Compaired to the worst of it, it is not. But it is still bad.

The first and last can be for another's gain and can be coerced. That is the main concern I can see. Also, drug addiction (not use itself) has very negative societal effects. We don't live in a bubble. I'm not saying current drug laws are sane/safe.

As a male nurse (Murse), it will take a generation from now to remove the prominent bias. It is already much better in the past 5 years from my peers (the directors can be a different matter), the issue seems to be more from family members and pts. This kind of normalizing will only help.

A good relationship is hard to find. If given the choice, most of these women probably would have gone for age appropriate people.

This is from my phone so it may be disjointed. Just a thought; poor self esteem leading to finding admiration from socially unacceptable sources. Women are less socialized to have cheating as an option the way men are (not saying it is condoned, just a bit more commonly portrayed in media). A healthy, adult relationship might prevent such events. Sure, there are and will be bi-polar, Memphis out there. I have no data to back this up, this is just an opinion.

It should terrify everyone. Just like the lack of services for those sub-acutely mentally ill and the lack of health care for those in that gap between fully employed and eligible for state/federal assistance. Those are issues of funding. Public health funding has to deal with the health belief model or - how could this imminently effect me. It will require some heavy lifting in changing people's minds about men's health, especially the minds of men. We also need to understand how to "market" me…

Calm down there. My point is that the research is out there, it is a known problem and that there are folks out there moving to make it a goal to reach these people. Women are diagnosed with depression more often than men. Not that the prevalence is necessarily greater. The fact that the person calling you did not know these facts does not surprise me, as they were probably hired to do the calls and had no training and no client face time. In public health circles, it is a known issue that weste…

I think the socialization also disallows men from doing so.

I am confused. So, wanting to go out and do something to support men who are getting shoved out of the picture of support is getting gleefully downvoted where the comment being pessimistic and dismissive of trying to be the change is getting pure upvotes. Does not compute.

... Or you can actually do something about it. Just so you know, things are changing and more focus is being drawn to this. I know of 5 organizations in 3 states with their original missions being for teen mothers and have evolved into serving both genders, providing counseling services, life training (cooking, balancing checkbooks, basic health teaching, etc.), and sex ed. All it took was someone in the organizations saying "hey, ignoring these boys is stupid. They are the other part of this eq…

As a nurse working in mental health, you are quite wrong. It is well known that men are better at killing themselves, as they chose more effective ways of doing so. Much of our problems with male suicide comes from a lack of cues to those around them + masculine pressures to be emotionally impenetrable. This is yet another reason that gender structures are bad for all. Allowing men to be themselves and express their emotions in a constructive manner without gender boundaries (from crying to gett…

Well played, your troll arts are at their pinnacle. Also, Axis II does not need be a psychopath. Axis II does indeed take into account your past that would make you callous. May you never encounter someone who cares so little as you do when you need a helping hand.

What a piece of scum, that one is. Got drunk, flashed and that was rape. Was she covering for her embarrassment?! I really can't think what was going on in her twisted little mind.

You keep avoiding the point by striking out at what you believe were my intentions, not what I have been saying. Let's make this more pointed: Why do you gleefully portray a lack of empathy toward others on the internet? Is this just a thing you do to occupy your time or are you really as you say you are? From what little I have read from your writing, it seem like you attack instead of discuss. How many times have you used the phrase "fuck off and die" in the past day? By the by, wondering abou…

Actually, I was never going to say anything about your datability. The reason that the golden rule exists in multiple religions is that it is a damned good idea to have people in a group think about the welfare of others, as we are, even though you seem to hate the idea, tied to each other.

I was hyperbole. Your general lack of empathy that you portray on the Internet is unsettling. Also, your lack of perspective is sad. You likely won't care, as you are such an angry little person, but you need to step back, breathe and maybe start thinking about others. I hate to bring any religious overtones into this, but there is a reason that variations on the golden rule exist in most religions. I guess it was my upbringing, but just letting anyone be assaulted is not something that I could …

Depression is not OCD. Depression is not schizophrenia. Depression is not any of the personality disorders. Did you have MDD? Are you currently under treatment? Do not equate your dysphoria to psychosis. It is a whole different game.

Hi. I actually work with the mentally ill and you are an idiot. Just saying. No, I am not just saying. It is people like you that perpetuate the foolish idea that people with horrible mental illnesses can just snap out of it and control their brains. It does not work like that and it has never worked like that. Quit using your foolish, unfounded beliefs to prop yourself up. Go have some empathy and volunteer with the people that are out of institutions and then realize that when they de-compensa…

It actually is not "married." It is about the support systems. Murders don't happen, usually, due to a single moment. It is a build up of stressors that leads to a horrible act. So, knowing if they were with someone else who was sharing the stress, knowing their socioeconomic status, their outside supports, their mental health history, etc. would be very important to understanding these statistics. That, and when you consider that the single parent households have a predominantly mother lead dyn…

Really, really, good post, and can be said for the MRA movement as well. It can seem to outsiders like most of us are misogynists because of the loud, brash few.

No, ALL Men's Rights Advocates most definitely deserve to be 'lumped together'. The only reason they're complaining now is because it's not being done to benefit them, for once. Does that sound absurd to you? Yah, it does to me too.

No, he (I am assuming here) is saying that there are parts of it that are responsabile for the trespasses. Just glancing over his comment I got that. Are you really saying this or are you just trying to get a rise?

No. No that is not true... shudder it CAN be, but I have had some horrific tempeh bacon. Tho, I still wonder why it can legally be called bacon... Meat candy, it is not.

Wow. Holy shit, what a douchebag. I just perused her comment history and I am having SUCH a hard time coming to your conclusion. Here is a bit of reality for you: some jobs pay better than others with the same level of education. Most people in mature relationships learn to live with their disparities, be they financial or in their strengths/weaknesses in order to make things work. Looking through your comment history, it seems you are a chest beating, macho, extremely false person who likely is…
