Don’t use them. I spoke with them about a consultation when my divorce started and it felt like I was being bullied into buying a timeshare. They say they’re there for the husbands in divorce, but it’s all a racket. This was in Houston, so I’d suggest you search deep and find someone local, and trustworthy. I wouldn’t use a nationwide law firm if it were me. Find someone who knows the ins and outs of your local family courts.

You will always be the villain in someone else’s story, controlling the narrative is out of your hands. Hell, you already are the villain in someone else’s story and may not know it. If the relationship is dead from your point of view, do not be afraid to walk away. It may hurt, but if you refuse to give in to the depths of despair, you will walk out the other side stronger and more fulfilled. It’s hard work, but worth the effort.

If it weren’t for my family, I’d be dead and buried. Most friends turned their backs right away, the others faded anytime I’d reach out. I never even talked about the divorce and just needed out of my isolation. I lost two 20 year friendships this weekend when the husband publicly accused me of wanting to “F his wife”. Somebody else did that to mine, hence the divorce. Now, because of one moment I’ll never spend another second in their presence. Too much of a liability. It’s hard rebuilding, but…

Same here. I really wish I could say what’s on my mind, but I’d probably get banned for excessive use of four letter words.

My ex tried to introduce me to her affair partner when I dropped off my son. She showed up to deliver him in this other man’s car. I thought I’d gotten stronger, but these last few days have broken me.

I’m sorry, but when the disrespect rears its head it’s almost impossible to reign the relationship back in. I hate that Reddit’s usual response is drop them and move on, but from experience it sounds like this was over before it started.

You have to. Family law is impossible for the average man to interpret, and if your ex has a lawyer you will be out gunned at every point. Best wishes, and keep your chin up.

This is almost better than anything my therapist ever said to me.

Go read the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling right now. My father taught it to me when I was young, and it’s become my go-to that I say out loud when I’m struggling. Take care of yourself, and remember, you are the only defense your children have against whatever she has become. There’s a community always here for you. Reach out and do not struggle in silence when there is a support network ready and waiting.

I am so fucking scared that this is only months away from happening to me. I’m so sorry, brother. It’s painful and hurts now. My ex has done similar with our 3 year old and it’s already becoming a test to spend quality time with him. Stand your ground, keep on your toes, gather as much evidence as you can and remember that it hurts today, but it will get better. I promise. The truth will out.

I’m in Texas and divorced in the last two years. It took my case 5 months after everything was signed.

Pretty sure my ex watches it like a hawk…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
