Feminist interviewer asks Bill Blurr a leading question; "Can women be funny" - Blurr nails itI do wonder if there are any differences in outward expressions of objective humor between the sexes, though. I asked my boyfriend recently if he thought I was funny. He answered, "You're very funny...for a girl." My immediate reaction was defensive (whattdya mean, "for a girl"?!) but I thought about it for a second and realized I barely know any girls or women that I would describe as "funny", whereas I know plenty of guys that I would describe that way. Purely anecdotal, but it makes me wonder… | /r/MensRights | 28/07/14 06:17 PM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape.Better in that it's an established term within the kink community. Its parameters are pretty well-defined. It avoids the negative connotations of the word "rape" and specifies that is a consensual act - which is apparently necessary, given the grey areas that seem to have come out in this thread. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consent_(BDSM)#Consensual_non-consent | /r/MensRights | 30/12/13 06:45 PM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape. There is a whole school of thought in philosophy dedicated to the idea that mind and body are separate entities, actually. A great many people have thought it to be genuine. I get that you're arguing for academic purposes but it is problematic to actually try this hard to validate such a damaging point (which, I'll point out again is gender nonspecific). At the end of the day, my body does not consent to have sex, I do. And maybe we can argue for their connectedness on some philosophical level, … | /r/MensRights | 30/12/13 03:17 AM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape.I'll put this simply with an analogy. I might want to eat nothing but chocolate forever, but my body certainly doesn't. I might want to self-injure or kill myself, but my body doesn't want that for me. And my body might think it appropriate for me to experience a physical orgasm during an act of rape, but I might not want to be having sex. | /r/MensRights | 30/12/13 02:40 AM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape.Ha, thank you, I tried. I hate seeing people like this is /r/MensRights, is all. Gives the whole group a bad name. | /r/MensRights | 29/12/13 10:48 PM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape.Holy fucking double speak batman! That's actually a proper fetish name in the kink community. Google it. It means giving consent prior to the act wherein you act as though you were not consenting. It's a friendlier term for "rapeplay". ...a consensual rape by someone that can't give legal consent due to their age? ...what? I'm distinguishing here between wanting to roleplay rape between consenting partners and unintentional orgasm during the crime of actual rape, and saying that the two are unre… | /r/MensRights | 29/12/13 10:34 PM
from a Facebook post about clothing and rape.No. No no no. Wanting to roleplay rape (a better term is consensual non-consent) is not even in the same ballpark as having an orgasm during actual rape. That is dangerously close to saying that "she wanted it" on some level. An orgasm is primarily a physiological response that can be triggered with enough physical stimulation (much in the same way that having an erection happens sometimes even when you don't want it to). The two aren't related at all. EDIT: spelling | /r/MensRights | 29/12/13 06:25 PM
Sexist word processorYep, I did! As a female writing an article on feminism, though, this just struck me as rather funny. | /r/MensRights | 13/12/12 01:51 PM
