Absolutely in the same position. After nearly 20 years of waking up each day with the aim of giving my wife and family the best life I possible can, my wife said it wasn't good enough and walked. I have thrown myself head first into my other passions (music for me). I now go out to relevant events multiple nights a week, I've just last night got back from a solo trip abroad in pursuit of my passion - at 54 years old I have never done that. My purpose is to be a better musician. I am winding down…

Just wanted to say this is a brilliant and inspiring reply. Much of what the OP writes applies to my situation too (it seems like there's some really common patterns) and I felt every word of the reply too. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

We're starting mediation shortly, but she has said she wants to agree 50/50 and won't pursue child support. All her talk so far suggests she's going to be reasonable (she wants me to stay in the family home and wants to make sure that's financially viable). We may have different ideas of "reasonable" of course.
