Speaking from personal experience, there is very little chance she’ll own up to what she did or apologize. That would require her to have self awareness and be honest with herself. In my opinion, the women who do these things aren’t emotionally equipped to own their actions. Here’s an example from my 24 year marriage. 12 years ago my ex had an affair with an internet predator. We went through extensive therapy including a rigorous curriculum with the Affair Recovery Center in Austin. After a lot…

Well, that is the hardest part! I can attest to that.

Prophetic words right there. Thank you

How long has it been for you? I really hope I get past all this pain, anger and sadness. It really sucks and makes it hard to function at times.

Great input, thanks!

Thank you for sharing your experience. First, there is not a chance in this universe I would ever, ever, ever get back with her. No way! I’m only looking to see if it’s normal to periodically (rarely) miss her. We were married for 24 years, together for 28+. I have plenty to keep me busy because my girls live with me in the house they’ve always lived in. I’m not eager to date, but hope to find somebody when the time is right. Bottom line, it’s such a weird time and tough to make sense of the ran…

The 830pm bedtime sounds right for my ex too. Although she wasn’t getting up at 430 to workout! Nor did she cook much. She just complained about “doing it all” for the kids, despite the fact I was doing most. I can’t complain she lacked interest in sex, but it was definitely on her terms. But honestly, I don’t miss that part. It just wasn’t worth putting up with all the other crazy bs.

Ouch. That stings. My ex was petite, outwardly naive and very innocent looking, which was enough for most people to give her a pass despite bad behavior. Men never get the benefit of the doubt, even when our behavior would support it.

Sounds like we were married to twins. Hang in there. Those circular arguments are impossible. There’s no logic to be had, ever, amiright? What’s the saying….its like trying to play chess with a pigeon. You don’t get anywhere and still get crapped on.

Treating my daughters to some cupcakes while trying not to think about the recent ex celebrating with her latest teenage romance.

Thank you. I’m so sorry to hear your story. There are some similarities, no doubt. My ex has said she’ll always hold a special place in her heart for our 30 years together. For some reason, hearing those words makes it hurt worse. Be strong, man

Yep, I can relate. I often wish I could stop caring for her, but it’s tough after 24 years marriage and knowing each other for 30 years.

Yeah, she’s mental. And I don’t use that word lightly. I think her therapist is also empowering her to be firm in her stance of crazy. I just hope my girls are ok, and know how hard I’m working to take care of them in this mess. I guess that won’t be known for years down the line, but I’m hopeful. While I’d never ever do anything to harm myself, I can understand how this type of situation drives people to the brink. All those dateline episodes make more sense now.

Thanks. This forum sure helps remind me I’m not alone. Sorry to you as well.

It sucks. I’m sorry to hear that. And let me guess, her friends are lining up to “make sure she’s ok” and take her to dinner etc. meanwhile, your guy pals have vanished into thin air? It’s exhausting.

Preaching to the choir on those fears! I know it well. Worried I’m too small for others, which is dumb since I know it’s not true. My ex was flat out terrible at oral. So there’s that. Personally I’m tired of being driven by fear of the unknown. Maybe because I’m finding out how bad it can be right now. I guess time will tell how it shakes out.

Out of curiosity, is your sex life any good now? Mine wasn’t with my ex. It was ok at times. That fear of the unknown can be a powerful influencer.

Yes, I have been extremely unhappy for years but I was fearful of the same thing you are. And yet, here I am. Here’s another crazy part - it’s not as though sex with her was amazing. It wasn’t. But I still couldn’t fathom her with somebody else. Your question is a good one. Honestly I don’t have a good answer. I suspect that being with somebody else would help me move past things. But I don’t really want to seek anybody out and go through that hassle just yet. Maybe I should reconsider.

Wow, just wow. Sorry you went through that. Yeah, my ex cheated twice (that I know of) in our marriage. She deeply apologized to me the day our divorce was final. Yet 3 weeks later she takes no responsibility and blames my relationship with my Mom and sister. Mind you, I cared for my Mom while she died of cancer. And I have t spoken to my sister in 2.5 years. There’s absolutely no logic to be had.

I hear you. He’s 10 years older than her and seemingly has no online history. Yeah, right. She’s being suckered and has no clue.

We speak as it relates to caring for our girls. Unfortunately the conversation strays too much. I’m trying to get that under control and minimize all dialogue to only essential.

I just have no interest right now. I’m so busy with everything, I can’t even think of dating.

Yep, sounds like we’re in a similar situation to an extent. It’s crazy. I know she’s naive and emotionally immature. In a sense I always felt like her protector. And she liked that. Until she didn’t. It blows my mind to think she’s dating. Prior to knowing she was dating, things were civil. While still civil, I can no longer stomach doing anything together even if it’s for our girls. Honestly I’m embarrassed I’m not “macho” enough to just put her out of my mind.

Thanks, man. That really helps give me hope. Trying to be a Dad to my daughters, keep the household going and work is all too much.

Yes it’s awful. Take care of yourself and cut her off in every way possible. She will keep bouncing, for sure.

I’m so sorry, man. It’s a truly miserable feeling. One word of advice. Try to avoid learning any further specifics. It will only cause more issues to work through. I speak from experience. One day at a time. You are already one day closer to moving past this terrible chapter in the book of life.

I did. Our case was finalized last week. The morning of the final hearing she was sobbing how sorry she was. The next day she was staying with her latest boy toy.

Wow this sounds so very familiar. A wife with unaddressed trauma….sees a therapist…..leaves me and her teen daughters. Wild.

Yep, to add more craziness…..she originally put a down payment on an apartment 6 months earlier than when she moved out. She backed out for some reason. So she was very deliberate in leaving us. I’ll admit it’s hard witnessing her teenage crush. I still think of her as my wife, strangely. But each passing day helps that feeling fade. She’ll end up with an STD, heart break and knowing she abandoned her daughters. Heck, I asked her to do one thing - make sure the girls have a supply of pads and ta…

Yep, judge approved everything last week. Of course she now feels she deserved more. But the judge explicitly told her “there are no redos or give backs. This is FINAL. Do you understand?” lol. The judge knew

I hear ya, but in the midst of the storm, I’m trying to make sure I’m not the crazy one! She’ll never accept any fault, ever. That’s not the intent. Just making sure I haven’t lost my bearings while navigating this storm.

Thanks man! I hope you’re right! She behaves with such ignorant arrogance that she’s won mother of the year for her sacrifices.

She’s 46 - bingo! And objectively, an emotionally stunted 46. She’s acting like she has a new teenage crush - so disturbing to witness, since she’s a Mom of two teenage girls that could use her presence. But I’ll keep doing the best I can as a single Dad! Let me say, all this feedback from y’all is incredibly cathartic. I’m not looking to ever get back with her or dwell on her illogical thinking…..but being in the midst of the chaos is disorienting!! I question my sanity on a daily basis when sh…

Did your sons feel that way immediately or down the road? In my case, she cheated with an internet predator about 12 years ago. We went through intensive affair recovery work with a top notch outfit across the country. She played the part very well and fully recommitted to our marriage. 10 years later she was cheating with my best pal via text. Our daughters know because they are close friends with his kids. The whole situation stinks. Seeing her focus on dating at the expense of her daughters, …

Thanks. I have let her go, as I’ve learned how a cheater will always be a cheater despite what they promise. What bothers me is her view that she deserves Mother of the year award for “sacrificing so much” for her daughters.
