1	The Elephant ... That’s silly, and you likely know it. Some men are weak, others disabled, and some are elderly, and yet the elderly often hold the most power despite their inability to protect it. You’re also speaking strictly from a conservative Christian standpoint, some religions don’t have male domination built in, like Sikhism. Many modern religious traditions have rejected male domination that has been built into their traditions, like more liberal versions of Christianity. 1	The Elephant ... I’m talking about ancient Israel’s method for divorce I.e. getting women divorced when their husbands refused, not modern times. Yes, we both agree headship existed at that time. 1	The Elephant ... Israel doesn’t allow divorce unless the husband permits it, that’s correct factually, and that’s wrong morally. Its based on the Torah, or if you’re Christian the Old Testament, in which men could authorize divorce but women couldn’t. However, men from the woman’s birth family or other supportive members of the community used to beat the unwilling husband with sticks until he authorized divorce, or at least that’s what’s been claimed to get around it.
