The olympics comes to mind here, with the way the female presenters treat that Tongan flag bearer. I doubt a man could get away with doing that to a woman in a bikini.

Yeah exactly. What I also find disturbing is that even certain forms of physical abuse such as slapping are seen as normal. How many tv shows and movies have you seen were a woman slaps a man in the face because she is upset with him? People always treat it as no big deal, but if a man were to slap a woman in the face in a tv show, he is immediately portrayed as a jerk and is always portrayed as apologising in the end. While this is nice, it would be even better if this applied to women as well.

Yeah I agree. The shocking thing about this male disposability is that its not just limited to movies, but it is also prevalent in real life too. Many men are pressured and conditioned to sacrifice their lives for women and children, which I find sad. Men also deserve to live too.

Yeah I totally agree. Another TV show that I think was irritating in this regard is the show Everybody Loves Raymond. I remember seeing several episodes in that TV show and I was shocked at just how physically abusive Debra was to Ray. Tv tropes summarises it fairly well here: Everybody Loves Raymond is the modern Trope Codifier, with Debra attacking Ray played for humor.
