Yeah because you‘re unwilling to check how your OWN behavior reinforces negative standards, damaging to men, and very damaging to women.

Right I‘ll just have to find something to read there if I wanna discuss it. It includes any unwanted sexual advances, and like I said, the problem with it is that there is the THREAT that it will lead to more violence, as well as that for women it will happen on such a regular basis. I have been inappropriately groped as a minor on two occasions, I can only imagine how horrifying any encounter with a man that‘s even „only“ being a little bit pushy must be for women when it happens on a regular b…

I‘m perfectly willing to discuss if I hear any good points, which is yet to happen. I‘m sorry but the fact is that very few women will make fun of a guy for not being a „real man“ and that this is something that is reinforced by other guys. If you‘re not straight, you seriously don‘t see a connection between how a man‘s need to be manly and violence against anyone that doesn‘t fit into that are connected? Like yes, saying „gay“ when you wanna say something is bad isn‘t literally hurting anyone, …

I‘m saying the STANDARD, not „how you have to behave“. I‘m not telling anyone how to live their life, I‘m doing the exact opposite. I‘m saying let‘s stop telling people that in order to be „real men“, in order to be valued, in order to be worthy of respect they have to behave in this exact way. Second point same as the first No, standards basically EVERY man reinforces constantly in their day to day.

Yeah that‘s not what I‘m talking about

I‘ve NEVER said how people should behave, but that the STANDARD of expecting people to behave that way should be abolished. To just say „rapists are trash“ gives everyone an easy out because they can just say „well I‘m not a rapist, so I don‘t have to adress anything“ when the issue is with toxic masculinity, which is propagated by nearly every man. Because what leads to men‘s issues, as well as to them acting in harmful ways, stems from the same place, the expectations placed on them, and what …

No, 1/3 is for attempted or completed violent SA. I couldn‘t find anything on „special sexual assault“ so I can‘t speak on the matter right now. Yes I believe you‘re downplaying non-violent sexual harassment, and missed the point I was making, that to a woman, even non-violent sexual harassment, which happens on a very regular basis, is very threatening. I‘m accusing you of downplaying because you don‘t understand the female perspective on this. You can only see how inappropriate contact would m…

Yeah because there are women who will propagate these issues, but it doesn‘t stem from a female perspective, I still think all of them come from a place of men‘s standards for men. The male gaze and female gaze explain how for example, while a female character might be sexualized and objectified to appeal to the male gaze, a male character that is heavily muscled might not be to appeal to the female gaze. This issue is more complex, this is just an example. Why I used it is to explain that issue…

Yes, that‘s for the most violent forms of SA, like attempted or completed rape. And while you‘re accusing feminists of not understanding men‘s issues, you‘re wiling to downplay how frightening such an envounter can be, even if it doesn‘t end up turning out violent. Having a 1/3 chance of being a victim of violent SA, any encounter where a man is being pushy HAS to be seen as having the possibility of leading to that, it‘s a survival strategy. And while again even if you disagree with some of the…

So do you disagree that these standards are mainly ones men hold other men to? Are you gonna try and look into what I‘ve mentioned here? Or are you just gonna shut down?

You‘re gonna say that accusations of creepy behavior are usually unfounded and come out of the blue or something? And yeah while sometimes, the most obvious cases of a guy being creepy will be called out, the vast majority of creepy behavior will go ignored. I know people on this sub are really weird around statistics of SA and the „true“ percentages of it, but it is a fact that nearly every woman in her life will be the victim of unwanted, sexual advances, a significant majority of them while u…

Yeah that‘s mostly my point, pretty much all of the problems are standards men hold other men too, as long as you don‘t adress that, nothing is gonna change. For one random example, try reading up on the male gaze vs the female gaze. Women as a general rule aren‘t attracted to this persona so many men feel they have to put on, it‘s one that‘s constructed to not be seen as the worst thing a guy can be by other men, feminine.

Tell me you‘ve never attempted to learn about feminism without telling me. Yes, feminism mostly focused on how society harms women, but they acknowledge that toxic masculinty hurts men too. And please, please don‘t even start with false allegations with me.

Furthermore, and I just thought of this after posting the previous comment, I believe the solution to all the problems I see talked about here can be solved by the same solution. Don‘t like that men are not taken seriously when they are physically/emotionally abused, get rid of the standard that men need to be strong/don‘t show emotions Don‘t like that men are seen as having to be sole providers, get rid of that standard, AND LET WOMEN IN TOO, instead of ENDLESSLY complaining when feminists push…

So this is where I really see how I feel MRA, while seemingly seeing the same issue, doesn‘t wanna adress it in a meaningfull way. You don‘t seem as concerned with attacking the ROOT of the issue, that we should abolish these dtandards completely, rather that the result should be men who DO fill it should he rewarded more? I‘d say your views on feminist beliefs comes from a lack of understanding of what it actually is, I‘ll leave it at that for now. You don‘t need to feel attacked by someone say…

Could you expand on what roles women play in reinforcing harmful gender roles? Thanks And could you also expand on your last point

Yeah it‘ll seem ridiculous if you don‘t understand what it‘s about. Certain white feminists aren‘t being called out just for being white, but for not understanding and addressing issues that affect women of colour, because women of colour have certain experiences a white woman will not have

So, I‘m pretty new on here and have some genuine questions so I hope I don‘t get downvoted to shit here (although actually I don‘t really care) Isn‘t one of the basic ideas behind men‘s rights that the role men are supposed to play in society and the expectations they‘re held to are ultimately damaging, and that how men are viewed and what standards they are held to should be changed? If that is true, do you not see these same issues adressed in movements like feminism, or how toxic masculinity …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
