I would expect someone to make a response video criticizing him. Making concrete dating advice strikes me as social suicide on the mainstream online left, no matter how well-intentioned it is. I actually do like that he tries to give out concrete advice, and I legitimately think that what he outlines, while far from perfect, would be a pretty decent starting point for a 19-year old virgin who never received any guidance in regards to dating.

TLDR: The title states that misandry is a myth. The study, even if the methodology is otherwise sound, neither supports nor researches this claim. Does the study even give a clear definition of misandry? They link to the home page of the oxford English dictionary, but I can't find a clear definition in the study. Based on skimming the article, it seems to be operating under the assumption that misandry is the same as antimale sentiment, which is the same as a dislike of men. The conclusion state…

With high school, we are talking about teenagers who we are raising to function in the world of adults. In that case, the criteria should be the same as those in the real world, so the students can prepare themselves. However, it is important that punishments are not life ruining. We don't want to leave someone without an education because they fucked up and hurt someone once, or did something without realizing how bad it was until after they did it. I think it could probably be treated similarl…

A decade or so ago, the movie "the red pill" released. Supposedly it was meant to expose mens rights activists for being sexists, but in the end turned put quite favorable for them instead. I have seen it recommended multiple times on the mens rights sub.

How do you suggest this should be policed? "Your argument is correct but please don't use it because I don't agree with your other standpoints" is not going to go down well. You will be laughed out of the room. Especially considering posters on r/theredpill has been discussing the things you mention for more than a decade at this point, it is not clear to me that these talking points can even be claimed as "ours" in the first place.

Seems like the classic problem, that the men who perpetrate rape will end up ignoring what she points out. The male reader of this article is probably not a rapist, and even if he is, the message probably won't be what keeps him from perpetrating anyway. He either already knows its wrong, in which case this isn't saying anything new. Or he manages to rationalize his actions as morally right in spite of all the information about rape and consent which already exists, in which case this article is…

Do it often, and I think you will quickly be known as the guy who uses rhetorical tricks like these to make a point. I think this kind of stuff is best reserved for longer discussions with people who genuinely want equality for men and women, but have been blinded by anti-male rhetoric. Essentially, it may be productive with people who are feminist and dismiss male struggles because they genuinely believe that men are advantaged and take advantage of women. People who believe in lifting up the s…

You have tried to convince him normally, which did not work. Other things worth trying could be to expose how ridiculous the views and talking points are, and straight up make fun of them. Because alt-right talking points are, in large part, stupid and ridiculous A third way is to try and get him off the internet and out of the echo chamber. A fourth would be less confrontational, and more about having a deep conversation where you talk about how he came to hold those views and why he believes t…

I think there's a kind of quiet part that nobody wants to say out loud, and that's that women simply aren't as attracted to men as much as the other way around Not sure this is true with how I have heard some women talk about men. I think it is more likely that the puritans are the loudest voices on the internet. And of course when someone steps out of line, "toxic masculinity", "misogynist", and "incels" are thrown around as insults which gives that impression. Since most people either go with …

Yeah, unfortunately popular media generally give terrible relationship advice to men. So if you don't have people around IRL who can help you figure it out, you are quickly fighting an uphill battle, where anything less than perfect means you are a terrible person who deserves to be alone forever.

The fact that they find some girls more attractive than others is natural and not bad. But creating a public tier list of the girls based on attractiveness is bad, in fact it borders on bullying. Calling it toxic masculinity vilifies both parts though, thus risking that boys start suppressing their feelings out of fear of being roped in with "toxic masculinity". Essentially, it is not their feelings that are bad, but rather how they chose to act on those feelings. Unfortunately, the public outcr…

I don't see the correlation you are implying. There could be several explanations for why men are more lonely now, that has nothing to do with whether they prefer the company of other men or women. Like loss of third spaces, fewer areas of life involving interaction with others (jobs done alone, groceries ordered from home, hobbies played on the computer as opposed to IRL), or distress due to the constant influx of news with the coping mechanism being isolation. There are plenty of other ideas a…

The issue is that the fabled "real feminists" are extremely hard to find in leadership. When looking at those who lead the movement; Those that write the theory or possess political power to make policies and change, what we find is a gathering of authoritarians using their power to dehumanize men.

Agreed, but it is popularly associated with the left.

Pro LGBT, pro workers rights, against worker exploitation, lots of socialists, the list goes on. The only thing not classically left-wing is the anti-feminism sentiment.

And good people can be wrong. I think one of the biggest failures of many on the left wing is how fast they are to exclude people.

I think he is overall pretty good, with some caveats. He did do a video once where he talked about women living life on hard mode compared to men, which made many people angry. I also find his views on dating largely unhelpful. I have still gotten a lot out of him though. I don't think you can expect one person to be great at everything. He puts out high quality content that is either free or cheap when compared to most mental health resources. He shows sympathy and empathy for people in his int…

It can feel isolating that on one hand leftwing spaces tend to lean hard feminist, while spaces that are against feminism generally lean hard right. This is a place to go for the redditors who lean left in most ways, such as economically and in regards to trans issues and egalitarianism, while also being against feminism, and pro men's rights.

Apolitical? The mere fact that we are trying to change society makes us political pr the nature of what we are trying to do. An apolitical movement means no movement at all.

This feels like a misunderstanding to me. It sounds like people are assuming malice where there is none. TheTinMen seemingly sees this as a hostile takeover by the mods who would rather see this community burn than work for reddit. He has been very vocal about not wanting people to advertise their forums here, and so it makes sense that he would remove everything related to kbin. On the other hand, it sounds like the mods here see this as a powergrab by TheTinMen who wants to ruin their reputati…
