Do you think their exist toxic feminity and if so describe it? And if you can't... ask yourself why.

Can you link me a comment where you had a similar mindset with women? or do you only have that mindset when it negatively affects women?

That's fine, but my community is largely liberal and this is 100% true for my community.... the reality is gender norms exist because people reinforce them.., pretending it's just conservatives marginalizes people like me

I wonder, why is if when women hurt themselves because of "unrealistic beauty standards" its a society problem... but when women reject men for showing emotions (like what has happened to me) its considered toxic masculinity.. would you consider women starving themselves a sign of toxic femininity?

The only times a woman assumed I was gay was from liberal women... would you consider that your experiences don't reflect everyone?

I don't understand why so many comments point to divorce... that may play a role... but the bottom line, in this current climate single women have an easier time generating wealth than single men... focusing on divorce ignores the myriad of ways society helps single women in this way and harms men

I think it's a societal issue and I have no reason to believe that this isn't at play with OPs case

False equivalency, gestational equivalent isn't removing the clitorus it's a partial or complete removal of the clitoral hood as the clitoral hood forms the foreskin in utero. It's a massive double standard.

Yes, I agree... saying any blanket statement about either sex is sexist imo.... yep agree their are different types of strength.... but that would be semantics.... and I 100% agree that definition is sexist and again, why I think clear and precise language is so important.. but if you want a better understanding why people are more comfortable talking like that... is imo because of how society generally views physical traits (however it is measured) vs personality traits..... and how comfortable…

/r/MensRights21/11/23 11:50 PM

The difference is one is one is a physical trait and one is a personality trait.... the connection between physical traits and genetics is easily understood.... genetics vs cognitive isn't really understood and hotly debated.... their are people who claim personality traits like empathy are genetic.... others argue its 100% nurture... and everything in between

That's one example, but holding a gun to someone's head is also coercion https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coercion

If a man feels coerced into marriage, he should know that it is valid grounds for annulment in some places. But yes it will be way harder to do it than if someone wants to void a prenup for similar reasons. But their are ways to maximize legal standing, in both situations that people won't look for/do if they think it's not possible/won't work.
/r/MensRights17/11/23 10:27 PM

im aware duress is defined as other things not just holding a gun to your head look up economic duress as on example generally laws apply based on discovery... the argument for prenup generally falls along the lines of I didnt know what I was signing... one example that ive personally seen used was, I was afraid of saying something because I would be kicked out (economic duress) depending on the carrot and stick that will fall under economic duress... both prenups and marriage are defined by civ…

In the link I gave you they define duress Duress duress n [Anglo-French duresce, literally, hardness, harshness, from Old French, from Latin duritia, from durus hard] : wrongful and usually unlawful compulsion (as threats of physical violence) that induces a person to act against his or her will : coercion
/r/MensRights17/11/23 05:19 PM

"Lack of consent or duress: If a person is compelled to marry another under duress, the threat of violence, blackmail, or coercion, the court may annul the marriage. Again, the theory is that marriage is a consensual relationship. Forcing someone to marry under threat does not mean the person consents. Actual threats of serious violence are needed." https://www.findlaw.com/family/divorce/annulments-overview.html

One example, a common societal issue is the agency problem, women have too little, men have too much.... I had a conversation with my mom, detailing how my wife at the time was stealing from me with evidence. Her response was that she didn't understand why I was so upset, that I could afford it, that she clearly has financial security issues and I should be more generous with her..... everything was my fault.... this is example 1 of many similiar examp,es... of why I struggle with extreme self-l…

A number of feminist sources tend to frame domestic abuse as something that men do to women "When women use violence in an intimate relationship, the circumstances of that violence tend to differ from when men use violence. Sigh, Ok,, their is a difference between thinking that their bullshiting and treating them as a bullshitter. Their are legitimate victims out there, treating individuals who tell there stories anonymously as bullshitters risk lumping legitimate victims in with them.

In a previous reply you imply they are altering their story to push an agenda.... did you not say that? I consider that to be a lie... you can disagree... again I have no desire to argue semantics.... if you belive someone can intentionally misrepresent themselves and not be lying.... than so be it Also, your replies repeatedly talk about anonymous stories on the internet..... not the article...

This is actually a major criticism I have of feminism and certain spheres of progressives. They frames the symptoms as a way to reinforce it and is at is basically the root of things like "anti racism" unless your actively fighting it, your reinforcing it. The idea is the ideology is the symptom but when you don't take the appropriate…

The topic of the pay gap typically is used to highlight the sexism women experience. The 73 cents metric is used to illustrate gender norms, that women earn less because of expectations to be a caregiver. The problem is that metric could be used in the same way to illustrate sexism men experience because they make more due to the expectation to be the provider. The malice comes from the active denial of that fact, I still cant find a feminist source that validates the idea that men experience se…

With rising life expectancy pensions are rapidly becoming insolvent. Most countries are raising the age you can start collecting. In countries where their is a lower age for women, it's perfectly reasonable to start there. It helps men by reducing their financial burden and facilitates a healthy pension system.

For the longest time womens accusation of rape was dismissed. Women's groups have successfully lobbied and pushed to change that. Things like this often are argued as a form of affirmative action to compensate for things like the wage gap. Feminism has a long history of advocating for unequal treatment of men and women basing it on things like a gendered analysis.... This kind of response is designed to just shut down criticism of feminism, and their are valid points. The truth is feminism advocates regularly for unequal treatment of men and women, and I can give dozens of examples. Do you have a source you can direct me t…

Do you think that designing their website so their is a specific subsection for women's rights (and not mens) might play a role in that difference? And the criticism of the website is valid to some degree? Mens issues generally get invalidated and it has an impact when organizations make the decision to not include them, especially when they make the decision to include women's rights.

Then don't use the term reverse sexism... Because the literal definition of the term is "prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination against men on the basis of their sex." Their has been a gradual vilification of Male relationships/male spaces. The positive societal perception of "going out with the girls" vs the negative perception of "going out with the boys" as just one example. The ones to blame are the ones who paint men/male spaces in broad strokes as opposed to pointing to bad actors..... to the point of a man who wants to be "one of the good ones" might be hesitant as they don't want to be labeled toxic or forming a "boys club" as just one example.

the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Ive always been bothered with that definition. "It has advanced to the point that we are viewed as the “straight white males of the black community”… whatever that means." I can't really comment about that, but I have noticed this concept elsewhere, where the concept of privilege is causing a wedge between or even within groups. The rule is in reference to "Marginalized or vulnerable groups" https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045715951 Or https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043503951-What-are-Reddit-s-rules- where they define hate as "Vilifying, humiliating, harassing, promoting identity based attacks against, promoting hatred against, or threatening violence against marginalized or vulnerable groups." Unless your a marginalized or vulnerable group the rule doesn't apply to you....

The current climate priotizes those "most affected", others well, are shit out of luck... for example hate speech towards men isn't against reddits rules. Those that control the narrative set the rules... the men who are desperate to to have their issues validated/get the help they need are simply working within the shitty system.
