This would only explain clustering if over half of children lived only with their mother. Second, are you suggesting it's more OK for single mothers to abuse their children? Otherwise your argument is invalid. No, I am suggesting that maybe, with the same numbers of parents mothers abuse as often as fathers. Page 4 of this document, you see that about 23.6% of children live with only their mother, and about 3.7% with only their father.
