Literally just found out I am in there too. I found someone’s story about the female perspective in a male dominated field and I said something like ‘as a male, this was interesting to here. Thanks for sharing”. Now the comment is solidified in that subreddit. Obviously this person has some kind of problem with stating our gender and it’s probably because of some misguided sense of powe dynamic something Who knows.

Evolution has it's part but conventional beautiful changes with time.

Your question is ignoring history. What is beautiful now wasn't always considered optimal. Besides that, having genetic diversity is good for our species in general. Environmental factors come into play during our development - so our appearance is not just a genetic function.

I don't think right wingers are simple but in my opinion, the rhetoric I've read on TRP is simple and reductionist. The reason why that is a problem is that people and relationships are complex. It's important to understand that there is uncertainty, otherwise we get some funky theories. Also, its interesting to see how BP suggests women aren't always looking for the strongest man while RP says strongest man always - why is it that both ideas can't coexist? I'm honestly not sure if I subscribe m…

Mind telling me what the scientific method is?

I can't convince you if you don't know what the scientific method is.

I understand the sentiment but psychology is governed by scientific principles. It has to deal with more confounding variables. I agree that this study alone shouldnt stamp a seal of a certification that this behavior is law - it isnt. If you want a better idea of what research is telling us, a review of several studies would be needed and those do exist.

Your observations aren't as reliable as a carefully planned and implemented study of the behavior. I mean.. did we really need the newtonian equation for gravity? Of course, because its one thing to know something happens and its another to know why it happens. Also the results suggest that the hasslehoff/cloony scenario is less likely to occur than you may believe, give women a little more credit. You're not autistic but I wouldn't call you a scholar either.

I understand. One of my best friends (known him for 13 years) even has a hard time bringing up whats on his mind. His gf mentioned he was feeling insecure about his body and it took a week or two for the right moment to come up to ask. He told me he's been feeling that way for years! Apparently all of his guy friends from college made fun of him for a time and he felt like he couldn't talk about it without ridicule. So I definitely get it and hopefully you can find someone with good ears.

You should consider being more open about your insecurities. Doesnt have to be loud statements. Giving people some knowledge of whats going on behind the eyes has generally been a positive experience by enriching my friendships.

Not that I necessarily disagree with the overall result of this study. It's worth noting that the subjects were all 2nd year Harvard medical students. This might be problematic in analyzing results discussing salary.

Being slightly awkward and pensive has worked for me. I'm not walking down vag-ville but I think being genuine in demeanour and simply being around for conversation has simultaneously scared girls away and drawn others in. Maybe I'm content because I'm looking for a partner rather than one for the night. (Not looking down on that btw). I guess what I'm saying is understanding your anxieties are natural and some women will understand them (they've done it too) helps halt the positive feedback loo…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
