I like our love of random sticks.

I think this is a bit simplistic. Boys are likely to be labelled homophobic slurs/ be called sissies etc for achieving academically amongst their peers This, for instance, is something I've never seen. I can maybe relate it with not playing sports, but even then, I don't think happens a lot We also have to consider most teachers are women. Or that men are sometimes given less score for the same.

Pinkpill Pinkpill are TERFs. I don't consider them to be mainstream but some of their ideas may overlap a little. Not so long ago, I used to read their forums (gendercritical). There were some who said men of color sexually harassed women more based on their experiences working in a strip club or something. I even read men of color were worse than white men because "men of color are mad they don't have the power of white men and use their male power against women" or something similar. I think t…

Everytime I read conservative men saying feminists are destroying masculinity ideas or attacking masculinity I can't help but think "fuck I'd wish". If anything, I see them reinforcing it more lately...

That person is an idiot. She'd be an incel if she were born man. Nobody said anything to her? Hearing shit so manipulative like that...

Yeah, I actually have talked with some feminist men who are feminists (among other reasons) because they feel more manly and talk about other men who are anti feminists like little bitches who whine all the time. In this case, getting to see the non feminists men as weak and fragile may make some men more adamant to be feminists to avoid being seen like that, I think.

Interesting. May it have been pre-christian Roma? I've always thought the rise of Christianism increased homophobia and it came with the dislike of penises.

I try to make feminists stick to their words. I hate when they police gender roles (something some of them frequently do) by shaming men. The problem is, even other feminists don't usually call them out when they do it. Also, gets boring after a while to read the insistence that every person who isn't a feminist is a white anglo man.

These kind of experiences light a bulb. I think there's some kind of psychology in wanting the people who don't want you.

On the other hand, there are a lot of parts of homophobia that I see as unrelated to misogyny. We’re compared to pedophiles, called unnatural, called disgusting, etc. This is a great observation.

I'd say this may be common in my experience as well. They also say men only give a shit about women when they have daughters. Guess it happens both ways? Or maybe we notice the bigger difference from some people from not caring to caring.

They just enjoy that unhealthy competition between men. They see themselves as winners of it so they don't care about the losers.

Coming from blue-collar family, maybe it's my uprising but I find a lot of the academic people very fake and "social proofing" focused. Like they just understand poverty from an academic sense or "tourism", so to speak. A lot of times when the mask goes off you can see a lot of them clearly feel superior to people with less education.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/03/22 08:43 PM

Academic right-wingers are even worse than left-wing academics in my experience. They don't feel "threatened" most of the time because they're cold people who just treat things as intelectual exercises so they don't really feel that connected.

To be frank cluster-B are personalities related with trauma most of the times, so I think the feminism appeals to them because feminism is clearly related to women's trauma. I don't think it's a hot take (at least for me), I've certainly met a good amount myself. But I also think we tend to demonize people with BPD quite a bit more than even Antisocial people.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/02/22 07:30 PM

Yeah, it's a real concern. Even subs that aren't specifically geared to men can be affected. I left r/bisexual because the community there collectively decided that obvious jokes about people struggling with their attraction to men was "misandry." Really? She left because of THAT? I was disturbed to see recently that the mods allow generalizing women as false accusers as long as they put "white" in front of women. Oh ok. Explains a lot.

Anyone who knows history and if men bodies were seen as beautiful in Ancient Greece? It struck my curiosity. Now men bodies are a bit of "ugh" a bit so I wonder if it was actually totally different before.

So why do people still think male circumcision is healthy? Pseudosciente has always been rampant. Whenever I bring this up the local men tell me MGM is okay and it doesn't mean anything bad is happening to men. And I don't know what to think anymore. Same as adults who were beat the shit up by their parents trying to normalize it. Some men have this very idea of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" a lot as well.

I think because it can magnify success and reduce failure. I managed to have a good job, despite being... I didn't manage to have a good job, because I am... It's weird, you know? My feminist friends are also cool people (mostly women, I've found some of the feminist mens to be too competitive and just use feminism as a way to show off how alpha and protectors they are of women). But the internet opened a whole can of worms.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/10/21 09:23 PM

It's an internet thing, I think. And for one, there isn't much rivalry. Feminist really don't have to worry that much about MRAs. MRAs are really scarce and people only know their existence because of the internet. Most feminists probably don't know what an MRA is.

This is a good comment and you don't need to apologize for anything. I've already read the perspectives of FtM quite a few times. I imagine the dysphoria being quite strong sometimes, either you're kind of a "man lite" where somehow you don't count as a man when feminism discusses men, notallmen, how men have to step up and make other men accountable because they're complicit, etc. Or else, where you do count, and these things can hit you hard in your self-image. Is either dysphoria or feeling g…

Who has the most needs for improved safety and working environment? Overwhelmingly it's men working dangerous jobs. It's men driving taxis, working in mines, felling trees, welding, and it's men who are 90% of workplace deaths. Saving workers from death and from injury is in my agenda as a male advocates. This right here is the reason left-wing politics help men even if they don't say they directly do.

Was feminism really that popular 15 years ago?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/07/21 09:47 PM

Not that hard. I tend to think fixing worker issues is a huge help to men problems, which is something that the Left does better than the Right like... 100% of the time? I don't think I can demand too much anyways. Most men problems are really hard to solve... like the suicide rate, so I don't expect any political movement to have a good fix for that just yet.

https://www.reveddit.com/v/MensLib/comments/m04ydu/anyone_else_really_tired_of_the_indian_men_are/gq6amd0/ The mods deleted quite a few comments like "sorry but you first have to fix the problem before you can whine about it" (something like that) with like 100 upvotes or more. I think some have a blind spot and that's it. Also they imagine the people explaining that blind spot as not good people, then they reply like this: a) you don't give a shit about men you just want to shut up women b) then men should stop whining and do something themselves c) yeah that's patriarchy for you, it also harms men Etc. But being honest I don't like arguing about the existence of patriarchy that much.

Absolutely. Mantaining composture under bad work circumstances and dealing with abuse will always be better for capitalism. At least capitalism plays a great part in all of this.

I'd say Liberal Feminism is still more popular. Maybe Radical Feminism can seem more popular on the Internet but on real life you can see liberal feminism on pop culture way more. Radical feminism, for instance, dislikes the empowerment because they think it's just an alternative way of pleasing the male gaze.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/05/21 10:54 PM
2

They propose that the oppression of women is the most fundamental form of oppression So that means Radical Feminism has intersectionality in a low priority, right? At least by that definition given. Interesting, as I've seen self-defined radical feminists (or TERFs who co-opted the term) say Liberal Feminism is just white women concerned with trivial issues or something unlike Radical Feminism.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/05/21 10:51 PM

Yeah, even if those men in power did everything they could for women and didn't give a shit about men, it'd still be Patriarchy. I actually think because it is a Patriarchy and men are more competitive (thus, men help men less than men help women or women help women) it makes a case for men being left out.

Also they want to be inclusive to non-white non-cis people because they've noticed they've failed (mostly on the non-white part) so I think they might be less "apprehensive" with posts where they can express their views, even if they go against feminism a bit, because if feminism wants to truly be intersectional, it must a…

Men are responsible for all of their success and failures. When a man succeeds, it's because of him. When a man fails, it's because of him. Women are kind of the reverse. When they succeed, someone helped them. When they fail, it's the fault of the circumstances (or the system).

I think I've only seen 1 prolifer in here (who was downvoted so his comment was at the bottom). Financial abortion is something really hard to discuss because we're discussing hypothetics on very specific things. Both of the parties can lie and some MRAs ignore how most single parents in the entire world are women, like... 20 to 1? Or even more. With things like trashtalking obviously there are going to be feelings around it. Some people absolutely intend to make other people feel like shit with it. And I don't really like to wait for the appropiate academy outlet to analyze something before we can form an "educated" opinion, moreso on niche subjects like this one. Feelings are important. Trash talking can have an effect in feelings.

Men are expected to be horny by default a lot of times. I'm not, and I've had women pretty clearly flirting with me, even in front of other people (either it's genuine flirting or I look so asexual/gay they feel comfortable enough to make that kind of jokes to me, which is something I've seen women do to gay men).

Some of them. The most "obvious" ones I'd say. I'd say more than support they acknowledge but the causes are kind of misunderstood a bit sometimes (like men's suicide where it's mostly talked as it's mostly just men's pride in their masculinity rather than how people react to men having ugly emotions which can fuel the idea to suicide a lot).

Bisexual men are seen as gross a lot of times both by women and men because of the notion of having been with the gender the given person is not attracted to.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/02/21 06:00 AM

It is reported in LGBT circles nowadays, from what I've seen. Even here on Reddit, the bisexual subreddit actually got sick of the "being bisexual is loving all women but only 3 men" kind of jokes.

Same. Gay men have also flirted with me, and it was in the most respectful way possible. Some guys really get angry at the very notion of a gay man noticing their existence, let alone expressing some attraction. They paint all gay men as predators or some shit. It's very stupid.

Neither side thinks it's okay to talk about men's issues. The left talks about men issues way more. Worker issues are mostly men issues. Right wing always wants to pay less and/or increment the amount of worked hours. The left also cares about public health, while the right tends to privatize it. Even if the left didn't specifically talk about men issues, we benefit 10 times more from it than the right, which tends to mostly help upper class men.

I read GenderCritical before they went down. They talked shit of men of every race. I literally read a couple of threads of how latino, black, and non-white and non-asian men didn't understand boundaries very well. If they are BLM, I don't know how genuine they are.

Yes, but they're mostly talk (at least). Other transphobes actually kill transwomen. I understand their talk is seriously harming though, and the obvious implications of this, I'll left them in blank.

Feminism can exacerbate a man’s shyness, anxiety, self-consciousness, and guilt exactly because he is working very hard not to be sexist, and because he is sympathetic to feminism. Just as some workers, even conscientious ones, have trouble getting work done out of a perfectionistic fear of making mistakes, some men, even pro-feminist men or proto-feminist men, have trouble interacting with women out of a fear of making what feminism defines as mistakes (it doesn’t help that feminism’s criteria …

Criticism of feminism as some kind of monolith is inherently unconstructive and not solutions-focused, which violates their rules I wish they did the same when talking about mens-rights-activism (MRA). So many misconceptions and talking like every MRA wants to hold traditional gender roles and think women should be in the kitchen (example here).

Nice article. For me this was the most interesting quote: we have somehow excluded the group that remains most at risk: men. Perhaps it’s so obvious it gets overlooked. About your quote, being honest, I like the term toxic masculinity, because it makes us talk about how men treat other men. Sometimes men are more rude to other men than necessary. Sometimes they're indiferent, which contributes to the suicide of men. I understand its criticisms (which is to say, the term a lot of times does a poo…

I've always found the dynamic of being an ally very interesting. On one part, you have to "deconstruct" your masculinity and abolish gender roles (of course someone is going to read this and say that's optional and you can be masculine and an ally). It means, you should be accepted if you aren't masculine. But in reality, being an ally means you have to be stoic, because you have to suck it up because "your feelings are trying to opress the voices of marginalized people" or something like that. …

I haven't, but of course I understand guys who have, because men have to be "riskier" in the dating aspect. But I also have to balance the understanding of men, because women are harassed way more and thus are more on the defensive. I've read a good thing which encapsulates this. Some men say "I've been called creepy for being shy and awkward". Meanwhile women say "this creepy guy was following me in the night while asking me if I could suck his dick". There is indeed quite a hole about defining what's a feminist. In AskFeminists there was a thread about how you can be a feminist and most of the answers (including the mods) were like : "If you want equality for women, then you're a feminist. You don't need to read X, Y, Z or know X, Y, Z and that's gatekeeping". But TERFs also apply to that definition. I think I understand. In the end, a lot of times they'll censor themselves and try to follow a script because they are expected to be a "example" of how people should talk about men issues and most of the time mods will choose to keep that image because it may be not as easy to achieve in the first place so they'll obviously won't throw that into the can. I only wish if you could notice men who treat women better than other men and maybe tell them. People have a hard time admitting something they've followed for years has an issue in its core root. The same happens with Christianity. This is assuming they are feminists (which, funnily enough in my experience, is harder than non-feminist women who aren't for equality). First, you have to avoid being a lot of things they assume you are when you bring these things up, if they suspect or know you are one of these things, they will invalidate your feelings and assume other intentions. Things like: a) being right-wing b) uninteresting to women (i.e. women not liking you) c) someone who likes black humour (this can be seen as disli…

Well, it can have a reason. We have had (and to this day, have) a lot of really big and importants figures of science (like Darwin), philosophy (like Aristotle) and a lot more who have been saying the same thing over years: men are better than women. Thanks to this, women are the "underdog" so of course people will feel worse when a difference points out they are less skilled in X is coming out. I mean, imagine being a girl and being interested in, for example, science, and really admiring all t…

I think a lot of them do it from good intentions. We all love variety and a lot of writers also enjoy doing something new or at least something not that overused. I don't know much about pop culture but many of the icons I can think of right now are white men: Indiana Jones, James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and I'm pretty sure if I got to search "most famous tv characters" a large part of them will be white men and the second most large group will be white women.

Nice post. It's also kinda hard to tell them they're not practicing what they preach. Some of them either downplay your issue so it's really not sexism and it's probably your own fault (hyper-agency plays a little role in this) or some put you into a kafka trap like mansplaining where you can't deny it since it would denying it would be, in fact, mansplaining. It's also interesting to read your experiences. It's interesting how despite you being smart and into arts you were still given the "do t…

Eloquent and nicely put. I've also read TERFs (non-feminists according to a lot of subreddits like AskFeminists) saying they can disguise easily and hide their transphobia and nobody ever suspects they're TERFs on feminist spaces. It seems like their hateful rethoric can easily avoid suspictions by avoiding certain words.

Take note that there's a bit of an inverse survivorship bias in who talks about dating online. The people who are successful in doing so aren't really talking about it. Really good approach to see a lot of things. I might be taking this into more things.

This is tragic. This may be one of the few guys who really did accomplish things for men, something which isn't easy and you have to be brave because you will be attacked for it. A lot. Rest in peace.

It's more cold than people admit it is, and it may result in some men issues like loneliness which can end in tragedies. I personally don't care a lot about dating, I've always prefered friendship, with both women and men, and sometimes I think some men put too much relevance on dating, to the point of feeling alone while having really good guys as friends, but I think I can understand that position.

Or how many people who claim to be feminists and support gender equality still hold sexist views against men. And I'd say feminist men are a lot of times more guilty than feminist women of this. When you think you're a hammer you're going to see a lot of nails. Misogynist nails. I wish they could understand their own bias. I've seen a good amount of them be really agressive towards guys with opinions they don't like (like being pro-life) but trying to explain in a more peaceful way to women with…

We should give them empathy, so they can give it to us. It's a shame that the author of SlateStarCodex recently took the whole thing offline (the New York Times threatened to doxx him, so that's how he responded). He had a really excellent essay about exactly what you're describing: how he felt his maleness conferred powerlessness and fear, not power and privilege, especially when it comes to gender dynamics. Yeah lately I've seen all kinds of shitting on depressed men. Either it's all his fault and does nothing to make it better. Either it's a manipulative tactic to induce pity sex. A lot of times when they discuss red flags, they're just describing guys with either depression or social anxiety. Sometimes they do discuss genuine ones like being shitty to a waitress though.

women at the same career position, work experience, and salary levels as men needed to work harder to get to where they are to overcome the gender discrimination stemming from the halo and horns effects I don't think that effect has anything to do with gender. Yeah they really bring unique perspectives to the conversation. It was a fresh find. They even ackonowledge issues for men in their own way too. Womanists is what black feminists used to call themselves. They were not the same thing. And also the relationship with men. Historically, black women have always sheltered their men because they were out there, and they were the ones that were most likely to be killed. —Toni Morrison.

You can read black women's perspectives on this matter to know they aren't very happy with feminism as its current form. I remember comments somewhere talking about how if you were truly for equality you would be a feminist and not a MRA because feminism fights for the equality of the sexes and I pointed out how black women had to make their own movement because they didn't feel feminism truly understood their issues, and feminist think they could understand the issues on another gender entirely…

We don't have to think too much in the possibilities of what could have been and feel guilty because... we just so happen to be in one. Yeah that's why there're so many lonely men who commit suicide. If these feminists really existed and they were a majority, male suicide would be less because there would be more people supporting depressed men (and no, I'm not saying just women have to, feminist men too if they really cared), which is one of the biggest problems men have right now, because we feel like disposable shit most people in our real life don't care about unless we provide.

What can you say about the anxiety in men? I've seen self-flagelation first hand from a couple of guys. They are my friends, and when I used to see them more in high school, they were happier. Now they learned about feminism and self-flagelate all the time, feeling like shit for being a man, guilty for not stopping other men, guilty for desiring women, for not standing for women all the time, etc. I really want to help some of these guys, but I really don't know how to adress the issue.

Most of the time they point out "but it's not systemic". And they leave it at that. It's kinda hard because you can't even use intersectionality when that happens. Do black men have it better than white women? This is a question where they'd tell you you're mixing stuff up and will probably get a bit angry. And when they don't get angry, you can see them becoming bored.

Going with this, women feel more attacked by generalitazions to their gender than men.

This is part of my generation and it's true. Still hard to beat that feeling tbh.

Yeah, and women tend to feel more like shit. I discovered until recently a lot of guys have sex with women but hide those women. That shit must feel bad.

Some of them definitely are and this is just another form of mating strategy. Trying to portray anyone they oppose as weak, whiny, neckbeard, incel, fragile so they are portrayed as the opposite.

This. And they get an influx of condescending responses in the tone of "it'd be sad if something bad happened to you to prove us right :)".

Both sexes systematize. we like the idea of each man/relationship/love being special and unique It's different to be in a relationship and find it special and unique than searching for one; that's where you tend to systematize, when you're looking for something, not when you have that already.

Adult women too, that's why they need a lot of validation. Men have been starting this behavior recently, but they aren't addicted to validation because they haven't tasted it so much.

Most of the time these kind of comments are about average girls. I think these guys just think "yeah she was pumped and dumped by the guys she was really attracted for, she's with me because of the security, she wouldn't if they tried to commit".

I see women all the time talking about how they hate being hetero because women are better, basically. And that's not hard to find.

I've met guys who say they have nothing desireable. Guys who went into hikking and bycicle, have a set of skills, are well-read and can talk about topics making them sound very interesting. It seems to me most people are expected to undersell themselves or either aren't aware of what they are or else they think they're no special because on the internet they read about a 8 year old boy who mastered 5 languages and they feel like they can't compete (just a example, but this is something which hap…

Not a woman (and also never got obsessed with someone to the point of not forgetting them, maybe it'd be different with something tragic like death though) but I thought some people may feel like this, it's like getting a new pet after your one died. I'm sure a lot of guys here can relate with that feeling. You never forget the first one...

I've seen some guys like that, but what I've seen more if their future partners getting insecure because he was with a Stacy and she feels like she doesn't compete.

Don't know if they were gay, to me it was more like "can't say no to the dudes". Can't really know for sure.

How could someone be college-educated, funny, emotionally intelligent and attractive, and be a virgin? Met guys like this who were virgins. Most of the time it's because they always prioritize their male friends, so they never have time (or desire) to be with women.

Happens to men too. I don't know why but a lot of the buddies I met have "chubbier" faces nowadays. It's weird, they look like entirely different people.

Absolutely, I do care about what people say. Most girls who flirted with me were younger and people still thought something weird of it even when I didn't even start or flirt, imagine if you're 40s and you're the one starting it.

25, and 21 I think. But I definitely don't even like women my age that much. Too many memes (I like humour but I don't like people who are obsessed with it) and a sense of proudness in their drama-creating behaviors.

I'm talking about rating other women, but I agree most men 35+ don't look very good.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/19 05:23 PM

Are you sure? Most women that age I know just... "accept" things as they are. They don't even care about sexual expertise that much. They wish it could be better, but they still remain with those guys so...
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/19 05:19 PM

Most women overvalue other women looks, just saying. Maybe she can't really do better.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/19 05:17 PM

Some other thing I noticed is 25+ or 30+ women saying "He just went for younger women because he can't stand their own age group". In my experience is actually harder being with younger or women similar to your age. Older women are way more understanding and can have better conversations. Not to mention, most women lower their standards when they age, so it'd be actually easier in that regard.

The women use the shaming because this is the tactic women are used to employing when they are arguing in real life.In real life it might work,on the internet ....not so much. Also it's an attempt to swift blame since women can't be at fault for anything. Just found on this thread. How accurate it is.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't use the term "Opression Olympics" if a woman wrote something similar to this. My point stands. Show me when you wrote this to a woman.

And what's wrong with attention seeking? A call for help like a suicide attempt can change lifes. Sometimes people need to go that far to get help.

Are you legit asking or inviting another “women have it easy” incel circle jerk? Read and you'll see yourself. I'm not even an incel. Get over with your buzzwords. There are a million factors that affect someone’s reported happiness, not the least of which how they themselves view happiness (a state of mind I chose to be in vs something I have to work for vs something the universe “gives” me, etc.) Understood, but I don't just talk about the study. I think the bigger question is why does it matt…

It seems like she does value women's lifes more than men, but let's acknowledge something. Even if Rodgers killed more men, a lot of women could be worried because that would mean a incel/niceguy type could kill their fathers, brothers, or male friends. I'd certainly be terrified if I were one, thinking a guy could kill some beloved male in my life.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/19 05:09 PM

This is the right answer here. Most women don't want something that serious to begin with. It's boring and tiresome. Not when they're young (which I assume OP is). Not to mention, the relationship can always end if OP is that bad of a partner, at least he's going to acquire some experience.

They are going to date him. I don't know which kind of women you guys meet who basically demand you be the better version of yourself already or they won't date you.

And woman can even send unsolicited nude pics and be really insistent with the sex topic. They assume you're really going to like them and it's impossible you won't, since that's the default response they get.

I've talked to feminists friends of mine (yeah I can have feminist friends) and they literally accepted they didn't give a shit and even pointed me some guys they knew who were shamed. Even when I presented them the stats talking about how short men commit more suicide.
