Your field and the people in it, sans you yourself, sound insane.

You might have a harassment claim against your incel former friend. Talk to an attorney. And talk to them about a wrongful termination suit. They fired you based on rumors? I've had something like that happen to me and I almost pursued a wrongful termination suit.

I think it's negativity bias in media. You don't see much coverage of men's issues unless you seek it out on forums like this, or consult a commentator or academic who specializes in it. Dr. Peterson, Warren Farrell, Geoffrey Miller, David Buss etc. However, true crime is a very popular media theme right now, and the lion's share of cases covered often are the very few evil and vindictive men in our society. The podcasts I consume do cover black widows and violent women (Jodi Arias as an example…

Say it was an accident, and invite them to look at security footage if she's a Karen about it. I'd also mention your diagnosis as a kind of reinforcement b/c HR is going to be more hesitant to take corrective action against someone with a social disability, respectfully. I don't think your autism has anything to do with this instance, but you have to play the cards you're dealt.

You aren't pretentious, comrade. You're just discharging well-founded annoyance at the humblebragging of (mostly middle class, white) feminists who somehow need everyone to clap for them. We are EXPECTED to be independent, so we don't get any credit. The whole point of being independent is that you DON'T need anyone else's attention or approbation for the things you get to do or accomplish by being IN-dependent. The average Western woman is not recovering from a Nicholas Sparks novel story of es…

They are often never consistent with their stance on humor. They are allowed to make dark, edgy jokes, but they freak out if they are made in their direction. In male spaces I don't often see that same level of dark humor, no mugs with "female tears," etc.

I think this is the big white elephant in the room no one wants to talk about. We've been "liberated" to the point that we are isolated and unfulfilled.

It's an interesting self-own: Feminists, by pushing SO hard for gender abolitionism in social norms, are making chivalry obsolete in ways MRAs never could.

I watch more true crime than a 20 year old white girl, so I'm not casting judgment when I say that true crime content creators (even those who did good victim advocacy) should discuss this more. The "creepy dangerous man" trope doesn't make us safer at all - it alienates vulnerable women from the lion's share of good men who can be their allies. It's Psychopaths, Sociopaths, and Narcissists vs. The Rest of Us. It's not a gender thing at all, except that guys usually have a physicality advantage,…

I definitely see myself as part of the gender egalitarian (left wing) of the men's movement, as opposed to the tradcon (right wing) of it. I think it's not much different than any other ideology, like feminism, where you have different subcategories of feminists.

You'll learn that this is true, on an aggregate level, in any Intro to EvPsych class. The problem is using this to stereotype or pass judgment on what an individual should be like. Signed - a man who prefers to work with people.

The only frame of reference I had was an MRA, Stefan Molyneux, citing that as the reason men get the short straw in divorce court.

My understanding is that no fault divorce came on the books in the US in the 80s, and that resulted in a cash cow for attorneys and an eternal pissing match between Man and Woman.

We are behind you! Get a good attorney and gather round some character references for your son, as well as any possible witnesses. I'd ask if his arrest was even lawful, given they have no probably cause or evidence.

I think there is a cultural clash coming down the pike where Millenials, Zoomers, and younger aren't going to marry or pair bond near the rate that their parents do. Whether or not you see this is a matter of freedom empowerment, or a recipe for dying alone and sad is the cultural clash itself.

This was a missed opportunity to learn about how to interpret statistics and the social context behind them, and you were shut down for trying to have that conversation. I give you massive cred for sticking to truth and critical thought in the midst of social pressure.

I think it only makes sense to ask who has it better in a specific context, so we'd have to narrow this down in order to get to any meaningful conclusion. That's what annoys me about this topic and how it is often talked about (not you or your post).

I think that goes to show there are certain scientific "laws" of gender dynamics just like anything else, that are probably a result of how we evolved.

Italian boy - can confirm. Managing conflicts between Mom vs Girlfriend will make you want to drink Windex, crawl into a ditch, or lay in the middle of a busy intersection.

I'm trying to view it both through the lens of women who would likely be made uncomfortable and the mindset of the fellow doing it. I'm going to say that a write-up gives him the chance to change his behavior and be better at his job. It's kind of a centrist solution, if you will.

This literally the worst iteration of cancel culture. I work in hospitality management and I agree he should get written up or a talking to about his verbiage w/ woman clients. But it's also a completely different culture than where I am in the US, so I don't know the social norms around man-woman interactions.

Society is trending that way, because of a myriad of bullshit like this and office politics that no gender seems to want to deal with anymore.

This is actually transphobic, and I'm surprised what feminists will say about this. So do I have to like send in my maxipads if I'm a trans man or non binary person with lady parts (hypothetically) to prove I deserve this program? It's like what Desantis wants to do with monitoring periods for teen girls in sports. I'm worried this whole cultural fixation on gender politics will give a green light for the state to whittle away at the right to privacy and autonomy.

I really appreciate you having the courage to talk about your beliefs publicly. I would challenge your view that anyone has a "place" they have to be due to their gender. Be in the place that makes you happy, and hopefully you find that out as you grow up. Some people search for it forever, sadly, but you seem not afraid to take risks and explore new ideas. What you said about both men and women needing one another is a really awesome insight and I'm so thankful you were raised in a household wh…

I'm a (sort of) Marxist, so it always soothes my soul when I see a post by an MRA or feminist that really highlights the economic effects on gender dynamics. I sometimes think we want all the benefits of modernity without the implicit messaging that people are reducible to economic units, and it just doesn't work like that. I wish everyone were as socially aware as you.

This well put together, successful, handsome fellow is evidence that the notion that angry incels, low effort neckbeards, and psycho mass shooters are not representative of marginalized men in our society. Yet that's what gets publicized. People would go completely mental if you generalized like that with any other group....women, Muslims, immigrants, etc.

You guys will definitely be in my thoughts. Please do update us on the case. I try to be optimistic that the law will evolve in these areas. "Politics is downstream from culture." - Andrew Breitbart

If you're comfortable with saying, which geographic region are you in? Depending upon the law in your area, there are probably lawyers that would produce an excellent case against the ex if she tries to sue for child support or alimony. OR to at least have your partner have a say in the child's safety and welfare.

Well good to know! Guess I'll stay. I did see Jacinda Ardern retired. I think she really went overboard on the lockdowns and now she's regretting it, seeing how pissed even people who voted for her are.

It's b/c they were programmed to think in terms of oppressor vs oppressed , with no nuance at all, just like, unfortunately and ironically, the type of people who have the cultural power to program AIs.

I'm in the US but follow Rugby and I'd say they do a very good job at talking about how these men successfully navigate challenges in their lives as men/husbands/fathers. The NZ All Blacks (my fav team) have some great mini docs on their YouTube channel about their flyhalf's daily routine of being a dad/going to practice/weight training. And then one of their bigger scrummers beating an alcohol addiction en route to making it big. Very inspiring. The also do a great job of highlighting the contr…

This is a really good gene-culture coevolutionary analysis. If I didn't know better, I'd think that was written by an eminent sociologist. I think what you're outlining is how neo-capitalism really drives us into our own silos, where we are all a "brand" on social media and not holistic individuals. That's why I think you get a bias toward men only having status at ATMs and being considered unworthy if they aren't extroverted and the life of the party.
