Social pressure works on keeping society healthy. Social pressure can work in bad ways too, we should beware. Shame alone would also probably not be as good as alternating shame with support like offering to spot their form for lifting.

clarification of "to check it out alone" or "check it out with her" would certainly be helpful in this analogy. I'm assuming the author intended to imply the former. Other context might matter: like maybe the husband owns a bulletproof vest sized to him and has firearms training? The wife should of course get that two so they can double-team the intruder.

I think whether or not this is outrageous depends on how far along a relationship is and whether or not there's sort of an implied consent for one party to initiate contact with the other party during moments of non-perception. For example: if your partner is asleep, it's usually not considered creepy to hug/cuddle them while sleeping together. They're not awake and actively consenting to that. So where is the line drawn?

the term femcels seems strange to me, you'd think that would stand for female celibates and include those identifying as incel and volcel alike, with "femincel" and "femvolcel" being more specific, but in practise that's not the case? I suppose in fairness it should then also be "malincels" and "malvolcels" too? Of course I see the in/vol distinction as largely imaginary, because it is a CHOICE to be a civil law-abiding non-rapist, after all, unless one is locked in solitary, lost in the wildern…
