Reading comprehension skills: non-existent.

I think you raise a lot of excellent points. I do think rape is one of the more violent crimes, given the nature of it, but I don't like the idea that it isn't able to be discussed. Thank you for your comment.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 05:26 PM

Right. I would make it illegal to mention any sort of rape trial for a guy who was acquitted. I definitely don't want to downplay the stigma of being labelled a rapist.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 04:56 PM
2

I am not saying that we should do that.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 04:49 PM

That is a good point. We don't refer to murder victims as alleged victims or other victims of crimes as alleged, because there is generally more concrete evidence. Rape is a unique crime in that it is horrific but also really hard to prove one way or another. It sucks to doubt a woman who was actually raped and it sucks to condemn an innocent man prematurely. That is why I really do like the idea of "closed door proceedings" in rape trials. That way both people have their day in a court of law r…

That's an emotional appeal and rather presumptuous.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 04:43 PM

I think a better solution is granting anonymity to both parties in rape cases. I don't think there is an objective solution in this case.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 04:28 PM
3

Right, I think false accusations should be as prosecuted as the next person, but when they are not false, I think it is abhorrent to "doubt the victim" because it inflicts pain on someone who has gone through a terrible event. This does have the side effect of not calling anyone an alleged victim in terms of rape, but that's a minor concern comparatively.
/r/MensRights17/09/13 04:09 PM
4

I am not trying to diminish the possibility of false accusations. I am saying that I am not comfortable calling someone who was raped an "alleged victim." This does cause the issue of not being able to call false accusers "alleged victims" either, but I would rather not inflict that sort of thing on someone who was raped.

Asking for stats/info/citations is patriarchy.
/r/MensRights13/09/13 02:03 PM
2

That seems like something a rape enabler would say.
/r/MensRights13/09/13 01:34 PM

Patriarchy is anything that is perceived to negatively effect religion. If you (the feminist) -feel- it is oppressive, then it is objectively oppressive and anyone disagreeing is supporting rape culture.

So, you are claiming that nothing is true? That's idiotic.

I think you might be taking a movie reference a bit too seriously.

That's actually untrue by definition. Something that isn't true is not knowledge.
/r/MensRights26/08/13 07:35 PM

It isn't even that. I mean, they have that, but they also have bots that will instantly revert malicious edits to an extent. They definitely can lock articles if they become an issue. The feminists may be trying to get that to happen so they can cry patriarchy, who knows.
/r/MensRights26/08/13 03:23 AM
5

Yeah, exactly. Honestly, the ideal Wikipedia contains 100% of all human knowledge. Of course, that's more of a Platonic ideal, but there is nothing wrong with adding actual information to it. The bias would be the problem.

I hate that, even as someone who supports a woman's right to choose, there are still some that attack me as not having the right to speak on that issue, simply because I am a man.
/r/MensRights22/08/13 07:27 PM
2

Yeah, head hunters don't look to kindly on listing Dumerville Correctional Facility on your CV.
/r/MensRights22/08/13 01:36 PM

That a woman has to go through the mind rape of speaking to a man as an equal is a crime in par with genocide (assuming all men of course).
/r/MensRights22/08/13 01:33 PM

Dead serious tip. Women tend to respond better to "I feel" rather than "I think".
/r/MensRights22/08/13 01:27 PM

That makes sense. It just sucks that there is zero accountability. I think at the very least, she should have to register as a sex offender.
/r/MensRights22/08/13 01:25 PM

Yeah, I remember the Dave Foley story. If he goes back to Canada, he goes to prison for 6 months unless he has half a million dollars. At the end of that 6 months, he can get out if he has half a million dollars or go to jail for a month. This repeats until he dies.

"Lighten up and [get serious]" that makes no sense.
/r/MensRights19/08/13 03:45 AM

Honestly, I would like to think it is mostly insulting to the women being pandered to. It is saying that rather than treating them like reasonable human beings, you have to treat them like children. Always saying your sorry, regardless of context or sincerity, is something you do to a young child.
/r/MensRights19/08/13 03:42 AM

I just picture the guy in OP's comment as Caucasian, with a hemp necklace, disheveled hair, and sandals likely with socks. Might be handy with an acoustic guitar.

Depends on where you get married on how relevant a prenuptial agreement is during a divorce proceeding. Also, and I am no lawyer, but I think a judge can just ignore it. Granted, I don't want to mislead you, so I would just recommend to check into that.
/r/MensRights14/08/13 06:38 PM

/r/MensRights14/08/13 02:04 PM

It is basically a 50/50 shot. You get a bit of a tax break, but otherwise there is no upside. The downside is getting slaughtered by losing up a massive percentage of your current income. If you lose your job, that is irrelevant.

/r/MensRights12/08/13 12:40 PM

Yeah, the shitstorm that would erupt if they played a version with the genders reversed would be massive. Male pain is played for laughs. Female pain is played for emotional resonance.
/r/MensRights12/08/13 12:38 PM
27

Questioning a female is perpetuating rape culture. How dare you.
/r/MensRights11/08/13 09:22 PM
65

You're doing it wrong. That's hearsay. Now, a female friend of mine came to me and told me that she has personally seen PZ Myers sodomizing children and animals. He also using racial slurs instead of regular pronouns. She said that he has a scat fetish but couldn't give anymore details than that. Obviously, she doesn't want to be identified as PZ Myers would come after her, but why would a woman lie about anything.
/r/MensRights11/08/13 05:49 PM
2

The annoying thing about that quote is that saying "I can't give any more details other than he pinned me down and had sex with me as it would identify myself" implicitly accuses him of just constantly raping women.

I never said anything about Mike Johnson in that thread. A guy said "Our defensive line is going to murder [Matt Ryan, the quarterback of the Falcons]." I didn't take that to be a literal statement, so I said "I hope so!" I suppose that I get that his post was celebratory of Mike Johnson being injured, and mine, within that context, may have seemed to also be celebratory. I certainly regret that it seemed that way. Where does a player being hurt factor in at all?
/r/MensRights09/08/13 10:58 PM

Not really, I am just not going to cheer for the Falcons under any circumstances. If you liked sports at all, you'd probably understand.
/r/MensRights09/08/13 09:57 PM
-4

Not really. Football is most enjoyable when you have a team you want to root for or root against. I am just not going to cheer for the Falcons ever. They are my team's biggest division rival. If you liked any sport at all, you'd probably understand.
/r/MensRights09/08/13 09:57 PM
1

Sort of. I am not claiming I want him to fail miserably as a player, but I do want the Falcons as a whole to fail miserably. No amount of "players you just want to see succeed" (which the Falcons have about three for me personally) will change that. I'd root for a team of cloned Hitlers over the Falcons.
/r/MensRights09/08/13 09:26 PM

/r/MensRights06/08/13 06:35 PM

Because typically, if a couple is well off enough to be supported by one person's income (as in one works one stays at home), the worthless partner is going to be the woman. Women are favored in custody cases, even when it isn't warranted. There are exceptions to this obviously, but it is generally the case.
/r/MensRights06/08/13 03:00 PM

Yeah, you could theoretically be making decent money but living in poverty conditions because it is all going to "child" support.

Of course, don't you know anything about feminism?

I haven't really kept up with X-Men, but I am pretty sure there are multiple X-Men books released in a month and this is just one of them. It's really a non-issue. Marvel can make whatever comics they want, they're fiction.

Sounds like you are advocating rape, honestly. If she's out screwing around and she has a preconceived notion that he is an unworthy sexual partner, he is going to be hard pressed to find her willing. Getting sex with an acceptable partner isn't easy for some men.
/r/MensRights27/04/13 03:44 AM

This is really offensive to men but even more offensive to survivors of rape. If you don't have a hand laid on you, you are not raped.

Well, I guess it does get people talking about how rape is bad. I am not sure we exactly need to talk about it, but I don't think a man is going to decide to rape a woman to spite these types of posters, so they can't hurt in that regard.

I doubt it would either. I am just saying that he is part of a "protected" group. A black teacher can't let all the black students go first, even if it just discriminates against whites.

/r/MensRights19/10/12 05:38 PM

That doesn't actually mean the same thing though. Heterosexual says nothing about gender identity. When you need a term for a person who was born a male who also identifies as male, then "cisgender male" is your best bet. Sexual preference has nothing to do with gender identity.
/r/MensRights19/10/12 05:35 PM
5

Right, I agree. I am saying the term might be useful in an academic paper where really technical terms are useful. "Straight" might not be professional enough there, just like "guy", "girl", "dude", or "dudette" wouldn't be. I think that's up for that field to decide I guess. I'm a computer science guy and there is terminology there that the layperson has no use for either.
/r/MensRights19/10/12 05:23 PM

Cis is a Latin prefx meaning "On the same side as" so it isn't made up. It is nonetheless ridiculous outside of transgender studies papers.

Yeah, I know. She had to set it up to do that. That is the point.
/r/MensRights18/10/12 05:42 PM

Individual privacy isn't the issue here. Naked pictures of yourself is unprofessional in a public setting and she showed them to minors, whether intentionally or negligently. I don't think it would have been an issue if she hadn't tried to get them in trouble, but if action has to be taken, she should be the one punished. Ignorance of technology is no excuse.
/r/MensRights18/10/12 04:13 PM
6

The thing is, if you remove the technology from it, she showed them her topless photo (probably through negligence but still) and then got offended when they looked at it.
/r/MensRights18/10/12 04:08 PM
31

It would be exactly reversed. The teacher would get suspended. It's sad that people who don't understand technology can decide punishments involving them. I admit I am not familiar with Apple products, but an iPad doesn't automatically sync photos off every iPhone in its vicinity. No company would design their product to work like that. The teacher had to have synced her iPhone to the iPad for whatever reason, and it was her responsibility to ensure that all her topless photos were off there.
/r/MensRights18/10/12 04:06 PM

That seems more reasonable and better researched. I gave you an upvote so hopefully people can see it.
/r/MensRights17/10/12 10:46 PM

/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:00 AM
6

Is SA involved in this?
/r/MensRights16/10/12 01:05 AM
46

Yeah, I think if the genders were reversed, this would be a nonissue or a case of "you go girl!" I think that there are some differences between genders and women do tend to be less physically capable than men on average, but that should be an indicator that they shouldn't initiate physical conflicts, not a license to start fights. I don't always get into physical altercations, but when I do it is not with Brock Lesnar.

Oh, I agree. I kind of think that women could only really be a kicker or punter as far as football positions. Anything else would probably be too brutal at a high skill level.
/r/MensRights14/10/12 10:16 PM

Yeah, even in the NFL, the kicker isn't expected to take hits. If there is a fumble, they kind of just try to make the best out of a bad situation.

Also, 56% have partners that are nice enough to not make them feel that they are not pulling their financial weight. I don't think there is any question that they aren't.

I mean, I don't have a problem with gay people. I think it is kind of dumb to claim that every man is either a potential rapist or harmless. There is one of those that is much more likely than the other.

one extreme example of harrassment carried out by feminists is the murder of a dog owned by Erin Pizzey, the founder of the first battered women's shelter in the UK, after she published Prone to Violence, a book describing how some of the women who came to her refuge after being battered were themselves as violent as their husbands. Classic feminist logic.

I'm going to have to agree. Black women and Asian men are the least desirable partners in general. I don't think there is anything wrong with having a preference that includes race. Being straight doesn't make you a homophobe. Preferring a certain race doesn't make you a racist.

Yeah, it seems like the guy that wrote this article is like those people who claim waterboarding isn't torture. Until you experience the situation, you can't really say what you'd do. I've witnessed a shooting before when I was a kid. I know that I can keep my cool in a situation like that when a loved one is hurt and I need to get them help after the gunman left, but I am not going to claim that now that I am an adult I am going to turn into John Rambo in that type of situation.

I don't understand the Tomb Raider controversy. They create a more realistic woman, have her go through some realistic situations (and, player willing, come out ahead), and it is sexist. For a long time, Tomb Raider and other games have sort of fallen into the trope of women as eye candy. The new Tomb Raider game tones down Lara's curves and makes her more realistic. It's ridiculous. My take, for what it's worth, I don't see a problem with women as eye candy but I find the new Tomb Raider game c…

I agree with you but you don't seem to agree with me. What I meant by trivialization is that rape, real rape, is a serious crime. Adding in all the "changed my mind" types of rape minimizes the women who are forcibly raped. It is not a trivial matter to send an innocent man to jail.
/r/MensRights17/07/12 01:19 PM
3

I really don't get who it is aimed at. Any rapist who sees it isn't going to have an epiphany and any other male is being treated as guilty of something they don't intend to do. I think the trivialization of actual rape by these types of things do more to hurt the real victims of rape than a truckload of patriarchy*. *=still not sure what that really is. I know I am suppose to...have it, so I assume it can come in truckloads.

This reminds me of a group at my college that was called Men Against Rape. Their tagline was "men can stop rape." I always thought it was weird and seemed to hinge on the premise that men often talked about raping women to each other. Everyone who isn't a rapist or a sociopath is anti-rape. I just don't think they need a special group for it. Although, I definitely wouldn't put myself in danger to stop a rape on a person I didn't know, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

yeah, there would be a problem with that. I do agree with the premise that a homemaker has value but I do not think that it is 50% of the earnings of the breadwinner value. This is assuming a single earner household with children.

What I have found in my experiences is that many religious people tend to be reasonable and logical about everything except their religious belief. I can't believe that future sex offender was able to make the girls strip him, video tape him, and upload it to Youtube. He should face the maximum penalty for his sexual assault on these three innocent young girls. /s I think we all know what would happen if the genders were reversed. I really don't see a problem with this. I was a Philosophy major for a time and the informal nature is something that those professors seem to encourage. I had a class that was higher level where the professor took us out to eat at the end of the year and bought drinks for those who were of age. Another professor regularly drank with his students. The only female professor in the department was a female-supremacist who objectively discriminated against men. A couple took her class together and t…

I agree. Considering if a man gets married or has a kid, he is at the whim of the woman as far as staying together. That isn't too far off. Sure a man can divorce a woman too, but child support and alimony will always go to the one who sits on her ass while you work your hands to the bone (to give her money every payday).

Yeah, because women don't have any choices other than raising the child on their own. There are no abortions, safe shelters, or adoptions here in America. How is it sexist to want a man to have even one option when it comes to pregnancy? It is sexist that women have 100% of the choices for a child after it is conceived. If the mother doesn't want it, it is aborted or given up for adoption. If the mother wants it, the father has to pay for it. However, this is a perfect example of what I was talk…

I replied that condoms aren't 100% effective and she just kept up the ad hominem. My friend later made a post about people disagreeing on political views and the feminist support group that has formed used that as an opportunity to take shots at me. I think there is a reason his comments were downvoted. I am a man and I think most men and women MRAs here would disagree with memymineown's sentiments. I would like to hope so, but I imagine that the way it ends is one of them (probably Chris Pine) ends up with her and the other conveniently finds another girl. Also look for Reese Witherspoon to be pissed off that they deceived her, because when men lie about anything, it negates any deceit on the part of the woman in these types of movies. The reason they wouldn't blame a woman in that situation is that feminism treats women as if they are children, incapable of deciding for themselves and thus not responsible for those decisions. Also, they're massive hypocrites but we all know that.

I am somewhat new here so I don't really know what ignatius does or doesn't do. No need to make assumptions on what I think. I think rules should be applied evenly but I really don't have any instances experienced that would allow me to comment beyond that. Free-market capitalism is the system that I find inherently violent (due to the need to spread) and immoral (due to valuing humans as an economic cost). It is interesting how two people can come to two different conclusions.

I like that so many people can be MRA. I know that many people in this subreddit would disagree with me on almost anything else but I find a kind of beauty in the fact that this issue is all across the political spectrum. I actually identify as socialist but I don't think it is as bad as you might think. That's a discussion for somewhere else though. Well, I think it is unfortunate that women are -always- the targets of domestic violence and child abuse and men are -always- the perpetrator. Yeah, that's what I don't get. I had this discussion with a female friend of mine and she argued that the courts responsibility was ensuring that the state doesn't pay for a child it doesn't have to. Honestly, I am very liberal but I don't think abortion should be legal if men can't opt out of paternity before the birth of the child. The woman should have to be willing and able to be a single mother in that case.

I think you're one of my new favorite people. Your Youtube video was really enlightening. On the topic, I am inclined to agree. I became an anti-feminist after I was basically called a "rape enabler" for laughing at a somewhat sexist joke. This is true. Women are perceived as inherently valuable and men are taught to be disposable. Women have value simply by being whereas men have to do something amazing to have value. The easiest way is to die for our country. Anything else requires the man to work really hard to be recognized at the top of his field of employment.
