The best way I’ve come up with describing OLD is, to use a monetary example, it should be used as the “passive income” of the dating world whereas your “main source of income” should come from real life interactions in areas of interest or through social circles. Provided you are doing what you can to improve yourself OLD can be very fruitful, but it shouldn’t be the sole means by which someone interacts with the people they would potentially want to date

I wouldn’t say more gullible to those stories, although that can play a part for sure as it would in real life. I’d say that men by and large have been inundated with said stories online, and have also been inundated with people who are selling them on the “solutions” or “realities” of dating via social media algorithms so they’re digging their heels in and assuming the worst to protect themselves. It can cause a lot of issues for men and women who are dating, and I think is a bit of a different…

we used to call this flirting. And it was subtle. You let a guy know you’re interested and attracted. I don’t disagree with this point (in fact I very much so agree that’s how things should work) but in my opinion that very subtlety of flirting and no sex, contrasting with the explicit nature of men having heard stories online about women having had a ONS or FWBs before, is the contrast a lot of men can’t get past. Right or wrong, it becomes “okay she’s flirting with me and she seems to like me,…

More often than not tbh. Many people aren’t the greatest at taking advice and applying it to a situation effectively. My overarching point on the women’s side is “okay, you’re making him wait. That’s fair of you and is your right. What are you doing to show your interest as you wait that makes it clear you value him, his time, his effort, etc.?” Men owe this consideration to women as well, but seeing as our culture sees men as the ones who are to initiate the relationship in general, that’s proo…

Who said anything about negotiating? Clarifying your sexual interests, proclivities, and kinks (if applicable) in a calibrated conversation about sex is what I’m referring to here. It’s not “we’re doing xyz, period” - it’s being clear that “I’m personally a fan of xyz” when sex comes up beforehand, and not waiting and hoping it naturally comes up after the fact

The continual back and forth on the whole “she did this for them but not me” conversation is tiresome to continue to read, but in my mind ambiguity about this topic is the problem here, and both parties play into it. I think men need to nut up and speak up more and earlier about what they expect from a woman sexually, because if they don’t say what they want they won’t get it and if they wait too long it could damage a relationship. In converse, I think women need to establish a clear manner in …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
