The problem with endometriosis research is that it requires women with it to step forward for rather invasive studying of their body. There are more bald men than there are women with endo. So not only is the testing pool bigger but its also much less invasive given that a big ass head isnt as sensitive.

Their policy positions were better. That should be enough. Trump didnt actually offer anything. Dude got on a debate stage and said he wanted to tear down our current largest healthcare coverage system for his idea of "concepts of a plan" which he couldnt produce after 8 years. Unless... you somehow think Trump had a better platform?

I dont think its that women can do no wrong, its that this was the easiest test of our lives and we failed collectively. I genuinely question the sanity of anyone who thought Trump was the best option unless they were already insanely wealthy and well connected. Both Clinton and Harris had an abundance of flaws. Every candidate does. But especially after Trump one I have a lot of hatred for his voters. It should have been easy. Oh well.

Yeah man I wonder what would happen if a group of people mocked AOC. That NEVER happens. Especially regarding how she sounds or looks.

Thats actually how it got its start on TikTok. It wasn't taken as a serious thing it was taken as something guys need to be fearful of and hurled at them as an insult.

Karoline Leavitt got blasted by leftists and the greater portion of the democratic party with very zoomed in high definition pictures of her face showing her injections. Brother it got to the point where they had to lie and claim it was photoshopped. Sarah Huckabee Sanders used to get clowned on at the regular.

The left bodyshames women too, lets not be silly. Bleach Blonde Bad Built Butch Body is significantly worse than anything AOC has said about Stephen Miller's appearance. And it was said by another woman. People literally made t-shirts and followed MTG around the airport harassing her with the insult. You either forgot, werent looking, or being dishonest. Im not gonna prescribe which one but im concerned that many in this sub arent actually LEFTwing male advocates.

Its definitely not the way forward but that's just... sorta how people are as people. I'd advise you to not look to the left as some concept, view them as people. The right will bodyshame any sort of man when they think they're a bad person, they'll body shame any sort of woman as well. We literally have pages of nicknames from the rights leader that they enthusiastically cheer for. The left will do the same as well. Because that's just sorta what humans do. I do think that it isn't good, and I …

Good intentions, bad takeaway from the people. To this day I don't blindly believe accusations, I don't blindly dismiss them either. Even if we go with the hyper conservative estimates we're dealing with about a 2% false accusation rate of those that actually make it to trial (which is a key distinction), but even with that you never know when you're dealing with one of those 2% chances. Statistically some case that we've dealt with in the public eye has to have been false. I'd rather not preemp…

Hard disagree on manosphere dating advice. I dont think being a good person, cleaning up, and taking care of yourself is truly awful. It sucks because its the same surface level shit everyone preaches like its the real answer. Getting your money up and having discipline, is probably the two things I'll say redpillers get right in terms of male dating.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/12/25 10:23 PM

Why does dating advice to men suck ass? Its always the same overly generic shit that doesn't actually address the problem. Every one of these videos follows the same format and just turn into "generic dating 101 for a guy"

That's sorta illustrating my point. In a perfect world (aka the one that I want) NO ONE should be drafted. But the world we live in currently has plenty of places where it happens and for good reason. Because we can't fundamentally shift the world for peace we should ask ourselves "Why is it okay that only certain demographics are drafted"
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/12/25 09:50 PM
38

I think its not a fair take because it doesnt really engage with the topic. No one should be drafted, but currently people are. So is it actually alright that only one demographic is subject to this?

Its not something I enjoy, I understand that right now black men are below black women on the totem pole of acknowledgement. I just want policy that'll help us out first before I really dig into id/po. Which so far he seems to want to deliver on. We'll see in the coming months and i'll recalibrate my priorities when it comes to him then if he doesn't deliver.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/11/25 06:57 PM

So I think we can acknowledge the double standard while not freaking out about it. He didnt exclude men, he just saw none of them as having value for that role. Hes done really well with young men in the city by focusing on issues that are important, but not specific to them. We'll see how things play out. Admittedly, I did dislike the way he skipped over black men in his speech. But thats just a part of life I suppose.

Okay, well I see your flair but i'll answer because other people may be curious. There should be identical standards for republicans and democrats. Pretending that "one is the party of empathy and so that means I should nitpick while I let the other off the hook" is silly given what both parties actually don't make dissimilar claims when it comes to morality and how they want to be perceived by others. If you value kindness, empathy, or whatever the OP was talking about that's fine but hold that…

I'm not disagreeing with that in terms of factually speaking on what happened. I'm saying that's objectively it was the wrong choice. We let our countries go in flames because we didn't feel motivated enough as a population, people have died, and will die directly due to that inaction. If the democrats need to come out and universally slam AOC for being mean in response to dealing with misogynistic attacks since the inception of her career to convince us to not let MAGA gain power they should do…

This guy isn't a leftist, lmao. But anyways I think its interesting that you bring up Bernie because he himself on multiple occasions upon reflection have said prior campaigns have been 'too white, too male'. Politics is one of the few things that are kind of a zero sum game. At the end of the day the movie analogy only works if you're strapped to a chair and FORCED to watch one of two movies. We're getting one or the other, its important to have equivalent standards for both.

She's had to come out and essentially play cover for it. I wish that we could just be honest on it: Its not that big of a deal in the current political climate given that politicians (and people) routinely namecall. It only makes it terrible because she's trying to backtrack.

I dont think this sub is filled with LEFTWING male advocates based on a few convos I've had and seen over the last few weeks. Gavin should do more. But even this in itself is better than 99% of republican politicians. Yet folks are still shitting on him and saying they're being "used" for their vote. Thats how politics work. They're going to pass policy to help to gain our vote. And for them to keep doing that we need to carry the momentum there. Why would they ever help a group that decides to …

I partially agree. Trump is such a uniquely bad candidate that its embarrassing we needed convincing to vote the other way. I find myself thinking on it a lot and I'd be foolish to believe that sexism or racism didnt play some part in the results. But I also believe we have an absurdly stupid voting population. Which is okay. The left just needs to wake the fuck up and start accepting reality.

Props to having a dialogue. I do think he came across as kinda weird when it came to the Kamala stuff. I got what he was going for, but the verbiage was off. There are some men, especially brothers that just dont like the idea of Kamala being president primarily because shes a woman. And that aint right. But I think the way to handle it is to put it back on them, ask them what theyd need to feel comfortable voting for her. Instead he came off as a lil condescending.

I think this is a grossly unfair representation of the entirety of Obama's character and actions. He does NOTHING but talk down to men and preach to them? Really? Is that fair, or is that an emotionally charged response because he said something you didn't like? And I believe the continuing struggles of so many boys and young men -- the fact that too many of them are falling by the wayside, dropping out, unemployed, involved in negative behavior, going to jail, being profiled -- this is a moral …

I think we'll just have a disagreement here on this which is fine imo. I don't think we need to become dangerous for us to be taken seriously. I think we just need to leverage our vote, energy, and contributions. Its not about being a threat its about being a serious bloc that people have to actually consider. We need some form of political power to actually do something. And a part of that is building bridges, and getting what we can from those relationships. Nah you need to be capable of working with whoever. Effectiveness trumps all. Its just important to understand that working with them can not be "conceding ground on every issue and then expecting them to somehow pick you up". A rising tide usually raises all ships. But we've seen in this arena your ship only gets lifted if you decide to put the work in for it.

Just shrug and move on. What i've started to do was understand why narratives exist and are parroted, and deciding then whether or not to engage with them. "Men will only listen to other men" "You're right, so your opinion doesn't matter here to me" is usually how I respond before disengaging. In this instance they aren't acting in good faith. They're trying to say 'advocate for this thing on my behalf because I don't want to'.

There isn't a huge change. I keep screaming this from the rooftops, men and women are both going through a crisis of loneliness. The "male loneliness epidemic" initially came about because a "doctor" on tiktok wanted to tell men to do better for the sake of validation. When it first came up it was used as a tool to bludgeon men and belittle them. Now it's being taken more seriously. But in general people are lonely. It's tough out there.

I got dumped recently but I still do the opposite when it comes to the opposite and guys tell me "I hope she sees this bro" when i'm standing up for women. Its just diffusing what they're going for. People get really tribal when it comes to gendered stuff instead of accepting its not a zero sum game and we can (and should) all look out for eachother.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/04/25 12:28 AM

"I've already been picked, what about you?" At the end of the day they're mad and implying you're speaking out for male validation. The more attention you give it the more they can focus on that instead of the actual arguement. Over intellectualizing a response can be interpreted as being "angry" and giving them an upperhand.

I think the embellishment of my statement is also a part of the problem. We can somehow say "the anti-male discrmination comes from the left" and neither you nor I will make the assumption that your statement means "left wingers are all racists and they actively mistreatment me" But when a similar comment is made on the right, that's what the rhetoric becomes. Why is that?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/25 08:12 PM

Correction, they aren't the ones pushing anti-white male discrimination. The left had a very cringe period in time where "Cishet white male" was used as a deep insult, but look at how the right looks at black or latino men.

Maybe it's because I'm black. I've never found any DEI group to be super out of line to me when I try to bring up male issues. I think its kind of become the new boogeyman. And DEI is important. There are unqualified white men that get their jobs for being white in the same token that there are unqualified black men, Asian men, black women etc. The difference is when we see these non-white people we assume the system in itself is flawed. Whereas when we see those white men we assume that it was …

Man if you're struggling with bigotry as a straight white guy imagine being a.... not white guy, or a not straight guy. I think it's tough and I don't wanna say "welcome to the club" but I think we should have perspective. The grass isn't always greener. I think this is largely true. It feels like, outside of when it's time to cast blame, there are women, and then there are people. You either are looking out for/sticking up for/acknowledging/commiserating with women or youre doing it with people. Most issues that we have aren't really that different. Sometimes, the pendulum swings one way instead of another. But at its core we don't really have too much separating our gripes.

I'll add to that. Additionally, gender roles don't really offer much of a reward from it for men. For women roles are being broken, and they're celebrated for breaking norms. For men, there's still an expectation to do them, but in previous eras, where it would be applauded now, it's assumed to be the bare minimum. They only really works in conjunction. And it feels like the common sentiment around them are any expectation that women have where they end up with the short end of the stick(for the…

I think the tough thing about stuff like affirmative action for me, is that sometimes you have to fight the quiet part with something overt. Male allegiance isn't a myth, but it's far too overblown. We should aim to destroy it when it crops up. But we also should aim to destroy the inverse. Instead of acting like societally, it's a good thing. What you said resonated a lot with me, though. My beliefs would definitely outline with an overwhelming majority of the goals of feminism. Just in practice it doesn't usually work out. There's a constant fixation upon hierarchy in modern feminism circles, in particular, trying to figure out who has it the roughest so that they can take charge. And the outright refusal to accept that men do have issues, and that they aren't always self inflicted or "because of the patriarchy." I think this sorta dialogue gets lost because there's often a gynocentric view of gender. I think the perspective of women is very important when it comes to the discussion of gender roles, and gender as a whole because well... its 50% of the population how can you not? But it often gets branded as THE view. Gender roles aren't becoming obsolete. They still exist for men. The big difference is the reward for fulfilling said role has been washed away so men are choosing to opt out. Said opting ou…

There's a difference between using a college professor to generalize an entire group of people, and understanding that the policy platform of a political ideology doesn't align with male interest. Conservative politics by platform don't align with, nor care about men
/r/MensRights09/10/24 08:40 PM

So the thing i implore a lot of people seeing this to rally against, is the tribalism line of thinking where "X person on Y side thinks Z so therefore all of Y side thinks Z" Conservatives don't give a flying fuck about men either. This person is a moron and deserves to be punished, but don't let him shift you from being a left wing male advocate into something else.
/r/MensRights09/10/24 07:21 PM

Its very simple. Stop making men the punching bags, actually address what's going on with them. You can do both, and the idea that you have to worry about not backing down on women's rights to address men in itself is backwards. When you speak to women about things that impact them, you don't speak to them in a way that centers men because that's stripping agency from them and selling them short. So speaking to men about things that impacts them should be the same. Men are falling behind heavily…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/10/24 06:28 PM

It is a bad thing, but it's not really surprising that people like it. In general, people like being placed on a pedestal. I think among the left there's just a bit of social conditioning where we understand that a woman who places men as a whole on a pedestal is bad new, but we don't really speak on the opposite in the same token because it's viewed as some sort of cosmic justice for past years of oppression.

I think there have been stronger pushes socially and culturally that account for this disparity more than simple biology, girls aren't graded as harshly as boys are in academia where there's discretion by the teacher. And while I don't think its some massive conspiracy it'd be foolish to discard the truth that at least in the states, we've done a lot to try and incentivize women in particular to get an education not just culturally but legislatively as well. /r/PurplePillDebate19/09/24 02:07 AM

I actually agree with a lot of what you said, but I don't think that its that simple in terms of childrearing, and its a baffling conclusion to reach even. Men don't prefer working because its easier than staying home with your child. How can you cite gender roles later in your post but then flip and say "they just don't do it because its easier to go working." I can't tell if this is pandering, or if you genuinely believe that.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/24 02:03 AM

I'd also make the argument that the same bias that impacts girls would also apply to east Asian boys. As a teacher if you assume your student is smarter (which is a stereotype amongst Asian students) regardless of gender you're going to grade their work more favorably.

I actually subscribe to this logic but only if its consistent. If when men talk about sexual assault amongst themselves, or into the void of social media you explicitly shut the fuck up, then hey thats a fair standard. What normally happens though is that these people take male sexual assault, even from women, as a chance to further talk negatively about men and how the "real victims" are women.

I don't think its a skill issue, and suggesting it to be such is a little silly. It operates under the notion that if someone were just skilled enough they'd suddenly have partners lining up left and right which isn't really true. Sometimes the shit is just sheer luck, no amount of "skill" can guarantee you get laid, or find intimacy.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/08/24 07:00 PM

The 'good faith' counterpoint to that would be that someone who is stronger should be willing to help out more when it comes to using that, and that it isn't gendered because they'd expect a larger woman to aid a smaller woman in that task too. I don't particularly buy it fully, but there's some merit to the idea.

I think its because some people are filled with hate, but beyond that some people place this burden upon men to just 'figure it out' in every facet of life and it just sorta bleeds into this, that notion exists on a subconscious level. Its not malicious by most people. I think just there's this feeling that men should have already figured it out and that when a guy asks its because he's inept in some way, or concern trolling.

Given the average age there they're 100% using "child soldiers" The hard part is that the word "child soldier" has such a large range. When you hear the word we think of an 8 year old with a weapon, and not a 15-17 year old with an AK. The whole thing is fucked.

It's not surprising that it's used MORE, but 21 times more is definitely something I wasn't expecting.

The single lonely men thing was just a hate campaign. Women reported similar or higher rates of loneliness since... well, pretty much ever. And it COULD have been a great moment for people to talk about how the material conditions of young people in America have fucked over our mental health as a collective, especially when combined with covid. Instead people let a snake oil salesman tell them that men need to just "do better" and everything will be fixed.

I think there's a difference between men who are misogynistic and terrorists and that's part of the issue. We SHOULD be calling out misogyny when it's evident, and it shouldn't have a place here period. I'll call out misogyny when I see it, even when I know my peers that are women won't do the inverse. But I see the slippery slope here. Whether or not that's enough for me to protest the proposed bill is beyond me, I'd have to do more digging into what exactly the parameters are of it though.

Can I get that study on benevolent sexism? I don't doubt you I just wanna read through it because I've had that belief for a while.

This is an underrated part of it. Right wingers don't really understand coming together to HELP some cause. They're really good at deciding when they view something is bad and getting together to attack it, but they can't help men because they opt not to help anything or anyone else. There's no addition, there's only subtraction(which can sometimes be good).

I think the hard sell here is that there needs to be some degree of fairness to all parties involved, and its really hard to establish that. If women don't universally have the right to choose in an informed, and free manner (coerced choice isn't a choice) then men can't really have the right to back out given the horrible spot it leaves the other party. If abortions were free and universally protected then i'd be totally fine with men, so long as there's a proper heads up (so you can't back out…

We need to separate the internet from real life here. I'm black, and as a general rule in real life people seem much more respectful in all directions. I've seen white guys call out my peers and acquaintances for being anti-white and most of us just go "damn fair enough". The same happens with misandry to some extent. Most people get carried away and will back down when called on it because they realize they went too far. At least if you approach it in the right way.

TERFS are scum and the ideology needs to be wiped out. What you said about them and misandry is spot on though. They also serve as some very convenient allies for certain breeds of feminists, I respect the feminists that stand on business and sincerely advocate for equal rights. There are others who don't mind marching lock-step with TERFS until they say something that goes against the grain. Trans rights are 'tricky' to some but to me it doesn't matter much to me. They should have the same righ…

Yea tbh it could have been a decent learning moment. And empathy could have been shown by her. A simple "oh, apparently, this is what you guys go through. That sucks I didn't know that." Instead, she tried saying shit like she can't hate men because she has a son.

I hate to "no true scotssman" it, but intersectionality in practice is still good. The problem is, much like with therapy speak for example, is that uneducated people got ahold of it and ran with the definition. Kimberly Crenshaw has came out multiple times and said that it's not meant to be some additive formula, it's just understanding how identities weave together and the unique challenges they face regarding those. Internet dipshits have turned it into some punnett square of oppression thoug…

It falls into "good guy" territory for me, as do many of the other "I'm not like the other male spaces" subs. Their priority isn't necessarily on pointing men in the right direction to get help, allowing them to vent, and being constructive in terms of providing data to affirm positive beliefs about men. Their primary focus is making a space where women feel comfortable discussing men and what they perceive issues are with them. It's something that I don't think they're doing maliciously, but at…

I think the "not all men" thing is dumb because the reverse usually is supported. We'd never go "ahhh don't worry guys he's just venting" if a man said women are gold digging whores or anything like that. And if he went on a tirade about how women are terrible due to his experiences he'd be appropriately called out for generalizing all women. Edit: Also posting that during men's mental health month is kinda vile.

Tbh even the first one is kinda silly. If you told someone you got robbed you will 100% get shaked down about what you were doing to bring that onto yourself. Why were you wearing flashy jewelry? Why weren't you being more careful of your surroundings? Why were you in "that" neighborhood at night? And so on.

I won't call a man a pick-me for disagreeing with me. I will 100% call a man a pick-me for trying to invalidate the experience of other men for the sake of the validation of women. If someone says "I disagree because of...." then idc, go nuts dude talk it out. What I often see that does need to be called out is "The only men that say/have an issue with XYZ are those that are problematic. Actual good men don't care about ABC"

When I became a teenager and stepped outside of my gaming circles. I think what's made it worse was the advent of "pick-me" men becoming more prominent. Normally when you'd hear some sexist shit people were quick to either call it out, or respond in kind. But these men have made it worse because they've normalized the mentality of "it doesn't apply to me so it doesn't bother me. However it does bother other guys and therefore it must bother them.... my dms are open BTW ladies".

Well it's not that they refuse to address it. That actively celebrate it. One way to frame it is that men are being left behind, another is that women are outshining them.
