That is true, taking of your kids is a thing your need to do. But I was raised with the idea that you should celebrate and be thankful for the daily things people do or need to do. Phrasing it as a "but" and "only" is so stupid, as if saying anything positive about men without caveat will make you (general you) vomit.

The header of the website : Scientifically derived, precisely worded - not your lies & damned lies & muddled Maths kinda "statistic" "#"SexSpecificStats - crunching the data so you don't have to! Yeah that's biased as hell, you want your sources of data to at least attempt neutrality.

Men aren't in a bad position no. There still are many harmful issues with the way males are perceived in society, but, at least in the West, men (and women) are doing well enough not to go into "open incel revolution due to lack of sex" as Whatif is predicting. (And like holy shit how many time is Rudyard going to report his american civil war predictions ? He's been doing that twice per elections for the last two.)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/05/24 08:50 AM

Not all of them, no, we won't get an "incel revolution" for one, because as it turns out, men aren't in that bad an overall position nowadays.

Nah he made detailed predictions with 2-5 years window that absolutely didn't pan out, and then he hides with the "my job is betting against God" as if he hadn't made an entire video asking us to take him seriously. His economic predictions in particular are horribly bad. He did predict the Azerbaijian-Armenia war with correct timeframes though, I'll give him that.

Didn't expect a whatifalthist video here. He went kind of insane some years ago, keeps predicting doom that never come. Well I guess this video has a decent underlying message though.

I didn't know that and it seemed to me as if people here were criticising the very concept of a go-bag. That she made for the express purpose of fleeing was not made obvious in the linked post.

And that's fucked, but I just want people to know that someone having a go-bag doesn't mean they're trying to escape from you.

Go bag aren't just to run from a spouse, making go bags is just good habits in general. Natural disasters ? Evacuation orders ? House fire ? War ? -> Go bag.

That was a sweet story, and I appreciate the self-awarenness, here especially : I was annoyed after what happened with that guy. I thought he owed me fun, that we weren’t on a level yet where he could dump his shit on me. That’s what his friends are for. I wondered why he wasn’t trying to impress me, spinning me around on the dancefloor and making me laugh with impressions of celebrities. I spent the rest of the night not exactly ignoring him, but trying to demonstrate how great I am, how hard h…

You make an odd jump to a case of attack, but the thing is, in neither cases are you likely to get attacked (unless the bear is white.) I guess people who pick the bear do so with in mind the statistics that you are much more likely to be killed by a man than by a bear, which is true but a completely wrongful reading of that statistic, because as it turns out, you will cross path with many many more men than bears in your life (if you even ever meet a bear.) suggest ‘men won’t die of celibacy, let them stop whining!’ Can you stop strawmaning me for half a second ? I'm saying that men should not depend on women for their self and social-worth. This is what you're disagreeing with.

Right now sexual and romantic relationships play a key role in how men are perceived. And men (women too, albeit in different ways) are very much pushed towards relationship. I am not recommanding people to turn into monks and never indulge in relationships, I am saying that people need to be able to be content and happy without romantic relationships, before deciding to pursue or engage in them. The thing is that we can't have men be dependant on women for their self-worth and social worth.

Let them decide for themselves But as things stands, that's not what's happening, our culture very much pressures men into going after love and sex, even makes it one of the "main quests" of life. I'm saying that it's not necessary, it's optionnal, as are most things we do. You have the choice wether or not to go after love/sex, and can be content with your life either way. most of them already do their stinking best to find a balance between cravings and practical everyday life. Frankly, that's…

We have many "main drives" that end up making us miserable if indulged in. For many people, that's unhealthy eating habits, for other, it's attempting to have too much control. The desire for sex fits in there, and the point is not to say that it's wrong to desire sex or love, but to say that it should not be seen as a necessary part of men's lives. The maint point is : no matter where you are on the manor+chef food vs 10m2 + astronaut food slider. You can be content in both cases, and society s…

I think it's extremely important for men to see relationships with women as an optionnal part of life. If we do not need relationships with women to be happy, if our worth (social-worth and self-worth) does not depend on it. Then a lot of the toxicity goes out the window. Edit : (I'm not telling men not to pursue romantic and/or sexual relationships, I'm saying they should be able to be content and happy without them, and then decide wether to pursue them. Because men being dependant on women fo…

Cicero_Assassins. One of the admins of r/menslib has explicitely said that on the topic of "legal abortion" or "paper abortion." That this was a "useless conversation" and so it is banned on the sub (the threads are from 8 years ago, and digging a bit shows you that the admin in question is in fact a complete traditionialist, using arguments like "men must provide to women and children.")

I think the only way this thing becomes banned is if an "arewedatingthesamegirl" group becomes large enough and gets banned itself.

I guess the qualifier is “less” precautions. Because I always take precautions. As you should but the thing is, it doesn't matter in this debate. Because the precautions argument is the same thing as a "look at what she was wearing." Those are both cases of victim blaming.

One of my main issue with most feminists I've talked is that they seem to think that men are immune to most of the issues faced by women. Twice on reddit now I've been told that men were "immune" from feeling danger in a public setting while the truth is that men are more at risk from getting assaulted by strangers (and women more from relatives.) Now sometimes people will reply with hypocritical statements like : But it's men doing the assault or But men are taking less precautions so it's thei…

At least from what I've seen on the internet, women definitely get blamed for hedonism. A solid half of red pill content is blaming women for indulging in hedonism, it's so stupid. Now yeah, of course you'll find people rambling about men "not taking accountability", and "being boys, not real men", being "losers" due to their life styles and meh Peter Pan syndrome. It's just that many people need to understand the concept of live and let live.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/24 02:56 PM

That distinction is fine imo, because in one case you got opportunistic imoral assholes and on the other pedophiles, psychologically you don't deal with those two the same way. As long as that Australian would say the same stuff about male predators that is... And anyway, child rapist is sickening enough, shouldn't need an amplifier for judges to do their fucking job (which in this case they did not do.)

For the "walking at night" part. I thought it was common knowledge that men are much more at risk of being assaulted by strangers than women are. But it surprises many people, so it bears being said again and again. Of course, there is the usual stupid rebuttal of "but it's other men who assault" to contend with.

Running at night is not a dangerous activity (in developped countries at least.) Joggers (or hikers or cyclists) disappearing is, on the whole, pretty damn rare relative to how common those activities are. You take a hundred times more risks by sitting in your car.

night jogging is an easily avoidable situation Eh... not really, when (where) the days are short some people spend all the daylight hours in the office, meaning unless they want to only run during weel-ends, they have to run in the dark.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/02/24 03:53 PM

It's something you see quite often on Reddit. There was a thread on r/running recently about a woman disappearing while jogging at night (probably murdered.) The comment had stuff like : "Men, do better." "Men can't understand because they are immune to this problem." "Men should keep each other accountable." The usual basically, there was also the "men should get a curfew" but that at least was downvoted to hell.

A very interesting read full of interesting datas, thank you for sharing. That said, I'm not sure how much of that drop in sexual activity can be attributed to metoo, the drop in masturbation sure as hell can't. It also seem that the drop started before metoo went into gear. So there is something deeper going on, my guess is that it is the same deeper reason that affects both sexual activities and fertility rates (so wether it's because of the effect on sex-rates or just goes with it is another …

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/01/24 09:03 PM

Given that black men were and are considered the super predator you can add a bit of intersectionality in here too We don't even need that tbh, intersectionnal thinking can be used to defend males (even though I'm not convinced by all of it.) Also yeah, you made me realise the black males being called "superpredator" works with "male"="predator" with "black" being the (racist) danger enhancer.

Interesting that it overlaps with r/mensrights though basically all subs beside this one with high overlap seem to be women majority subs apart from purplepill. This would make menslib an interesting place if it makes MRA and feminists actually comment to each others, even though there is a clear power dynamic favorising the feminists there.

I came here after getting banned from menslib actually (it's against the rules to talk about paper abortion there.) I'd argue there was a patriarchy, and many (not all) of the ideals that hurt men today are traditionalist remnants from it. Patriarchy badly hurts the men who aren't patriarchs, and not all men can be patriarchs at once. For some reasons many feminists simply don't have a clear definition of patriarchy and use it as a slogan more than anything. "Slavery hurts slave owners, too" Slavery hurts the non-slave owners. I think the issue for those women is that they still had to go through a male intermediary to get access to power, so it doesn't invalidate the claim that women lacked political power. What is interesting in these letters though is that we can clearly see how the validation (sentimental and sexual) of women was seen as very important for the external image of male politicians. A practice that we can still see today and is toxic for both genders.

My guess is that you got that impression from watching him talk to different people. He sometimes ignores some his own opinions to get to a specific point with one specific person, and it's made obvious when he explodes right after closing a long call with someone he was being civil with

So I just finished the interview (I'm late I know.) It seem like a lot of the problems this sub has with this can be explained by Reeves walking on eggshells to make the topic palatable to the mainstream, which is not something to be condemned I think.

I don't think men will ever "not have any power." I'm talking about a point when the negative impact of too many men's failing at living in society will become more noticable (it already is, but not enough apparently.)

Men with no prospects, who feel spurned and abandoned by society are dangerous and so the issue must be addressed for the good of everyone. Historically this has been true, but entertainment are cheaper, more accessible and more entertaining than ever and that accross the whole world. This might change the situation.

I fear it will have to wait for men to be completely outperformed by women (and looking at university graduation rates, it is simply a question of the older generations dying off) for it to registers to people that maybe men have issues worth adressing, until then I don't have much hope.

Depends, I've mostly seen two kinds of people who had a major issue with trans-women. First one is the one you describe, women who are scared of men (be that due to experience or education) and from that fear derive a fear of trans-women as well. Second one are the people who think transitioning is some "affront to nature." Those groups can and do overlap (some people will think both things) but I just wanted to point out how transphobia can have multiple sources. Actually the way someone who ha…

Grocery stores seem to employ 90 to 100% female employees on cash registers. Banks 99-100%. Receptionists probably approaching those rates too. So as someone who has worked in similarly skewed spaces (as a receptionist actually.) This seem to be an offer side issue more than a demand side issue, in my experience grocery stores and banks will gladly hire men for the job you cited. I don't think that's a case of mysandry, but I could be proven wrong.

People often say "men and women are more alike than different" and then proceed as if that statement had no implications. And yet one of the implications is that most aspects of society are better analysed and treated by dismissing genders entirely.

Short answer : yes. Longer answer : violence in all shapes is a part of being human, letting off strong feelings (often anger but also shame, guilt, frustration and others) by hitting on things is I believe, an almost universal human experience. Incidentally, that's why I think it's a good idea for every kid to have a punching ball/bag.

Red Pill content make some decent observations and then proceed to run to wild and mostly wrong conclusions and prescriptions. Exemple : Observation : Women generally value different things in dating than men do, leading to women being more likely to date guys older than them and vice-versa (okay sure.) Conclusion : Women have an age when they are absolutely undatable anymore "the Wall." (like what ? Why ?) Prescription : "Never date a woman above 25" (alright that's ridiculous.)

Like what sort of apartheid thinking is this that people demand that one group in society removes them self from shared public pathway when they see members of other groups use it. This is absolutely mental. Women only gyms, women only bus lines, women only wagons. All of these things exist.

In some ways it kind of is conservative. Circero_assasin (one of the older mod) is a complete traditional conservative as far as values and (male) gender role go, looking through their comment "male should be providers" is a value of r/menslib wether they like it or not, and it is far from a progressive or left wing value. Fyi I got instantly banned from there for wanting to talk about legal abortion.

I think he's not using it as an insult. He's using it as a descriptor. Oh no he isn't. When he calls his viewer "a bunch of autistic fucking virgins" that is an insult. In his last video video he called a married guy a "virgin" this was not a descriptor. I think we all know why that's an issue.

This made the round on another sub I'm in, and there was a very interesting (and damning of the UN) on there, from u/KxPbmjLI : Misandry is everywhere, it's just invisible to most people. we're conditioned like it doesn't exist and that only women can be the victims of anything. Here's another UN banger and a study which highlights a lot of the problems within the UN and WHO. I think we should just be more open and less afraid to change our mind. I agree, but once you've tied an opinion to your identity, changing said opinion can be extremely difficult. And I don't think we can expect humans to stop tying our opinions to our identities. Hence why I think we should pay attention to only tie to our identities opinion that don't do much harm if they're wrong.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/11/22 07:45 PM

Because tying your ideas about politics, sciences or economics and others to your idendity can make changing them very difficult and stressful. And as it turns out, those are all very complex constantly evolving fields, meaning it is very likely for your ideas about them to be wrong (and even if you're an academic at the edge of knowledge, you probably won't be right for very long as the field evolves.) And those fields tend to have a lot of effects on your life and the lives of others (politic …

I think humans need to apply labels to their identities to an extent, at least most people do. But indeed, identifying with political systems or generally political group is a bad idea. That's where stuff like non-proselyting religions, hobbies, or sports teams shines (or even more frivolous stuff like reddit communities during pixel wars, blue&black vs white&gold, or orange cone vs banana...) Serves as a good outflow for tribalism. Generally stuff that don't affect your rational decision-making…

Is it a Family Structure? Yes. A Culture? Family structure and culture are tighlty linked, so yes. A Political System? Aren't family units and tribes the earliest forms of political systems ? Elaborate! I'm not writing you a dissertation. Why is it bad to expect men to be great? Because "great" is massively subjective. Expecting men to be "great" create a frankly toxic social pressure, a burden. Which is why I said that patriarchy social expectations from men sometimes creates unattainable stand…

What is Patriarchy? Told ya, "power to the father", males are expected to lead and succeed (and have kids) else they're failures. Who created Patriarchy? Collectively by many different societies throughout history. When was Patriarchy created? Neolothic ? Paleolithic ? 3000 BC ? Idk. Why is Patriarchy Universal? Given how widespread it is I'd guess it was a stable way to organise society. How is Patriarchy Maintained? I mean... it's not very well maintained in my opinion, but to answer the quest…

Toxic masculine behavior : set of behaviours that society expects from men, which [the behaviors] often lead to toxic(bad) outcome for the male and/or his surroundings. Positive masculine behavior : set of behaviours that society expects from men, which [the behaviors] often lead to positive(good) outcome for the male and/or his surroundings. No I don't subscribe to that view at all, patriarchy "power to the father" if you translate it. I actually think it's on the way out in most western country, and no, all men are definitely not guilty of it.

How so? I'm particularly curious about your take on toxic masculinity. A set of behaviours that society expects men to have, those behaviours leading to negative outcomes for the man and/or his surroundings (my exemple in another comment was "men shouldn't be soft" repressing softness is a toxic masculine behavior, and mocking a man for being soft is reinforcing toxic masculinity.) it seems you're implying this was accident on thier part. I'm not. In fact I kind of agree with the tin men that th…

Toxic masculinity is not supposed to be a term for when men do toxic things or toxic things that only men do. It's supposed to be the social construct of masculinity that places the expectation on men to behave in ways that are detrimental to themselves and those around them Yes exactly. women get internalized misogyny to describe basically the exact same thing I never saw it that way but you're exactly right. But why is it specifically toxic masculinity, and not just general toxicity? Toxic masculinity is a toxic standard, if you want you can just call it general toxicity. I know a few women who would likely say the same thing as your brother. Are they exhibiting toxic masculinity? Point is they would be less likely to say that to a woman than to a man (at least in my experience.) They would not exhibit toxic masculine behavior, but they would reinforce toxic masculine standards, which is a bad thing…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/11/22 08:07 AM

My take on that is that if you point out a case of toxic masculinity, you also have to point out the specific toxic idea. Exemple from my life : Me : Gives plenty of pets and praises to my dog because he obeyed an order. My brother : (in a very mocking tone) oh look there he is again so gaga swooning over his dog. This is a case of toxic masculinity, in this case a case of "men exhibiting softness is bad." An incredibly common exemple of toxic masculinity (I call it toxic because I think exhibit…

Toxic masculinity are the traits that are reinforced by society when featuring in males and that are negative to said males and their surrounding. It's vague, it's subjective, because not everyone will agree on wether a trait is good for a man to have or bad.

Some genuinely think Greg - who works as a postman and rents a small one-bedroom flat in Derbyshire - is some kind of cosmic oppressor, the head of a secret patriarchy police who spends his weekends scheming up new ways to make everyone who's not a straight white man miserable. This is kind of the issue of the whole patriarchy discouse. Yes there are such things as toxic masculinity and notions of patriarchy but the way people talk about it tend to put the blame on individual men (wether it is i…

Neither do I but a good take is a good take. And the reasoning shown in this video is very useful. For one, he shows why and how intersectionality theory applies to men as well. I think it should be viewed as tragedy, but that shouldn't prevent us from taking a side. On the one hand, I find it in very bad taste to see people cheering the death of Russian conscripts. I get it if Ukrainians do it and to a lesser extend Poles, Balts etc... I get that Ukrainians might need to partake in the high of victory to win the war. But Westerners doing it is... Wrong. What a feminist would answer is that it is about representation. CEOs, politicians and the like, being men, will make things easier for men. This is the argument you are against. And it's fairly easy to dismantle given how men are obviously not doing that great despite their disproportionate representation on the higher echelons. But then many feminists reconcile with that fact by telling you that defeating the patriarchy (those 75%+ men in upper echelons) is also about helping men, and that hav…

A guy caught in a downward spiral isn't likely to find help through internet. The best thing would be for someone to actually step-in in his life, be present and guide him. Get him a foot through the door of active life. Of course this mean an amount of sacrifice on part of the "mentor" with possibly no pay-off. But that's the actual best thing you could do.

The issue for many of these young isolated dudes is that they are caught in a downward spiral and for many the only way to get them out of that spiral is for someone else to physically enter their lives and actually help them get a foot through the door. And not everyone can be a mentor sadly.
