This was a really insightful post OP! And kinda triggering, because it just points out more and more red flags from my past relationship 🤡 Ended it before coming to FDS but it still hurts to see how much time I wasted on someone who didn't deserve it.

My ex-husband was just like this! We met as college students and played truth or dare as friends, prior to dating. As it turns out, he remembered exactly what I shared and thought it would be a given in our relationship too. I set boundaries but even years into the relationship, he would harass me for things I wasn't comfortable doing and then rage when I said no. It was emotionally exhausting and one of the many reasons why we divorced.

Story time: This was my ex (with me) but I didn't notice it for years... until we met a friend's girlfriend, who was the strong outspoken type I used to be. He HATED her with an unspecified anger. Just to chime in and second this – my dad's in a pretty traditional marriage with a Russian woman. Married over 25 years, two adult children. She's worked on and off over the years, but never enough to be financially independent.
