thats not really feminism destroying lives. thats "im going to take you to court" attitude americans have. The whole shit thats going on here is a dispute among family members.

That's like saying "No all there is to Christianity is that the lord is my savior", there is much more that goes on in a religion than who the top dog is or is not.

Well when the research shows up, just think of this conversation, and say "gee he was right, they flip flopped.. again!" Medical and diet research is always changing, theyre always finding out new stuff. And the stuff they've "discovered" about this topic is so shallow, that it is bound to flip flop.

Want to start a pool? 10 years from now another special interest group will encourage some researchers to find some new research about circumcision, they'll find it to be medically advantageous again (like they did a few years ago) to be circumcised, then someone like you will say "ah well it was in a school book and the school is reputable so it must be right..." There is nothing in your clipped out segments that show any proof of ANYTHING. it's just a few people getting togethor and saying "oh…

To be an athiest, you must have a certain set of beliefs, which are primarly set by scientists, people who call themselves scientists, and people who are just a little too excited to use some of those big words they learned in college.

You took a FUCKING CLASS that said it was bad? Yeah because no school books have EVER been wrong. The authors of school books are NOT BIASED. yes yes.... I'm sure you yourself can't think of any other times where a teacher or a book has tried to push their personal views on to you, that you KNOW were wrong...

Like I've said over and over and over. There is no REAL proof that circumcision is damaging to a kid beyond the damage done to kids that get ear piercings at a young age. Should we outlaw ear piercings because you happen to think theyre wrong? Psycholigical damage and diminishing enjoyment of sex is all speculation, there is no substantial proof. Atheism is not the absence of religion. Atheism is a religion that exists as a result of theistic religions.

I've never seen anyone try to compare religion to hair, good job. However, whenever you talk about what you see to be true about the origins of life, or what happens after death, you can't explain any of it without the phrase "I believe". You believe we're all descendants of stardust, and when we die we just become apart of the earth again. So circumcision makes no sense under that belief structure, because it only makes sense for you to try and experience ultimate happiness while you are alive.…

I say they are free to practice as they choose. You can't go around telling people their religion is wrong, everyone thinks everyone else's religion is wrong.
/r/MensRights31/03/10 07:52 PM

Except nobody has even proved it is even abusive yet. Research is still on the line on whether it is good for you, not good for you but not bad for you, or bad for you. The exact same debate is going on about cow milk, should we outlaw cow milk?

But milk is bad for you, if you drink too much you can throw up and it'll go everywhere. There is no scientific evidence that it is actually good for you, and it can make you sick. That it child cruelty, and if youre mean to your kids they could face lifelong psychological problems where they get jelous of their friends who haven't ever drank milk before. Not familiar still?

If you get health insurance BEFORE you get the condition, then you won't get rejected for a pre-existing condition. The whole point of insurance (of any kind) is that you buy it BEFORE you get sick/house burns down/etc. Perhaps instead of getting health insurance you oughta just pull out a loan from the bank when you get sick. You can think it says whatever you want, but the jyst is that they are now requiring health care companies are being required to sign on people who procrastinated getting …

Oh please, feel free to add to the debate, why not just throw in a clever 1 liner, aren't you edgy? The child has no say so. Here's another thought, "milk provides all the vitamins and minerals that kids need to grow strong bones", as it turns out , milk really "provides all the vitamins and minerals that CALFS need to grow strong bones" cow milk is for baby cows, and all humans are actually lactose intolerant to some extent. Should we outlaw giving milk to children "without their consent"? Should it be considered ethically wrong to give kids a drink that they are allergic to (to atleast some …

So... a parent should be able to strap down his 24 year old son and have him circumcised? I was not saying that, I was making a point to show how long it takes for a brain to fully develop, and that an infant has a LONGGGG way to go before he can start making the most educated decisions possible We already know that circumcision doesn't confer any appreciable benefit; it's a religio-cultural genital-cutting ritual performed on completely healthy boys. You forget that not everyone is an athiest l…

Exactly, Female genital mutilation is on the SAME EXACT BOAT as Male genital mutilation. It's more popular (or maybe was) in africa and asia than america. But it is something parent do to their kids for what they believe is best for their kids, if you don't agree with it, then don't do it to your kids.
/r/MensRights31/03/10 02:43 AM

So you think parents circumsize their children for the same reason they put pictures upin their house. "hey lets circumcise our kid, it'll make his penis look cute" Parents do this as a religious or traditional practice. They're doing what they believe is best for their kid. They're not playing dressup.

If public nudity is wrong is a different deal, the issue here is that she didn't do this for some kind of social cause, she did it to promote herself, she isn't making society a better place, she is using public issues as an instrument to promote herself. Children do not have sovereignty over anything BECAUSE THEY ARE CHILDREN. This is how it has been since the beginning of existence. Children have under developed brains and bodies, they don't have the ability to know what is best for them. In fact our brains don't finish developing until we're 25. how is it ever acceptable for an outside force to intervene on the object's (the child) behalf? You're being inconsistent. If you don't like the procedure, then don't do to it. I think a stronger principal should be that the government can't dictate to us what morality is. It is each parent's individual decision to choose how to raise THEIR kids, the government should only be intervening if the kid might be facing life threatning circumstances (such as neglect), not religious practices that some people think might maybe someday, if things don't go right, cause him to enjoy sex less. I don't plan to circumsise my kid…

female empowerment... One of my favorite topics., I have no clue why such a thing is considered a positive attribute anywhere. Whenever someone says "female empowerment" they always think "hurray good for them". but if you attach the phrase to anything else it sounds evil. If the man kills his children, and could not pay for the prosecution, then they would also go to the wife for payment as well, and if she didn't pay up they might go to the next closest relative... It's simply an entity wishing to collect their debts. Since the government is being owed money, it means if that they don't receive a payment it's coming out of tax payer money. This is not systemically targeting a man because he is male, this is simply targeting a person because he is the debtors clo…

Not really a mens rights thing.. Yeah a man got screwed by his wife. But it is not untypical for creditors to go to family members of the debtor to receive payment. It's common practice. This is why a lot of people buy life insurance, so when they die, they won't pass their debts on to their kids.

I think alimony and child support are appropriate sometimes if they are implemented correctly. Alimony ought to be a temporary thing, a small amount of cash to help the dependent spouse survive until she (or HE) gets a job. The key word is temporary, meaning a couple months or so, this elimantes problems of people staying in bad or abusive marriages for money reasons. However paying alimony for long periods of time makes no sense, you shouldn't have an obligation to pay her way through life. I t…

Alimony ought to be treated like unemployed insurance. The woman needs to show she is a) not able to support herself, b) relied on her husbands income for finances and c) Actively trying to seek employment and if she is employed she needs to make a very good case as to why she isn't able to support herself despite having a job.

tl;dr version: Women want to do all the work and complain about men doing nothing. At the same time women don't want men to do any work because it hurt's their feelings. So next time your wife or girlfriend is bitching at you for sitting around all day playing video games, just smile and say "your welcome".

It's always been my favorite double standard. In the gym or the army or something women are capable of being as strong as men (and stronger). However in sexual assault or domestic violence situations it's perceived impossible that a woman could have acted aggressively on a man because she is too weak. I don't care which standard we choose, but pick one damnit because we don't need 2.

It IS important. But "mens rights" isn't a proper forum for the topic. When you post it here you are saying "see how women are trampling all over mens rights! she raped him!". It's not an issue of inequality. It's an issue of people in a position of authority taking advantage of kids. If the teacher was male this story would probably be in /r/rapestories rather than /r/mensrights. The only reason it's here is because someone wanted to turn this into an "us vs them" thing.

Exactly, this is the type of extremeties that MensRights seem to use to help be seen as victims in as many ways possible. It makes MensRights seem juvenile trying to cry about everything, rather than the things that are important.

EVERTHING is "extreme and or controversial". From video games, to movies, to books, to news stories, to music. We live in a world where you're not allowed to be "medium", you can't stand in the middle. Whatever you do you have to take it to the extreme.

Blowing up a government building would raise awareness too, but probably not in the best interests of men's rights. "The anger and stuff" just makes men's rights seem juvenile. The original (and real) feminism knew that too. The only reason the newer more extreme feminism is working is because people get extreme and real feminism confused because they have the same name.

This is why I don't tell people that I support "men's rights", because to too many people think "men's rights" simply means "reverse feminism". I've heard women complain about their seats being pissed all over. I haven't experienced this myself because I am a man, but apparently women like to "hover" over public bathrooms to avoid making contact with the supposedly aids infested seat, which causes their piss to go everywhere.

That's what I was thinking the whole time. If you marry someone you don't click wih of course everything about the marriage seems like hell "shes a brat who spends all my money, put us in debt with the wedding, divorced me, took my kids, and my money, and my house, shes a fucking leech" The real problem is that people marry for the wrong reasons. They marry because theyre afraid of trying to get married when their older. They feel all their friends have gotten married so they need to as well. I'…

Even then, it's of the simplest inconveniences ever. There are lots of things I'm used to but I wouldn't make a fuss about if it changed. For instance I always put the remote in the same place when I watch TV, but if someone comes over and puts the remote somewhere else, I wont cause a shitstorm (even if I have to search for it), I'll just pick up the remote and put it back in my usual spot. When the lid is up on the toilet, you see its up when you walk in, and you put it down. If you're very la…

I think the writer of this article lost touch of the foundation in which comedic sitcoms are built. Theyre not meant to mimic anyone's life, or take the average of all of a demographic's qualities and put them in a single character. They take points out of life that everyone can relate to (like that time when I couldn't find where we keep the extra AA batteries) and then they exaggerate them (baby you know how helpless I am, I can't even find the toilet paper and it's permanently attached to a w…

But if you shelter the child from religion, wouldn't that also be a form of brainwashing? It goes both ways. There is nothing wrong with introducing your children to your walk of life, as long as you still show them the world.

I don't get why we can't remove the gender element from this. The true problem here is that "people fight". There shouldn't be a campaign to stop male on female (or vice versa) violence, there should just be a campaign to promote solving our problems without using force. To prove my point, I'm sure there are plenty of homosexuals who get in heated arguments with their significant other, and I bet some of the times it leads to violence. Obviously the disagreements aren't about gender differences.…

While a great product, they chose poor wording The single most common reason was that they wanted to share the responsibility for contraception. You are not sleeping with men, you are sleeping with one particular man you are sharing your bank accounts and everything else with. the pill wouldn't be "sharing" the responsibility, it would be "hey you do it, I don't wanna". Not that there is anything wrong with that arrangement, it doesn't somehow make the responsibility "shared" though.

I agree. If the woman wishes to take on 100% custody, she should be ready to take on 100% financial responsibility. (Same thing the other way around). Additionally, if they opt for 50% custody of the child, they should both take on 50% financial responsibility. Having children can't just be an emotional thing, parents-to-be need to ask themselves "am I prepared to do this".
/r/MensRights10/02/10 06:46 PM

Both parents are responsible, both made the choice to have sex, and both understood the possible outcome. If they choose to abort the child, the man shouldn't be seen as any more irresponsible than the woman. (Or in my argument, they should both be seen as equally responsible for not trying to raise a child when they both know the timing is wrong)
/r/MensRights10/02/10 06:41 PM

I'm not saying the answer is to take away the rights of others. I'm saying if the child custody is split 50/50, each parent should have 50 % say so in the childs life, and 50% responsibility to finance the child. if the woman goes for 75% custody, she needs to be prepared to have 75% responsibility to finance the child, and if she goes for 100% custody she needs to be prepared to have 100% financial responsibility. Most court cases go something like this "I'm pregnant, I hate that guy I want to …

It spins both ways, my religion prohibits bearing a child I can't properly raise. Now an undue burden is being placed onto me. Laws aren't supposed to vary based on what any religion thinks, separation of church and state.

Enforcing equal responsibility plays an important role of equal custody. If women were to be approached in a manner that they need to be be just as responsible as the man, then society would be more accepting of the idea that the man should have equal custody. We need to remove the option of having the woman take the baby, while the man pays for it, our laws need to encourage parents to stay together and both support the baby in a loving family that wants to care for eachother. Right now all of …

Men can get dragged into paying child support. How is that any different? Your saying it's ok for a woman to have a large say so in a man's well being, but it is over the line for the man to have a say so in the woman's body. Both parent's should both have equal responsibility and equal say so about the child. It makes no sense that the man must take on all the responsibility while the woman takes on all of the say so.

How is that any different from when women force fathers to pay child support, that has a profound effect on fathers beyond just their body.

Most (all?) religions that say abortion is wrong ALSO say having sex when not in a loving marriage is wrong. I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but chances are the individuals in most abortion scenarios do not lead their life by the word of god.

These type of issues may not seem important, like they are just simply squabbles of two irreponsible people. However laws over children in turn impact other laws. If a woman wishes to execute absolute control over the child's life, then we need to abolish child support. Current child laws for fathers really just put fathers in the position of "ahhh whatever you do please don't rob me dry!", and most women have no problem doing that. If a woman can't properly finance the kid herself, then it is i…

I think this might be bad reporting. I could see these things labeling people at potential abuductors if they weren't the biological parents or court appointed gaurdians. If a stranger attempted to access a small child's medical records, a flag ought to go off somewhere. The article keeps stating if the parent does things like access grades, medical records, or make flight plans that the parent would get flagged, but I'm thinking the original text didn't say that. Shit like this is the reason why we have inequality. Most activitists say they want equality, but they really are just self interested and want a better life while sacrificing the quality of life for the other demographic. The end result is there is no real definition of equality. When a girl says equality, most people assume she means that girls should be worshiped. I'm hoping that in a couple years when the roles of men and women switch, that the public will finally realise that programs to benfit specific demographcis (based on age, race, sex, etc) is a bad idea. If discrimination really is illegal, then woman only scholarships sould be illegal. Lots of reasons, as somone else suggested, a lot of companies are dropping full time employees and trying to get part time employees to do more hours (full time employees are mostly male, part time employees are mostly female) The other factor is that whenever you fire a woman you risk getting sued.
