That’s when they retire, correct? Not sure if that accounts for cost of living during retirement, assisted living in old age, etc. This just seems overly optimistic.

Tbh a lot of people are in a gray area too. I told my husband early on that I wasn’t set on having kids due to lifelong health issues. Later in our marriage I checked with him again and said if you wanted kids, I would be up for it. But he said no. So we are childfree. Sometimes it’s complicated and people are just trying to live their lives... people forget that these things aren't black and white. Not everyone wants the same thing in life for LOTS of different reasons.

Wow I'm so sorry, I can't even imagine. One of my friends said it was in the top 2 or few traumatic moments of her life, and the other friend found a doctor who would do her 2nd Mirena under anesthesia & said it was a night and day experience. So why is it still an issue in this day and age?! Ugh. So grateful my husband got a vasectomy.

We can’t keep letting “it’s better than labor” justify women’s pain. I agree it is in fact better than getting pregnant which is why I got one. It SUCKED getting it put in. We have the technology, this is 2024. Why is that pain acceptable in the medical world..? If anesthesia were standard for IUD insertion I think a lot more women would be on board.

The thought that all or most regular women are just out there sleeping around all the time is extreme and not the case. If you’re unhappy about the number of people someone has slept with, or get the feeling they are promiscuous, they are simply not the person for you.

A lot of the people I know who have waited until later to try have had trouble conceiving. I think that’s at least part of it. Fertility drops a lot in our 30s so it can be harder in general to have kids (or the number you want).

Right, I’ve had “girls’ trips” to Las Vegas with my two lifelong friends in order to see Britney Spears perform… according to these people, married women just shouldn’t do that, lol. Sad for those people if they’ve chosen someone they can’t at least marginally trust to behave themselves.
