I completely agree! Just making myself go out alone to cultivate my own hobbies has increased my confidence. The gym in particular has helped tremendously, because I’m getting stronger and caring less about what people around me are doing.

I thought I found one a few weeks ago, but knew it was way too soon to call him a HVM since we just started going on dates. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s actually a HVM. Thanks to FDS, I’ve learned to step back and observe his actions to see if he meets my standards instead of focusing on whether he likes me. I’ll be a little sad to let him go if it comes down to that, but I value my peace and happiness over any man.

I used this tactic the other day and the guy said “oh you can’t cook, so you’re not wifey material?” No I’m not, leave me alone now 😹

Holy crap, this is exactly what happened to me! The only reason I know it’s not your brother is because my ex’s sisters definitely don’t follow FDS.

Do you recall how long he spent being single?

I’ve been wanting to try archery for months, so I finally signed myself up for classes and I can’t wait. I also splurged on a badass pair of thigh high boots.

Thank you for your encouragement, it really means a lot right now! Working on being ok with my solitude and trying to figure out my individual happiness. It’s been tough trying to detach from the person I thought I was going to marry, but I guess they’re making it easier by getting engaged to someone they’ve been dating for three months 🤷🏻‍♀️

As someone still healing and processing after a breakup, this surprisingly made me tear up. I’m so happy for you!

My ex and I went from poor high school students to him making six figures. Looking back, he definitely put in more time/effort when he was poor. After he started making more money, he would buy me nice purses. BUT in his mind, him spending that much money meant he didn’t need to put in that much effort with quality time. Going forward, it’s not necessarily about how much he spends but how much effort he puts in. I used to remind him to do ANYTHING for a Christmas gift just to be disappointed 🤦🏻‍…

Don’t forget about the possibility of scammers taking advantage of lonely people. Met a love bomber scammer who kept trying to “help me” make money via cryptocurrency investing

I wish I thought like you at 25, I would have saved myself a lot of unnecessary stress and heartbreak. 25 is so young, but society wants you to think time is running out already. Please do all the things you want to do. The relationship you have with yourself will last a lifetime.

Also drop the man who refuses to stand up for you when his friends are rude to you or “jokes” with you. My ex would tell me I should tell his friends to shut up if they made me uncomfortable, instead of him telling them they needed to back off.

Yes to lady dates, they are so fun and you know it’ll be a good time. There really is no excuse for guys, making reservations in this day and age is beyond easy. I was looking at reservations for a restaurant and everything is booked up for weeks, I checked again a few hours later and found something for this weekend.

He just became 10x hotter after I looked him up; he was previously arrested for openly supporting Myanmar’s anti-coup protests. Gotta love a man that’s not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

As others have already said, he didn’t react in a way that is acceptable to you. What you decide to do is ultimately up to you, but I would not recommend bringing up your cheating ex-fiancé and trying to justify your feelings. He didn’t acknowledge how you felt in the first place, bringing up your past trauma will not help you.

I lost touch with her years ago, but regret not getting to know her better! Past me was too busy being a pickme 🤦🏻‍♀️
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/08/21 01:45 AM

I wish I had gotten to know her better, but during that time I was a huge pickmeisha and was too focused on my relationship. There were many international students at my college that were solely there so their family/them could brag about graduating from a US college, so many of them came from wealthy backgrounds. A couple thousand probably meant little to them, but I still admire how she got her tuition paid.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/08/21 01:44 AM

In college, an acquaintance started seeing an international student. After just a few months, he offered to buy her a Chanel purse. She asked him to pay for her tuition instead and he did!

Also don’t assume your man is HV just because somebody else is chasing them. You should still leave an unhappy/toxic relationship even if somebody else is pursuing them, don’t be afraid of the unknown.

I’ve been practicing face yoga everyday, so paying more attention to my face. I realized I scrunch my forehead ALL the time! I don’t want to get Botox right now, so just trying to massage/release tension several times a day.

I also have something that a small and noninvasive procedure would fix, maybe two people in my entire life have ever noticed and commented on it. It is purely cosmetic and unnecessary, but will make a difference to me. I just haven’t gotten the procedure because I’m trying a cheaper method that may yield the same results over a longer period of time.

I think the reasoning behind the Botox is what matters. If someone is only getting Botox to appeal to the male gaze, that’s not a healthy mindset. However, if a woman genuinely just wants Botox to feel happier/confident for themselves, that’s the only reason necessary.

I ended a 10 year relationship around March, and am also grateful there are no children or legal hoops (not married) to complicate the situation. Hope you are feeling better every day! It’s been scary as hell, but with each passing month I am more at peace with my decision.

I’ve actually been thinking about this recently. My soulmate should be attracted to me even if I’m in plain/comfortable clothing. If a guy isn’t attracted to me when I’m in everyday clothes, he ain’t the one for me. I’m on vacation right now and packed simple outfits with no makeup (brought tons of skincare instead). On my first day, I was second guessing my decision after seeing tons of people dolled up. Then I realized I’m just here to relax and my priority is to be comfortable 🤷🏻‍♀️

My mom was a SAHM/babysitter, and started taking care of a baby that was only a few months old. The mom was a single mom because the NVM ran off as soon as she found out she was pregnant, but she had a good job and eventually started making six figures. She stayed single for years just focusing on her career and child, and even when she started dating again never introduced any men to her child unless it was serious (I think her child met two men max during a period of 12 years). She would give …

Yes that was exactly my problem, my breasts aren’t the same size. I feel like women are expected to wear a bikini for certain activities/sports, and we get weird looks for not conforming. As someone who’s had to take care of chronically ill family members, his tone is very selfish. He talks about just wanting the girl he fell in love with again and not having to worry about her. Basically he wants her to get better so he doesn’t have to suffer. The concerning part is he’s not asking advice about how to cope with this newfound stress without negatively affecting his girlfriend or asking about how to make her life more comfortable right now. As a recovering pickmeisha, yes drop your friend. When I was in that mindset, I could not/would not see beyond my relationship. You cannot change them, and you’ll exhaust yourself trying to reason with them. Maybe they’ll wise up, but maybe they won’t. Either way, you can’t let yourself get dragged down. It’s a painful decision to make, but your sanity is more important.

“A wise woman once said fuck this shit, and she lived happily ever after.” I can relate so much to being scared of being alone, like I stayed in my relationship for that exact reason even if I didn’t realize it at the time. It hasn’t been an easy road, and I haven’t completely reached her mindset. I know I’ll get there one day soon, but until then I’m slowly getting comfortable with myself.

Sis, you are not alone. I too was with my ex for 11 years (forever girlfriend 🤡), and believe me you will start to glow up after you leave. Focus on yourself 💜 Please don’t be too hard on yourself, I know it’s easy to blame ourselves for staying too long. First of all, be proud that you are now able to recognize all the ways he did not deserve your love. While it is normal to feel upset about the past, don’t spend all your energy blaming yourself. Be kind to your past and current self, you are learning from your mistakes and that’s the most important part. You are the only person who is guaranteed to be in your life forever, cherish yourself and look towards the future 💜 I’m not saying ignore your feelings, but don’t let yourself forget that this…

The last woman’s story about having a joint account for their son’s expenses 🤡 The guy won’t even take care of his son 100% financially, makes me wonder how much of the parenting is up to the woman as well. I know of a couple that also goes 50/50 on EVERYTHING, and I always thought it was weird as hell. Love this! Having crushes on kpop boy bands can be a slippery slope, because we’re still putting mental energy towards men. At the same time, it makes it easier to ignore unwanted attention since scrotes can’t compare to kpop idols.

Glad I’m not the only one that had an issue with that reasoning, especially the part about waiting for the right person to come into her life. Sometimes I get thoughts like that and I’m still reminding myself that I shouldn’t be waiting for anybody!

My ex used to say it wasn’t fair how women could use childbirth/pregnancy as a trump card. WHY THE HELL NOT? We are literally sacrificing our bodies, health, and careers for who knows how many years. All that for 50/50? Nope.

Maybe some anxiety in the very beginning of a relationship, but a confident and emotionally intelligent woman should recognize that she does not need to be anxious about a person who may not even be a part of her life. If somebody is feeling anxious in a relationship, maybe they shouldn’t be in a relationship at all. If your significant other consistently makes you anxious, they’re not the right person for you.

Stop that shit. He did not deserve you as a girlfriend or as a wife. He does not deserve you as a friend, texting buddy, and anything less. A daily reminder to myself for the last two months. It’s been HARD to cut off someone I’ve known for literally half my life, but I know I owe it to myself to do so.

Congratulations on your new life, you’re going to look and feel amazing now that you’re dropping that dead weight! It may be helpful to keep a list of your soon-to-be ex’s negative traits for future reference. Sometimes I’ll miss my ex which leads to missing the relationship. Having that list points me back to reality, because it reminds me of all the reasons I had to leave. Sending you healing energy, you deserve peace.

This post is exactly why we never stop vetting, especially when a woman becomes a SAHM and sacrifices everything. There’s so much subconscious victim blaming in her post, and she still believes things they can “talk things out.” It breaks my heart that this young woman has resigned herself to this life, and is willing to accept this abuse.

My LVM ex rarely bought me flowers, because he considered them a waste of money. On the very rare occasion I received flowers from him, they were always roses even after I told him I disliked roses and told him exactly what kind of flowers I wanted. His response? HE likes roses. Here’s to getting myself flowers whenever I want, because I deserve them. Edit: Scrotes get so mad seeing our posts they lose all self control and make fake accounts to try and harass us. My LVM ex rarely bought me flowers, because he considered them a waste of money. On the very rare occasion I received flowers from him (maybe four times in 11 years), they were always roses even after I told him I disliked roses and told him exactly what kind of flowers I wanted. His response? HE likes roses. When we’d pass by flowers in stores, he would tell me I could get them myself if I really wanted them. You are not alone, I have done this with people I barely even knew and it does feel heart crushing when reality sets in. Don’t beat yourself up. My take is that while love is an important component of relationships, love is not enough if the relationship lacks respect, emotional intelligence, or any other requirements someone has for a healthy relationship. Just because you love someone doesn’t mean you should overlook a red flag. “If he wanted to, he would” = don’t accept or create excuses for why this person is not acting the way you want. There’s nothing you can do to make someone change, and it is not your job to convince them that y…

I got chills reading this, this would have been my future if I had stayed with my ex. He was very adamant about wanting someone to take care of him/the household/future children, but also complained about how I didn’t make as much money as him. Oh but he never planned on marrying me, I was supposed to be grateful to stay a forever girlfriend.

Girl, you are goals! Please don’t believe that part of yourself that thinks you don’t deserve someone good. You are more than worthy of love, but more importantly love yourself first. Maybe take note of when you get this feeling, is it triggered by certain situations? I think it would be helpful to acknowledge your feelings, but also remember that feelings aren’t facts.

In middle school, I used to be sad that no one liked me enough to date me. Looking back, I’m so glad that guys were not interested because I definitely would have been taken advantage of. Wish someone had sat me down and explained FDS to my high school/college self, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache and wasted energy. My ex and I met in high school, so we definitely struggled for many years together before establishing our careers. Funnily enough, he didn’t start complaining about “it’s only fair if it’s 50/50” until he started making 2.5 times my salary. He was suddenly too good for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ If he’s not willing to take care of me, why do I need him to complicate my life? Better just to level up and take of my damn self.

Yes! 90 days fiancé is my guilty pleasure, but Big Ed needs to go. Where does he get this confidence? I hate how he also says “I’m just kidding” after he says something that HE KNOWS is pushing a boundary, and the recipient lets him know that it’s inappropriate.

So your partner doesn’t care about you or the relationship, instead of leaving you should instead let him use your body to convince him to put in minimal effort towards “uNdErStAnDiNg YoU.” The worst part is how many women I can see believing this crap, pre-FDS me included.
