You say you’re going to therapy, has your therapist not pointed out that you are obviously being abused?

7lb a week is pretty extreme. You okay? If you are feeling ok I wouldn’t worry about it but that’s a lot of weight dude

Basically the 20th time that she lied to my face even though we both knew the truth.

Dude that’s heroic. 100k in legal fees or 100k OTD?

There is an equitable distribution of blame, but we all know how fair that is.

Yeah I hear you. “Reasonable” is the word that holds the power here. I’m a tax cpa and every year am surprised by the punitive spouse leaving money on the table. It’s typically not the male.

Not trying to be an ass but most aren’t earning $200k+ and limiting out of the child tax credit

What’s your filing status (single, married, head of household)? The child tax credit is $2,000 per child so if you paid her $2,000 to claim the kid, you would get $2,000 less of tax to owe. But you’d also get to claim head of household (assuming you file single). The people here saying that “whoever claims the kid first gets the benefit” is not correct. It’s whoever had the kid for 50.0000001% of the overnights in the taxable year. Sure, whoever files first easily claims it first. But uh, there’…

Prioritizing your daughter is clutch. But let’s reign in the very thought of what our ex will think. We gotta nip that one in the bud. She’s dead to us outside of being our daughter’s mom. Easy to say. Difficult to execute. Talk to me. I need support too.

Yo. 18 years is a long time. I am actually few months into my separation and it’s super complicated. I guess they all are complicated. I go through stages of grief. I don’t really know what to say, but I could say a lot. I’m just trying to be a little bit better than I was yesterday. Give myself grace (after shit talking myself) when I act impulsively and give in to unhealthy temptations. How are you?

As long as you and the mother aren’t claiming the same child, the irs won’t ask.

No wonder y’all become terrorists. Jk. The advice on here is great. Go home, gray rock and show your kids who the steady hand is. If your Quran tells you to suffer thru it, come join me tomorrow morning at a Christian bible study.

Crazy how different experiences can be. I’d love for her to up and go and to have my kids to myself except one day a month. My stbxw is an alcoholic and is just constantly angry and bitter. It would be a blessing if she just left. Sorry you’re going through this. Count your blessings. I guess I can be thankful that there is a chance she gets her stuff together and can be a decent mom to our kids.

Thank you. I’ve been at this 3+ years and I do know it. But it’s also that her irrationality has me like, is it me, did I do something? She was cool after rehab for a few weeks and now it’s been worse than ever 3.5 months later.

What are your thoughts of my experience where she is an alcoholic and amphetamine addict? The abuse from that combo makes it a 24/7 struggle. I divorced because it’s absolutely insurmountable

I took mine off for good when she told me I have no business knowing where she is in her drug and alcohol recovery process.

I have an attorney. I DM’d you a whole spiel. I feel like I already mishandled the situation or at least missed opportunity

Dude I would love to talk to you. Mine was alcohol. Then baker acted by her own family, which led to her having to go to therapy which gave her the adhd meds. A complete shit show.

Mine is abusive but functional. She’s not afraid to use the child as a pawn. My atty said to do what protects my kid. No police report to file. She can be drunk and at home as far as I know

Dude I would love to talk to you. I’m about to face mediation. I filed because my wife’s a raging alcoholic and refuses to get help. She’s accused me of so much wild gross shit. I feel like the whole legal system needs to crumble right now.

My lawyer said abandonment is off the table due to leaving due to abuse and her alcoholism. However she can withhold the kids without court intervention

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
