I struggled too. My divorce was final weeks before COVID quarantine and I just got used to being alone & in my own head most of the time. Went through a period of destructive behaviors with the free time and loneliness. Couldn’t find much joy in many “hobbies”. I think it depends on the woman… my ex was avoidant-leaning, was maybe chronically ambivalent and had a limited capacity for sustained closeness. If I stopped being the nice guy and stopped trying to lead connection it might have bought me some time, but doesn’t necessarily mean she would have eventually leaned in either. I think in that case it just lingers as a casual / low-pressure connection that hits a ceiling and never becomes a full relationship.
