It will be from the idea that they work AND look after the household. Whilst men just work and forget about the rest of life. They're both illegal anyway as you can't discriminate by sex in the UK. There are some very specific exceptions that allow women only gyms and a few over single sex services to operate on that basis. Link I've not seen this story. Can't find anything online about it either. This story makes sense though. The police had little to no information, so arrested everyone took them back to the station to be questioned. Much easier to control the situation. Plus arrests aren't something we keep on people's records. Only charges. If you're charged with a crime then you get a criminal record. Being arrested doesn't really mean much.

Go to a solicitor and ask them. That's the best thing you can do. Don't ask people on reddit, whilst we can be helpful at times and supportive. Most of us don't know jack shit or just lie about knowing stuff after a quick google search on a subject. Probably because of the age of consent. They could argue that even with consensual sex, if it's below the legal age it doesn't actually count. Who knows with these people.
