about becoming as independent as possible not just from women but from many societal pressures: parents, corporations, government. They are all part of the same Matrix. I actually discovered FIRE long before red pill and MGTOW. That's a good quote. I see it as being in touch with either your animal nature or your divine consciousness. I think of it like this: Career job - $150k a year after taxes See escorts several times a month - $25k a year Post-pussy income - $125k/year Or: Quit career job to become tutor, English teacher, bartender, etc: $40k/year, an optimistic estimate Chase women on the side: $0/year (ignoring actual costs) Post-pussy income - $40k/year High-income men pay for sex one way or another.

If you have a high-income career job, escorts make a lot of sense financially. Feel free to prove me wrong by finding some doctors, lawyers, engineers, and finance guys who are able to pull mid six-figure incomes by using their head all day AND successfully pull women at night / on weekends.

I'm not convinced it will have any impact, unless we see mass MGTOW among high-income men. Judging by what I see after working in big tech for 10 years, I wouldn't have guessed MGTOW is a thing had I not read about it on the internet. As long as we have Mark Zuckerbergs wifing up chubby plane Janes, it will continue to send a message to average women that they can get a rich tech guy.

I would pick the path that gets you the income sooner, so you can save money to build up a freedom stash for yourself, even if that means investing in gold or bitcoin instead of treasury bonds. I wonder how different it would be if 9's (or what we would currently consider 9's) were plentiful, versus super rare. Higher IQ usually translates to higher incomes, which increases marriage market value. My perspective from Silicon Valley: I live in Silicon Valley, work in a big tech company. Many of my professional friends who make six figures got married in their late 20s. I'm a rare outlier in my mid 30s. When I read about the idea of "marriage strike" in the manosphere several…

I've always suspected that the reason the old texts never described the nature of women in explicit terms like modern red pill's AWALT, is that if the mass majority of men (and not just the few elites who could understand the texts) truly understood the reality, they would be driven away from lifelong union with one of them, thus collapsing the society.

If all you are able to become in life is a gear, then it might be worth being a gear in a society that treats gears well. However, if you have the potential to become more than a gear, then becoming a gear is a tradeoff you make in society's favor. You can call it selfishness, or you can call it depriving the world of something more beautiful than just another gear.

Marriage actually makes sense from a societal perspective. It's not a scam per se, it's more of a prisoner's dilemma mechanism to ensure that the prisoners (men) play the game in favor of society's interests rather than their own individual interests.

It's not like prostitution didn't exist in pre-feminist societies. Hell, it's called the oldest profession. The patriarchal culture in India doesn't tell these men that there are other options, because then they will just wise up refuse to play the game. e.g. travel to Europe or SEA for sexual tourism. You're mostly right about the sexual revolution. It just proves my point that what's good for society is not the same as what's good for men.

The more fundamental reason why men are disposable: 99% of men are not biologically necessary to continue the society, because one man can impregnate hundreds of women. A society that is willing to sacrifice 90% of its men to survive an ordeal can have the remaining 10% of men make babies, and the next generation would have the same population as if those men didn't die. Once again, good for society, but not good for most men.

It's amazing how much you feel your stress after you experience what it's like not to have any stress, isn't it? That happened to me too. Congratulations on taking a big step to better your life!

I make good money in my career job, and money solves many problems either directly or indirectly. I never got burned badly by women. I never got into the cohabitation/marriage trap. So I don't have bitterness on that front. The reason I'm on this sub instead of e.g. r/TheRedPill is because I realized that at least for my situation, chasing women and making money are mutually exclusive.. To the extent that I did chase women, it came at the cost of my career advancement because I wasn't so dedicat…

You're right, there's negative emotions behind all this. There's a lot of tradeoffs that I've had to make in my life after learning about the game and the red pill. I have actually wanted to date more women after learning all that, but my career track has made that difficult, and to the extent that I did date, I found that it came at the cost of my career advancement -- see my post about opportunity cost. In fact, I'm in a relationship right now, but it's not the one that I would have chosen had…

Now you're just filling in the gaps between the info I've shared with your imagination. I have parents who live nearby so they constantly nag me to get married. They constantly point to my friends to pressure me. I've had to push back on that pressure for years. This is why I have to remind myself not to give into the pressure while I'm still here in my hometown because it happens to be the best place for my career field. As long as you can accept that being left behind in all manner of ways, no…

My feeling of falling behind is strictly about my career advancement. I'm not as high up on the ladder even compared to many coworkers several years younger, because I have been optimizing for other things. Sometimes this is seen as a red flag when I am changing teams at work. I don't reject relationships with women, nor have I been severely burned. But I am aware that marriage and family tend to keep you in the lifestyle trap and corporate grind.

Right there with you bro! It's the tortoise walking toward the goal versus the hare that runs on a hamster wheel. I'm looking at warmer retirement places outside the West too, where I can live like a king.

Consider the amount of effort a man (even a Chad with the best natural game) must put in to sleep with X number of women, compared to how much effort it would take a woman to sleep with X number of men. Meeting women takes time and energy. If a man is chasing a lot of women, then chances are he is paying for it in terms of building marketable skills, professional network, career, income, and wealth. Women can slut around and still end up marrying a rich guy.

Nah it was progressivism that got prostitution banned in the USA in the early 20th century. If anything, it was the lack of prostitution that gave citizens that childish view. I doubt the male residents of gold rush towns in the old west would have had childish views.

Democrats aren't going to legalize prostitution. Neither party is going to do that. Where's the push for legalizes sex work by women in the USA? If anything there is a push for women in tech which is where the money is at. And there's OnlyFans for extracting money from men. I don't see marriage declining die to men waking up. If anything it is due to fewer economic opportunities. When you look at the behavior of high-income men, you'll see that they are still lining up to get married. Among my a…

If the red pill gets mainstream "acceptance" without being watered down, then yes society will collapse. "Acceptance" being accepted by all men, because women cannot accept it unless they somehow go full-on Themiscyra Amazon and become self-sufficient apart from men. Most likely it is going mainstream in a form that is watered down, i.e. "build a better beta to serve the interests of women and society." The part that gets filtered out as part of the watering-down process is MGTOW.

To me it depends on what you're giving up (opportunity cost) in order to chase women all the time. I don't know a single serious long-term PUA with a successful career and income. While you can make money working irregular jobs, I don't see how you can sustain anything that builds long-term income if you spend time and energy and mental space chasing women all the time. OTOH If you're already rich or financially independent, it's no different than if you take up another hobby that is fun but tim…

Maybe it's just me, but I found it really hard to reconcile TRP's idea that you'll naturally get a lot of women by chasing excellence, because I work in the IT field. I think it's a double whammy of the stress of a professional career job and my degrading social skills the longer I stay in this field learning how to talk to computers all the time. Do we really see women fawning over the likes of e.g. Jeff Dean, i.e. a guy who actually works with computers, as opposed to "tech bro" founders and e…

+1 Get to a point where you're no longer writing these words about how you feel: "defensive" "avoid rejection" "awkward and insecure" "missing out" If you want a relationship, go ahead and pursue one, as long as you don't lose your way (i.e. be willing/able to walk away). It's a great way to work on your own issues. Remember: Freedom is lonely. Most people prefer comfortable chains.

Yeah but they don't talk about it aloud in public like that. As to why I returned to the US from Japan... (1) COVID rules made it hard for me to leave and reenter as a foreigner. (2) I have business to wrap up in the states. (3) Staying in Japan incurs tax liabilities after 5 years, so I wanted to deal wrap business in the US before returning to Japan (I left once I got permanent residency), hence pausing the clock on tax status.
