have you been to halifax? do you know how many parents get house parties the instant they leave for an evening? It's been a while since I was a teenager, but holding those parents liable might be a stretch imho. Canada isn't as puritan as the states when it comes to things like this

i agree. I do find it only works when enough people don't call them on their bullshit though.

I agree, civil law is the place to deal with these kind of things, adding it to criminal law has created all kinds of nonsense.

of course, they are moving forward as if it were a rape case. If they would have tried this as a cyber bullying, defamation of character type scenario, then there is plenty to work with it seems. But yes, I was specifically referring to he said/she said testimony. cooberation always helps.

maybe. Problem is it's hard to know by a few heresay-esque facts from a newpaper. But this is the damn well best reason one shouldn't take testimony for gospel. Kudos to the courts for ackgnowleaging that

huh... I've always used to draft argument as a historical example, vietnam already kind of proved that the draft is not a good system to ensure public support, or good morale, and I don't see it being used in the modern age. But showing the womens sufferage movement through the lens of the draft is a great way to show that male privelidge gets way more publicity than male responsibility I find. Though on a non-gender opinion of it... putting skin in the game for the average person is a great way…

I'd rather they start to accept some of the responsibilities that come along with it, or we shed them ourselves. It's a much easier sell, and theres no chance you push the pendulum too far and start pulling some bullshit on the other side of the spectrum IMHO And I'm not sure of the utopian dreams you speak of, I'm referring to very attainable goals. Child custody, parental surrender, freed from the bonds of forced servitude, removal of the stigma of a man with his child alone, having mens or co…

Theres a few gems in there. I'm with you on the libertarian part, but there is way too much 'race to the bottom' than there is bringing us up. Too many are thinking of knocking women down a peg or two, and not enough are thinking of bringing us up to their level of rights in society. Adding the responsibilities we have to womens rights as well. Instead, we see a lot of 'we don't get it, they shouldn't get it' this is a bad way to look at it if you ask me, its taking a step back imo

you know what they say about assuming right? I most certainly am not a libertarian, but do find issue with the lack of introspection, irony of bemoaning feminists and then subsequently doing the same immoral fallacies (but it's ok because we are victime right?) and the need to succeed by punishing others, instead of brining our grievances up to the level of the best in society. And if you honestly think that MRA advocates are truly in the moral highground, with no problems to address, then it mi…

I'm not talking about change aversion, or crying from feminist bullshit. I'm talking about people who think changing social norms involve DDos attacks, or otherwise alienating people who would otherwise agree, and be for change. theres always some blowback from people not wanting to change the status quo, but totally different IMHO than people who just want to shit on the whole idea because of some irrational patriarchy bullshit

I couldn't tell you. that would be a question for criminal proscecutors, detectives, and jurors. I don't claim to be an expert. I do know that there are more and more cases where they are able to sort it out, but this is surely a complex topic, and I would be pretty arrogant to think i had all the answers. Guess the question is then, which way to we lean on, assume the best, or worst of people? I would probably go with whichever would do the least amount of damage, but that just makes everyone s…

see when you say thinking, you are implying that the person is <100% certain. And with this kind of memory, it just isn't the case. Thats why I'm really disturbed by your choices of words... think, guess... these imply a completely different scneario. In this case, imagine if you you knew something, 100%, but in reality, it's just your brain putting together disparate pieces of information, than calling it a certainty. I'm not forgetting that at all, we are disagreeing on why that's even allowed to happen. The whole point of punishment is deterrent, and isolation from society(unable to do it again) and this solves neither. I would much rather the court not reckognize testimony ilke this, than just punish people, who are testifying in good faith. Again, I can't put it any plainer, we aren't talking about foggy, forgetful, or any of the words you are using... WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CERTAINTY. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING …

I'm trying to answer, but you're falsy assuming too much. short answer, better be expecting a civil lawsuit. If not the accuser, than the city for infringing on my rights. At the very least, I would want a public apology from overzealous prosecutors. Considering myself lucky though, Aaron Schwartz had it much worse than I. I'm going to disagree with your first point. What any peaceful movement needs is critical mass. You don't get that by being an idiot in front of U of TO. You get that the way original femenists/labour did. You start news letters, you point out grievances that people had, building collective knowledge. You offer concrete action that the average person can make. Do you know what radicals do? alienate, vilify and remove motivation for others to help. Check out the history of the labour movement, or…

Are you sure you want that? I've already been banned from the red pill for 'diluting the message'... suggesting that someone switch the genders when calling foul, and seeing if it still makes sense... or not to assume you're right until you have some facts to back it up.
/r/MensRights24/04/13 06:47 PM

Ok... Memory has a method where unknowns in an otherwise known event are filled in with the best of it's ability... subconciously. It's one of the flaws with human memory. As the person recalling, you will swear up and down it's the way you remember it, but in reality, you didn't put it into long term memory, and your brain just filled in the gaps. So it's not mallicious, and it's the reason why memory isn't trusted in courts (except for rape cases) You are suggesting that something people have …

I just responded to one of those a second ago! I am noticing it though, just resubbed a day or two ago. I can't understand the complete lack of irony of decrying femenist victim worship, then doing the exact same thing

if you're asking me if I care about that, of course I do. If you're asking if it's good policy to replace one victim for another, I don't see the benefit. Now, I'm going to spell it out, becase i don't think you understand what I'm saying. Human memory isn't foolproof, in fact it's completely fallable. The courts shouldn't be giving it the weight it has, and using faulty evidence for a court is a bad idea, everyone knows that. But your idea of letting it stand, and then just throwing the book at…

Different issue. My thoughts are the civil courts are much better equipped to handle slander and libel charges. I'm also not talking about flippant disregard to the gravity of an accusation. Memory often fills in the gaps, causing people to honestly believe what they are saying... I want to seperate the two, since the latter is the unintended victim of your 'idea' And I don't consider it a solution when you replace one group of downtrodden with another one. replacing flasly accused men with fals…

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now for that approach (good for you) Basically, I see a lot of MRM types falling into the same trap femenist movement has... A bit fight to see who is the biggest victim, get riled up over everything etc. I'd rather go back to being an old school man... These are the cards you are dealt, work with it. No one should have to pay for college. Most western countries signed off in the 70s for free higher education for the masses. Considering the payoff on investment for society, it should be a no brainer.

you should read above, they did testing on this during the debate on drug testing for welfare... turns out the usage rates are lower than average... turns out drugs aren't there as an opiate for the poor, but a luxury for the bored and well enough off.

thats kind of like the argument that pushing the death penalty on lesser crimes will act as a deterrent. In reality, it just pushes those lesser crimes into more serious ones, since the punishment is too heavy to justify not committing more crime to get 'away' with it. I'm a fan of the civil method... you ruin a mans life with a false accusation, then I guess you are paying for his quality of life, same as alimony. Condiering the court already treats eyewitness testimony with a skeptical eye in almost all other areas, wouldn't you be better served by ensuring consistent treatment from the courts instead of punishing someone who has already suffered? the human brain is a fickle thing, and memory is inherently unreliable... best not to punish people for the failings of the human body

poor people generally don't have the life skills to properly handle resources. If you've earned 750k, you learn how to earn and save it. If you've never had it before, you just keep buying on impule until it's gone.

once the accusation is made, it's pretty much sorted out (or not) and I don't see how a statute is neccisary. Since it's basically trying to criminalize libel and/or slander... I've always been a fan of using civil courts for this. You don't have to go to jail for a false accusation, but being on the hook for alimony type payments for the accused loss of life he had become accustomed to seems fair to me. It's honestly about self improvement, wrapped in a fallacy. When most decent people get to the point where they do the things you have in here, they usually carve their own niche. You don't put people in boxes, you are singling out certain personality traits that you are trying to improve, and using them as your metric.
