First full week in my new apartmentAm I the only one that kept the house? She wanted to leave and wanted a smaller house. I am glad because I love this house and have put a lot of work into it. Its too big for just me, but I think it has been a less traumatic process because I could stay. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/26 05:03 PM

Getting divorced, not sure how I feel about itYou will feel better on the other side. Trust me, there are things that you don't even think about that are not great about this situation. Life is too short to just survive. Look forward to the opportunity to have great experiences and emotions. You will also be in a better place for your kids and the time you have with them, while less (assuming custody split) will be higher quality. You read about some really rough situations that people have to deal with, but even if its amicable and chill, … | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/26 02:04 AM

Any other dads... [Light-hearted]I think it helps that I can just focus on the kids, have better quality time than I ever did before and try not to worry about the little stuff like a messy kitchen or whatever. Then I can power clean and enjoy the house being perfect for a couple weeks. (doing two week rotations). After awhile, even my oldest daughter would clean things which she never used to do before. I never asked her to, she just deep cleaned last week. I think the time we spend now is better than before. So the 50/50, los… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/26 02:08 AM
Seeking advice on how to keep inheritance separate with divorce on the horizonfrom my own experience, that's not how it works in most places. If you can show it hasn't been sufficiently mixed with other marital assets then you can keep it. (im sure lawyers will try to claim it, for sure, but if its in its own account or wasn't like mixed in many transactions in an account.. its possible to keep it. But ya, lots of factors) | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/26 01:28 AM
I just realized I've been keeping score for years - anyone else?Definitely not a healthy thing to be doing, but I think partners need to put in more than 50% effort in general. You can't look for the middle, you just have to do what you can all the time. Sometimes one person just can't and they need you to pickup most/all the effort, but that can't last forever. Ultimately both partners have to put in effort. Just comes down to the attitude you both have for the relationship. Seems related to ability to forgive and a persons default assumption for the partne… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/01/26 02:02 AM
