Absolutely-some attitudes about narc empathy are twists on victim blaming. Ditching a Narc. calling out Evil and abuse and not having empathy for your abuser are also very High Value ways.

One of the hardest things about recovering from Narc abusive relationships is trying to explain it to others. Most people want to feel compassion or empathy and to try to understand WHY the narc is so fucked up. If we could only understand, maybe he could be healed or fixed…people just don’t want to believe that some humans become well, evil. I’m a therapist and I have been that way before. I tried for years to empathize and be understanding of my Ex. Well now I’m out and healing and still peopl…

My son and his wife just had a baby and within 3 days I was called a GILF-SO gross.

Yes, I am finding lots and lots of lonely, needy men are swarming even at my advanced age :) now how many are HVM? I’m praying there’s at least one! Edit: you know what? Actually, it doesn’t even matter if there is one or not. I will never, ever settle for anything less. I will say though that I’m having some fun dating and learning about myself. But I’m dead serious about not tying myself down with a LVM or NVM ever again.

I feel this too. I’m 47, divorced for 2 years from a NVM I was married to for 23 years. Before him dated scrotes only. I was a literal pick me! my step mom said she remembers me saying, “he chose me!” More than once during my engagement. Ugh!!!! I’m so sad for my past pick me self. But, I do have wonderful amazing children. And I have, thanks be to God, raised 3 HVM. Now, I’m leveling up and learning how to vet. The scrotes are swarming because I really am a catch. Im determined to never settle …

This is awesome! You are the ‘transitional character’ in your family of origin. This is some generational leveling up shit. WTG!

I’m a therapist so men make assumptions about my empathy, sweetness etc…plus I have that ‘look’ and I’m petite. Since binge reading/listening to FDS I am opening my eyes more and more about how my natural self was molded more and more into a pick-me. My inherent qualities and my goodness has been weaponized against me! By culture, by men, by religion and by other women.

This is amazing and I hope it gets pinned or something. I will be re-reading this for sure. Thank you!

This just happened to me last week. It was my first ‘relationship’ post divorce. I’m so glad to find FDS, but it’s ugh the regret is making me want to bang my head! It’s not a just this last newest one, it was my marriage and every other relationship i ever had.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
