I think that’s where we may disagree: the question of whether men and women are naturally preprogrammed for roles before birth, or whether the roles (and the very ideas of the words “man” and “woman” themselves) are a social construct. I was raised to believe that women and men are inherently different (and are born different), and therefore “should” act and speak in certain ways. The idea was that even if my natural instinct and what I want is to play with legos as a kid, I’m not allowed and I …

Yes exactly. I (in general) agree with you that men and women express emotions differently. The only thing we may not agree on is whether men have the innate ability to express their emotions as freely as women do. Because they absolutely are capable of that. Women and men tend to be socialized differently in terms of what’s acceptable emotional expression. Which is sad, because it creates a divide between men and women and a lot of imbalance. We’re all human beings and we all have emotions and …

No. Men are not less emotional than women. Women and men are (generally, not always) socialized differently, which results in different attitudes towards emotions, acceptance of emotions, and different emotional expression or lack thereof.

What do you think being liberal, progressive, and modern means? That women have the right to vote, control their OWN bodies, get a credit card by themselves, and more? Men have traditionally had those rights and have never had to ask permission or do things in secret for fear of being beaten, ridiculed, or controlled. Why wouldn’t women be progressive when it benefits them? If progressivism means that women finally get to do…

Emotional intimacy is very real, and it’s beautiful. It’s also about being vulnerable, and that’s difficult and scary sometimes. But that’s what it is. It’s so rewarding. You probably know more about emotional intimacy than you think. It’s hard to describe sometimes probably because it’s a feeling more than anything else, and can’t always be explained logically as a step by step process.

He also said “physically fit.” There’s a range between simply not being fat and being physically fit, or at the very least it’s open to interpretation by different people. I think whether someone believes he has high standards or not depends on what physically fit means to them.

My husband is 5 10 and I dated a guy once who was 5 4. The most important thing about someone is what’s on the inside, not outside.

You’re only 25. :) you haven’t screwed up or done anything to seal your fate for the rest of your life. You are the one who controls what you do in the future. Love and take care of yourself first, before finding a girlfriend, and be confidently yourself.
