The "easier" it becomes to push through, the more likely it is that someone innocent is executed. That may be a price you're willing to pay, but I'd rather society not be so cavalier about handing out sentences it can't ever hope to undo if a mistake was made. Killing people is supposed to be hard and it's not a decision we should be making quickly or lightly.

I worked retail for a year and was promoted twice and went from $8.50 an hour to $12.50 an hour. This is not the typical experience. Plenty of people in retail bust ass and don't get raises. I worked fast food for years, asked for one when I had a few years experience and seniority in my position. Boss told me yes, it took months to process, and in the end I went from $7.25 an hour to $7.40 an hour. "I did it so you could too" is bullshit more often than not.

Depends on the particulars of the individual case, but even if you assume the answer is a blanket "No" then life without parole accomplishes the same goal without being completely irreversible in the cases where they found out they made a mistake - something that happens with surprising frequency. The semicolon makes it weird and is incorrect besides. It's clearly understandable without. The only thing "missing" is the implied "You" at the beginning, something that isn't unique to ebonics and is common in English. The only other thing I can see people taking issue with is "my man" but I thought that was common and widely understood slang.

Similarly, trying to say that certain behaviors exhibited by certain people are tied to their biological sex rather than their choice to act within society, well, that's kinda fucked up. But some behaviors and attitudes are closely tied to sex. It might not be a broad, nationwide policy, but thanks to Google I found several articles referencing one particular court case from the late 90s in which a guy was turned away for scoring too high. Court upheld the police department's decision. So in at least one city this used to be true and there is legal precedent stating that it's permissible. Since I can't find anything more recent I'll concede that it might not be as prevalent as reddit led me to believe. But it's also not a complete myth…

I think it's important to be very careful to avoid punishing people when the courts fail to find the defendant guilty. But I absolutely agree that if there's concrete evidence that they were outright lying - recordings, cell phone records, etc. - their punishment should be comparable to the one they tried to falsely inflict on an innocent.

There sort of is, just not in the way it's usually reported. The gap is due to fields women tend to choose and the choices they tend to make in those jobs rather than "misogyny" "pay women less because vagina" nonsense. Several times I've heard the 77 cents figure cited as if it were for the exact same job which is absolute bullshit, but the 77 figure does exist when you compare all women to all men.
