You’re journey is you’re journey. It’s a process. It takes time. When my ex and I first separated I spent the first two months just being the best me I could be just like you are right now (hitting the gym, discovering new hobbies, making new friends, etc). Then when I found out she was cheating I went through the five stage of grief and actually moved on pretty quickly (both fortunately and unfortunately). Somewhere in the middle of that I took a jab or two at online dating (tinder and bumble).…

Couchsurfing. Meet, host, hangout with, or be hosted by travelers all over the world. It’s $15 a year but worth every penny. I have made some amazing memories from it and I have made friends all over the world from it; young and old, guy and girl, couples, travelers, other hosts, etc etc. It has been such a great experience when I went through my divorce.

I filed and bought my spouse out of her half of the home. It will take me about 3 years to pay back the loan I had to take out to pay her, but I am now having a renter in there giving me an extra $42k in rent money a year. I can sell the home at any time and make all my money back from the divorce if I wanted. Being a veteran I was also able to hold onto my 2.5% interest rate. So a 3 year sacrifice to rent it out and put 70% of my salary towards a loan to me is worth it for being able to keep th…

But sometimes the time of real estate processing can take months and months. As long as you (or your spouse) can prove they are doing everything in their power to affect what they can control the court will side with them. Even if they aren’t hitting deadlines. Because this process takes awhile and it involves multiple entities with their own individual processes and procedures that can take an undetermined amount of time.

Where is the 1 year rule written? In my divorce decree it is written that the refinance has to happen within 90 days or it forces the sale of the home. This exact situation is what I am in right now. The ex spouse was paid her equalization payment, she signed the warranty deed, but I am still waiting on the bank to send the release of liability to remove her from the mortgage. I have never missed a payment but my ex spouse is trying to force the sale of the home.

It just happened unplanned. It was great for my short term mental health and getting over my ex.

My divorce should have taken 2-3 months. It took 18. All the while I was paying the mortgage and unable to rent out the house. I was living paycheck to paycheck until very recently just to pay the mortgage until I could rent out the house. Beyond that, the loan I had to take out to pay off the ex is going to take me roughly 2-3 years minimum to pay it all back. And I work a job that I make about $150k a year. Emotionally, she moved on quick which helped me move on quick. I found me a rebound gir…

Therapy No contact. I dealt with something similar and the second I went no contact my emotional health sky rocketed. As in 100% no contact. Therapy helped me process everything I was feeling.

You do not. Having a lawyer gave me peace of mind though and she gave good advice. You either both have lawyers or you both don’t (usually how it goes). The mediator should be a lawyer or have practiced law at some point even if it’s one of the cheap mediation centers that has volunteers. And remember, if you don’t agree in mediation then you can take it before a judge. Mediation is to try and streamline that process and find a solution for both parties.

The outcomes are generally the same. You go to court if you can’t agree on something. Going to court will cost thousands (upwards of tens of thousands even). Going to mediation a few times will only cost a couple thousand. The vast majority of cases get solved in mediation. I don’t know if every state has mediation. I would expect the answer to that is yes, but it might only be in no fault states.

Your wife sounds like a narcassist. So prepare for her to bad mouth you to anyone that will listen. And to draw the process out as long as she can. I would recommend mediation. Put the pressure on. Most states you need mediation before trial. So get that check as required and allows to have a looming trial date in the back of her mind. Yes it’s money. But it is tens of thousands cheaper than going to court. You can probably find a mediation center with volunteer mediators. Or you can pay some ex…

Good for you man. I wish I had gone to therapy sooner for myself. It helped me work through a lot of anger, bitterness, and resentment. And it made me a much better individual. I hope you two are able to go together and figure things out. If not, I am rooting for you. I know it’s a long and difficult road to navigate.

Have you tried marriage counseling? It’s worth a shot especially if things aren’t beyond repair yet.

Gym and therapy first. Make you healthy. Make you desirable to yourself and others. Cutoff contact with the ex.

Not wrong. It may or may not be best for you. Just be protective of your mental health and be very honest upfront with your partner should you choose to do it. I felt guilty about it at first. But it was actually really healing for me to experience someone new and special again for the first time. Just don’t stick your dick in crazy.

You’re the prize not her. Sad for her that it took so long to realize. Good for you for saying no and holding your ground. Women get the men they deserve and this one surely did not deserve you.

Ah okay thank you. I have a narcissistic and OCD STBX but we don’t share any kids. I’m just trying to get divorced lol. She won’t let it happen.

Wow that is hard to hear. Way worse than what I had to deal with but I get how tough it is. Mine was undiagnosed and not getting help so things didn’t get better. The divorce process I was told by my lawyer would be super simple because we didn’t have any kids. She told me 2-3 months max. I am on month 9 right now of trying to divorce her and she keeps finding new things and delaying the process. Very OCD.

Divorcing an OCD right now. The D in OCD stands for disorder. If you’re married still you should try to get help for her and get her diagnosed. Undiagnosed it will ruin your marriage. Doesn’t sound like your marriage is beyond repair yet.

Wow. I could not imagine having to cohabitate during a divorce especially while she is running around with other guys. That must be very tough. Sorry dude. You are doing all the right things though. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but you just got into the tunnel.

Good that you are in therapy for sure! That helped me through a lot. At the end of the day you need to take care of you. And remember that you will have to live with your decisions for the rest of your life so act in a manner of dignity and self respect.

You’re the prize, king. Not her. A rebound girl helps…maybe. Might not be for you. Might be. Just be honest with your intentions and goals.

She can get any man, okay. Sure. But can she keep any man? Probably not. I recommend reading the book rationale male.

It would have worked until she said she cheated. Then I walked out and filed for divorce. Highly recommend it. Things will either progress better or move towards a logical conclusion. It helps not to be stagnate.

I also filed first and am so happy I did. You can seize the initiative and take the process at whatever pace you want.

Picking a lawyer is like picking a doctor. Talk to multiple for a free consultation. If you don’t like the one you have you can switch whenever you want. Have you considered marriage counseling or separation first? I would recommend to just focus on being the best version of yourself you can be during this process. At the end of the day you have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. So act in a way that you have self respect and dignity. A manner in which you will not be ashamed of yo…

Yeah if the roles were reversed. And good for you for not caring what a woman would think of it. You shouldn’t. And neither should you ever give full disclosure to your count.

Then maybe she isn’t the right person for you. But ask yourself how you would feel if the roles were reversed. I recommend reading Rationale Male. It helped me a lot when I started navigating these types of scenarios

To play the devil’s advocate, a girl with a high body count has experience. Specifically, she has experience with her own sexuality and knowing what it is she wants and who she wants. What matters the most is who she is now and who she intends to be with you in the future. Just because she has a promiscuous past doesn’t mean she will cheat on you. I am a firm believer that once a cheater always a cheater though. So it is important to differentiate between someone who knows her own sexuality and …

This is similar to me right now. Married 7.5 years. Wife hardly made any money until year 5. Even then I still make about 6x as much. And she is walking away with a 50/50 as well as credits for any debt I brought into the marriage (student loan debt - even though I paid it off in its entirety 12 years ahead of schedule). It’s not a fair system. It’s dumb. Money is a replaceable resource. Time is not. That’s what I keep saying to myself and it seems to be working out just fine.

Been there brother. Very recently in fact. I highly recommend going to therapy and learning to forgive. The sooner you can do that the sooner you can move on and put her behind you. It’s a tragedy. And you are the victim. But don’t let the villain hold power over your emotional and mental health just because they hold power over taking half of everything you own.
