I think it depends on the expected quality of life that you hope to have in the future, I wouldn't advocate a doomer mindset where you think everyone's out to get you and it's hopeless. Instead, I would see it as an advantage if you know how things are going. That allows you to play the game, figure out an exit strategy (things like FIRE etc)

The cognitive dissonance is real.

I've heard either huMAN or stardusk mentioned that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. Hate occupies mindspace, indifference and simply choosing not to care works out best for me. If they choose to spend their time and energy hating us, then I actually kind of pity them.

No point in depending in only one sub. There's no telling when the banhammer is going to come for this sub and others like it. Don't hold all your eggs in one basket, spread it out across platforms/apps, don't grow dependent on any one source. Stay strong brother

Thanks for the encouragement, I still struggle occasionally with the purple pill and searching for that elusive unicorn but all signs still point out to me that the juice ain't worth the squeeze. I'm better aware of my own cognitive dissonance on this: my mental and physical wellbeing levels are much higher than those bluepill days so to me it really is illogical to consider a relationship although I guess the biological imperative to procreate is also an indispensable part of masculinity. Seein…

Thanks for your contribution and best of luck on your journey. Unfortunately, we have no control over what others say or how far along they are in their own journey, but if their issues are starting to bug you then for your own sake please leave.

Man this sounds like the exact situation that I was in a year and a half ago before calling it quits with the relationship and going my own way. The amount of time I have for myself without dealing with significant baggage from the ex has allowed me to level up in every aspect. physically: from couch to competing in endurance sports. mentally: saw a therapist to better understand how to analyse myself and work through my weaknesses. Immensely more self confident now. socially: better relationshi…

But I can only sustain this if I have similar people behind me. Read a couple of books on stoicism perhaps. What you learn is that the only thing you control is yourself and your reaction to suffering. The value that drives your positive response should come innately and not externally. Ask yourself why you need to have similar people around you, is that a crutch for you so that you can rely on the strength of others or is this you hoping that the social conditioning will help you to keep positi…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
