I acknowledged my wife’s issues with me, vowed to be better and got better. She noticed and thanked me. We still got divorced. Don’t let the guilt inside your new, clean house. Never apologize for getting better. People say sometimes “it’s too late” to get better for a marriage but it’s never too late to get better for yourself.

You’re wrong about “saying nothing”. It’s very powerful.

I had another kid with a new love after a divorce. The kids love her. No bad thing can come from another child

Yeah. I was part of the problem but it was still a shock

I did that. Told my new wife I didn’t want to have more kids. She burst into tears and I did it, cause I loved her. We just got divorced last month. I was 44 when she was born.

I still struggle with that, giving her the things she liked about me

I filed on my first divorce. She filed on my second. It’ means nothing, outside of ego.

I can’t really look at my future ex wife. If I do, my brain blurs out her face.

I went through the 6 months and I’ll tell you, it’s most likely bullshit and it will be 6 months more you’ll have to wait to get your life started. Call an attorney today. Ask her for an actionable plan as to what those 6 months the would look like. Counseling? Date nights? Reconnection?

No. You weren’t harsh.
/r/Divorce_Men19/09/24 01:36 PM

Understandable. The wife part will pass and you’ll have to be a new kind of father. You will handled it. It will get better.

God bless that friend.

Fact check: she said he was emotionally abusive. It doesn’t mean he was.

Unfortunately, you shouldn’t have had that conversation

I think the spark leaving the marriage is a good reason. That means love. It means she’s no longer in love. I wouldn’t want to be married to someone who doesn’t love me and I truly don’t think you can ever get it back.

I know, at least partly, that you’re right.

I don’t know if I have the mental energy to do that. I read some of her journals and while horrible, there was no mention of cheating.

Good luck

She suggested counseling but wasn’t honest in it and later said she didn’t like counselor.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
