Wait, you’re saying we can’t use sitcoms as first-hand sociological evidence?

Agree; they have no idea what they’re talking about.

This is the most low status question and post I’ve encountered on Reddit.

What about gold digging, but it’s me, I’m a man.

Yeah, calling this an equivalence is bonkers.

Where can I read more on this? Asking as someone who’s had some success with women, used to cheat, but now absolutely could not fathom cheating on my fiancée.

Not arguing that women have it easier, initially. They definitely do. But just like anything else in life, whether it be that Michael Jordan (or Gretzky?) cliché about missing 100% of the shots you never take, to any podcast about famous comedians learning that you have to bomb in order to succeed, the same applies to dating: developing social skills (through failure), and becoming a person that you can be proud of – and that women would consequently want. Ships are safe in a harbor, but that’s …

Yes, OP really contradicts them self. If marriage is so valuable in rural areas, one wouldn't see higher rates of divorce. At the same time, in higher income/higher education cities, marriage being more of a "want" than a "need" (vs rural areas) leads people to selectively choose partners on more of a "who would be great to be with long term" vs a "I need a partner for financial stability."

This is wonderfully insightful and I wish it was higher up. A purple pill woman mentioned earlier in the thread that she doesn’t know any incels in real life, and were it not for the internet, she wouldn’t know about them at all. Same for me, a 30-something man. But incels now get to be part of a group, and they assimilate into that group identity… which gives them a sense of belonging (albeit one built on grievance that will only perpetuate the grievance flywheel).

Actually, I think you just cracked the code for me! I’m out here arguing that if a divorced, living-at-home, recovering alcoholic can get dates with wonderful, accomplished women, then “why can’t you?” but I was always somewhat bewildered by how that managed to happen – granted, I’m tall and good job, but the flaws in my bio… yikes! But like you said, the key I think you made me realize is emotional intelligence. Once I opened up, they’d then open up about deep things, and I could only genuinely…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 01:56 AM

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised when I brought it up on the first dates (just in case they hadn’t read my bio). None were turned off by it (which makes sense… if they’d read my bio and were turned off, they wouldn’t be on a date w/me), but were surprisingly supportive. They’d either open up more about their own (self-perceived?) “flaws,” relate about someone they knew who was in recovery, etc. And these women were all successful in their own right, intelligent, and objectively attractive. One w…

Some variables to consider that might explain things: 1) I paid for whatever premium feature it was that put me in front of more women – I don’t know the Bunble algorithm, but this might’ve been the main difference maker (assuming you didn’t) 2) I live in Southern California, so, many more options than a small town
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 01:02 AM

That’s an interesting theory. I guess it’s plausible that “if he’s being so upfront about all these (honestly embarrassing) flaws, I don’t have to worry about discovering anything else bad” is a good working hypothesis.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:52 AM

6’1”. But I had a boss in my 20s who was like 5’7” and way more popular with the ladies whenever we went out. He just had that charm.

There is definitely either a "chip on the shoulder" (if not a total red pill) vibe from most of the dudes agreeing with OP, which, in and of itself, I'd imagine would be a pretty big turnoff.

and over 10,000$ must be spent on her for access to her holes. If you've ever been to a bar in your life, or have been out with friends and one seems to make a connection and smiles at you all as he's led out by his hand, you know this is not the case. Are they carrying Square credit card readers the guys must swipe?

Hmm, I just reviewed the sub’s rules and not sure what you’re intending to ask but are prohibited from (sorry, I could just be dense). Of the Bumble dates, I only ended up sleeping with the one who I’m proposing to, so it’s not that. As for my financial situation, l was recovering from a divorce that had set me back so badly, I was living with my mother. At the same time, I had a somewhat lucrative job… so savings and assets depleted, but stable income. Maybe by being upfront about my situation,…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:28 AM

Assumes women don’t read the bios, which who knows that that percentage is. But whenever I brought up my “flaws” on the first date, no one was surprised/taken aback, so at least they read my bio, saw the flaws, and decided I still had some merit (be it looks, the work is done on myself, messaging charm, etc).
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:19 AM

Right, and I pointed out how “living at home with mom,” “divorcé, and “recovering alcoholic” wouldn’t pass any initial “flawless” check.

Do you live in reality dude? Not meant to be dismissive, but as someone who even lives in a male-dominated county – so competition is more fierce than, say NYC – this strikes me as some “I’ve rarely dated” stuff.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:08 AM

Yep. As someone bicoastal for work, it was night and day the level of attention lavished on me in NYC vs lake thereof in LA.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:05 AM

I was upfront in my Bumble bio that I was a recovering alcoholic, divorcé, living at home with my mother (mind you, I was late-30s at the time). Explain how I got to be choosy myself in terms of who I went on dates with, with the 3 I ultimately chose being winners in every category? (Granted, one was a single-mom so she may have been looking for a provider, but that doesn’t explain the other 2, including a weather woman [err, meteorologist] one county over nor the wealthy ranch owner).
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 12:00 AM

Yeah, no. I got to be choosy on Bumble, and revealed on all my first dates (in case they’d missed it from my profile where I was pretty clear about it) that I was: 1) living at home due to financial recovery from a divorce, 2) that caused by my alcoholism (to which I’d gone to rehab for, and been sober for more than a year). I got 2nd dates with everyone I wanted (and 3rd and many more with the one I’m now with), including a woman who lived one county away and we knew something long-term would b…

Also, even if it were to happen, women have options galore at their fingertips thanks to OLD and apps. Why would they bother with some random guy who their friend knows? Because women trust their friends to be able to discern who's a quality guy. For women doing online dating, there's sometimes zero way to deduce whether a guy's a creeper IRL or a psychopath or just a bad dude in general who's good at keeping it hidden, except to go on several (ultimately failed) dates with them or, in the case …

Yeah, Maltz's work on self-image and the crucial insight that how you perceive yourself is the key to behavior change is the foundation for most of the better, modern self-help books out there... whether they acknowledge Maltz or not.

If your LTR does these pauses at ANY POINT when talking to you about things she's done or is going to do, soft next. Did you pause to consider that maybe your insecurity is unattractive and unhealthy? And now you're advocating doubling down on said insecurity.

We are here to discuss sexual strategy, and everything pertaining to it, objectively. Presumably a good strategy wouldn't entail seeing the world through such warped lenses.

In my experience, it's really rare for a girl or woman to have any significant opinion on anything outside of looking pretty, partying, or who their favorite country-pop musician is. You need more experiences then.

I prefer the "no, of course not!" route followed by eye contact and the slightest hint of a wry grin. Alternatively, you can follow the "of course not" line up with "you haven't even gotten to know me!"

This is interesting. Mind sharing why she deleted ones you where you thought you looked good and what her reasoning was behind adding the new photos? I'm sure we all suffer from looking at photos from a self/male POV, which is obviously different from how our intended audience sees them.

Exactly. If you copy someone else's lines but don't have a congruent persona, you'll come across as a fraud... which is way worse.
