Yeah that disconnect is incredibly common, people who push hard for divorce often haven't actually run the math on their new life, they're reacting to the marriage itself rather than picturing the logistics after. She's had you handling half the mental and financial load for 18 years without fully registering it as labor. Her being upset now isn't regret about the decision, it's just the first real contact with consequences she assumed would sort themselves out.

Ask literally anyone who's been through a messy divorce without one and you'll get the same answer, get the prenup. It's not about anticipating failure, it's about defining terms while you both actually like each other instead of leaving it to a judge or lawyers to fight over later. And yes, absolutely get your own attorney, not a shared one, most states require independent counsel for it to hold up anyway, and it protects both of you from claims of coercion down the line
