So you felt you were getting bashed for being a man over this? The Barbie movie is pure feminist propaganda that wants to convey a deep message about women and the patriarchy. If a character said “this is why I hate younger women.” should woman get offended? I don’t think that second line of dialogue is in the script.

The line from Maya is actually “Ugh! This is why I can't stand younger men.” Not sure about the second line.

Agree to disagree. I’m not in the camp that has a problem with the way anime depicts women either. I will have to rewatch Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 but I don’t think I’ll see what you see in it.

Personally I wouldn’t deem an entire work sexist against men unless men only exist to be denigrated for the sake of female empowerment. All the characters in Eva are flawed.

No I can’t think of a specific example. I generally don’t have a problem with the way men are depicted in anime. Anti male is The Barbie Movie and Captain Marvel not Gurren Lagann.

That’s still not anti male or against masculinity. You can criticize tired tropes or gender stereotypes but Simon and Kamina are not demonized for simply being men.

Can you give a specific example? I’m not saying is right but double standards will always exist to some degree because men and women are different. What people are really asking for is mutual respect.

I think this take is very reductive and hyperbolic. You could also say many shows are just male power fantasies where women only exist as sex objects. No one would describe Gurren Lagann as anti male.

This happens to men in the real world, does it not? Like Code-V said I don’t have a problem with it depicted in anime because it’s far more even handed than most western media. Feminist constantly complain about female characters who aren’t given enough agency or that are sexualized even in shonen.
