This! So very much this. The kind of girls who WANT relationships and are willing to put effort into them do not look for the same things in a guy that girls who just want to hook up do. Bring out those parts of you that you may have suppressed/ forgotten about in your search for a toned body and effective pick-up lines. Do you enjoy carpentry? Volunteering? Baseball? Playing in a band? Making paintings of robots playing sports? Indulging yourself in activities and groups that YOU find enjoyable…

1) sorry for the confusion. Didn't realize you were just sharing this poor guy's experience... One more reason why I shouldn't post at 3am...I'll be sure to visit that link and direct my intentions to the correct individual. 2) for what it's worth- I wish the best for you. While the statement that people can be monsters/ assholes is obviously not a foreign concept to you, it doesn't make it any easier when confronted with such things. And you - along with a number of these commenters - have clea…

This sounds like histrionic personality disorder to me... But regardless, what she's doing IS and will continue to be emotional and sexual/physical abuse. Is there any family/friends you can call to help you GTFO? I've known one too many people who have been trapped in similar situations and the best thing you can do is what this thread is all about - reaching out. You're not alone. And you're definitely not the first guy to go through something like this. People - like this girl of yours - can …

Agreed. "Faking it" is pretty much the cornerstone of building connections in both business and social settings. Adapting to different roles when in the presence of professors, bosses, friends, etc. is not just useful, but human.

I have a roommate who was in an almost identical situation. How he broke the cycle? Nerding out. Hardcore. Went to ComicCon, hung out in bookstores/coffee shops and talked fiction novels with passing girls. Ends up a lot of lady supernerds don't usually have time for relationships and are just looking to have a decent, kinky, no strings attached time with a guy who will not attempt to talk about sports.

You got this! And even if it's something she feels is too personal to confide in you right now, chances are she'll remember and appreciate your effort. If she's the kinda girl who's worth it.

Not a big deal. Most girls grow up hearing "never kiss on a first date". Coming on too strong could even hurt your game later on.

Encouragement: So you don't want to fuck this up- don't let her dance around the subject. ask her to bring up what is specifically bothering her and what you can do to help. If she isn't honest and upfront with you, SHE'S the one putting a stopper in your relationship, NOT you. If she is honest, you guys have a shot. Honestly... If you're the kinda homebody I am, all you really want is someone you can cuddle with while watching netflix in your pjs. You might never get that from long distance. Go…

1) don't listen to the person who thinks they're helping you out by throwing insults 2) I think you're being freaking adorable. And obviously this girl thinks so too. Otherwise she'd be looking the other direction. It may just be she doesn't want to ruin the stress-free, pain-free connection you guys already have. Just flirting with someone across the room = epic ego booster without the messiness of potential dating stuff. Advice: just do it. Yes it will be awkward at first. Always is. But most …
