"He's not really that bad", "I'm sure he would rise to the occasion when he had to", "He wouldn't disappoint his parents like that". Nope. I was RIGHT all along. Same for birthdays. As a result, he ended up getting his Dad nothing for a major milestone birthday. I always thought that maybe he would rise to the occasion when he had to?
