As I said, that’s your right. I feel that this exchange has stopped bearing useful fruit, so I’ll be moving on. I hope you have a lovely day, and thanks for your input.

I thought edited history was available, or at least used to be. You might be able to find an archived version somewhere if you wish to continue trying to verify. Prior to your last comment, I was totally unaware of any reliable evidence that male sexual victimisation occurs at the hands of women at the same rate the other way around. I will definitely be looking into that before continuing to claim otherwise. If I’m wrong, I’ll be just as vocal about it and vocal about what led me to the incorre…

Thank you for your well thought out response. I definitely did not edit my comment in the way you accuse me of, but I do frequently edit my comments on rereading to better articulate myself or add clarifying details, so that’s likely what happened there. I’m aware that being asked to defend victimisation when it’s frequently undermined can be frustrating, so no worries on the misreads and thanks for taking the time to reply. In response to your perception of the linked comment: ignoring the hype…

Oh I’m not saying those rules mean we live in a patriarchy. I’m just interpreting what those people mean when they use the word. My interpretation is that what they mean by the word ‘patriarchy’ is a system where men hold, are assumed to hold, or are expected to hold, a greater portion of political, societal and financial power and responsibility than women. My question is, regardless of what word they call that system, wouldn’t most men here regard such a system (and specifically the expectatio…

I said I’m NOT very aware? That’s why I’m asking, to try and educate myself so I can better articulate and advocate for men in areas where they’re victimised? The ones I’m aware of are: unacceptably differing legal definitions of rape for men and women, social perception of men as always being the sexual aggressors and therefore unlikely to be the ones subjected to sexual violence, differing perceptions of age gaps/grooming in male/female predators, social perceptions of sex being degrading to w…

As far as I know, women don’t make up the majority of blue collar work? That’s what I’m saying, they should be able to if they want to, just like men should be able to do caring jobs or domestic labour if they want to. Yes, I’m aware of conscription and circumcision; I’m saying I don’t think they should be enforced at all. If women receive more in welfare, I’d query why? Like if women are more likely to be single parents, or more likely to experience poverty, or if men are less likely to seek as…

You joke, but that sounds pretty good. If women want to go into blue collar work, they should be able to. If men want to go into stereotypically women’s jobs, they should be able to. And likewise, men should not be seen as meat shields or cannon fodder, and women should not be seen as incubators or sex objects. Everyone should be valued and respected for their own selves and not what their bodies can be used for.

On the contrary. I’m invested in sexual safety for all people. But I’m not very aware of the men who feel sexually victimised and what causes them to feel that way, as theres a lot of conflicting attitudes to it (even from men themselves). I’m not sure what comments I’ve made that made you think otherwise, as I am very much for gender equality, but I apologise for any confusion.

What protective sexual rules do males advocate for?

Honestly we could just stop trying to appoint blame to people based on biology and point our rage at the people actually fucking society up?

If we assume the people saying ‘patriarchy’ mean ‘a system where men hold the greater portion of political, societal and financial power, and the gender norms that help uphold that system’, don’t a lot of men here rail against that? Things like being solely expected to earn enough to support a family, being discouraged from being emotionally open or vulnerable, their happiness being minimised compared to what they can provide, being expected to be the ones to initiate in relationships, being exp…

Indeed. Also white men. But the majority of women as a whole, he didn’t, and the majority of men he did. So if we’re talking purely on a gender basis, the gender who most ‘let’ him get away with things, were men.

If women ‘let’ them, do men not also ‘let’ them though? For example, most women voted against Trump, but most men didn’t? Not trying to cherry pick that’s just the first example that came to mind

But if your issue is that you disagree with one gender being more represented than the other, surely if you’re being logically consistent, you want to boycott all studios that do that?
/r/MensRights09/07/26 03:31 PM

With all due respect, do you also then think that we should boycott studios that overrepresent men?

Great comment. Throughout history those in power have been terrified of the power of the masses. Now with screens and algorithms, those malicious actors are able to tailor their fearmongering and hate to each individual user on a mass scale. For every moment people are thinking about how they hate each other, they’re not thinking about those in power who are actually the ones oppressing them. We have more in common with each other, with bugs in the grass even, than we do with corporations, gover…

‘gender equality should also address problems that disproportionately affect men, especially where law or public policy may treat the sexes differently’ Absolutely! Where women have better rights, mens’ should be improved to match. Where men have better rights, womens’ should be improved to match. Instead of dragging each other down, it’s lovely when we help each other up. No war but class war, etc!

The traditional communities that sent men to mines and battlefields? Personally I want more for men than that. I’m concerned with men who are alive now, and how to help them thrive, before hypothetical future men. You are welcome to feel differently.

I’m here for mens rights, and am not a natalist, so I don’t really care about that.
/r/MensRights04/07/26 05:53 PM

Why? If people of any gender want to ignore traditional roles, they can. I wouldn’t want to nudge men back to coal mines or battlefields either, but if they want to do those things, they have the option to.

If that’s the case, surely there’s no reason to have a problem with anyone making this choice now.

That would track, if the western one is less bigoted and the sub also moderates against bigotry.

Ah gotcha, so is it the original 4b movement that’s bigoted or the western one? Which one is the Reddit sub?

Again-I'm talking about women making *personal choice* in their *personal lives*. I don't really get why you're equating that to men's societal contribution? Unless you're explicitly saying that men explicitly exchange societal contribution for women's personal attention? Which 1) isn't really an actual possibility, you can't buy or negotiate sexual desire in that way, desire is individual, not societal, and it never has been 2) is exactly the kind of unhealthy centering of female attention that…

I think that’s a very limited scope of what men are capable of. They’re also capable of kindness, solidarity, humour, love, empathy, guidance, community. Additionally, women are *also* capable of labour, competition, protection, and resources. (As we’re discussing in the context of 4b, which is as I understand it about personal choices rather than societal reform, that’s what I’m also talking about.) Participation, benefit, and contribution on a societal level, is a different sphere from persona…

Damn I typed out a whole ass reply and it disappeared. Gonna try and redo it but it’ll be quicker. No, I don’t think men and women are different species, not only is it factually untrue but I never said it. No, I don’t agree that ‘excluding from society’ is what ‘decentering’ is. I interpret it more as personal choices such as not dressing solely to appeal to the opposite sex, not planning life trajectory around finding a romantic partner, taking jobs for personal interest and financial goals ra…

I don’t feel that the human race is two different species at all? Not only is that factually untrue, but also, I never said it. No, I do not believe that ‘exclude people from society’ is an accurate representation of decentering. I interpret it as simply not making that group or its members a focal point in one’s goals or motivations in personal life choices. Others may disagree of course, but that’s how I interpret it. So for example, pursuing hobbies not to meet partners but to meet platonic f…

So, I’m open to the idea that they’re problematic, but I did disagree with a few of your points: -re: ‘make that decision quietly’, I don’t think there’s a need for people to be ‘quiet’ about choices that they feel improve their lives, it’s generally good to share positive experiences (assuming they’re not being forced on anyone else ofc like legally or using shame/exclusion etc), likewise if men were posting about disengaging with dating because the pursuit of female attention was damaging thei…

Oh damn, I didn’t know they were bigots. On their sub rules it says that racism and homophobia is banned and such posts will be removed (doesn’t mention transphobia though). Do they not enforce that? Or do the sub members behave differently to offline 4bers?

Forgive me if I’m ignorant, but isn’t 4b just women not dating, marrying, having sex or having kids, eg making personal decisions about their own lives that everyone has the right to do? If so, why shouldn’t that be defended?
/r/MensRights02/07/26 09:08 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
