A law professor at the University of South Carolina, Marcia Zug, wrote a convincing paper on how mail-order brides were a net benefit to everyone (feminists included): https://scholarship.law.wm.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1397&context=wmjowl She admitted before doing her research that she anticipated the practice to be harmful to women and western ideals, but the results ultimately showed differently. Traveling and dating abroad is a bit different from mail-order marriage, but a lot of the …

Appreciated. People with shitty pasts are probably much more likely to end up in this situation, but I think it can still happen to anyone

There are whole threads on Reddit of people admitting to this. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskWomen/comments/awf6xu/women_who_datedmarried_a_man_you_settled_for_why/ I mean, even without evidence, do you really think this sort of thing has never happened in the West?

The all or nothing mentality of love fades very quickly when someone come face to face with the idea of ending up alone forever, especially if they've never been alone.

Cohabitation is on the rise though. I don't think the desire to be in relationships have changed that much, just a lot of people, especially lower income ones, not seeing the justification on spending so much on a ring/license/ceremony for something that can easily be nullified in a month or two. Just moving in is so much easier.

Honestly I think a lot if not most of these rap / hip hop artists perpetuating this kind of disturbing music are just putting on an act to sell records. Half of them never even lived near a bad neighborhood.

Men in woman's clothes make a fuss. Woman in man's clothes is just wearing clothes. Since male is seen as default, then wearing female clothes is adding on — adding makeup, jewelry, stockings, heels. It's always decorative, while male is stripped of all decorations. The court case is not even close. There is no push for men to wear man's clothes because it's the default. Similarly, you could say someone was fired because they wore punk clothes. That would be the same as this case with a guy wear…

Well, clearly men wearing dresses are going to be discriminated against. But that's not my point. Well you said that men have never faced something similar to the Ann Hopkins Case, and this case is literally the closest thing to the male version of discrimination happening. I was just providing evidence against that claim. The bar for men is to dress up in a suit, that's it. The bar for women is much much higher. I mean, you talk as though a suit is no big deal, something you can slap together i…

little to none social influence. But how can you say these careers have little to no social influence when they are social service type careers. Maybe "social influence" isn't the right word here because IT and engineering are very low socially influence careers. Doctors though, yes.

Most people become less shallow as they age. But I don't think the importance of looks (in relation to sexual attraction) changes much.

Men are all literally same — regular guys wearing suits. There is really not much pressure. Lot’s of studies show taller and more masculine men earn more and are more likely to have successful careers. Sorry but trans and gay men are a totally different issue. They are clearly discriminated against, and I'd say more than white women. Especially transgender people are most discriminated today. However, they don't fit the category I was talking about. Oh please please look more into the paper I …

Looks help men, but they aren't as necessary. problem is that women must look good to be respected throughout their entire lives, not just in dating. Good but not "too good". Men don't need that. Sure it helps in dating, and sometimes at work, but it's not as necessary and there is certainly no social pressure. It sounds like what you are trying to say is that looks are just a tiny cherry bonus for men while a woman who is conventionally unattractive has zero chance of making it in the world… I’…

I am half agreeing with you. Looks do still matter for men, you absolutely can’t get by with only charisma and talent. It’s just that for women, beauty matter a little more.

I don't think anyone would disagree that men have LESS pressure to look attractive than women, but there is still a minimum threshold. Someone like Danny DeVito, or Matt Lucas is never going to be swooning over a majority of women no matter how charming or talented they are. I’d also argue that there is less pressure because there is the expectation of men to compensate with charm and charisma or money. The pressure to be attractive is still there, it’s just not 100% looks.

I think the notion of blame relates a lot to whether the culture is predominantly individualist or collectivist. Individualist cultures give everyone agency, and so the blame is entirely on the individual's shoulder. Basically no-one owes you anything because you don't owe anyone else anything. Collectivists cultures are the opposite. Because everyone is bound by strict rules and responsibilities, it is society who shoulder's the blame for everything. Either for not enforcing the rules correctly…

What I'm considering is that this notable difference in physical strength actually creates a mental difference due to a constant layer of stress. While men are more tribal, women are more herd-like in their decision making, heavily policing, shaming, and ostracizing any dissent. Assuming you were right, which I don't think you are, why would you consider this difference in mentality a weakness? Should any deviation from the male way of thinking automatically be considered a weakness?

That's interesting. They probably presented it that way because they thought it would be best for you. Can't argue this is right or wrong since there isn't a lot of research out there concerning the welfare of polyamory kids. I personally think it could work just as good or even better as long as both parents are amicable with each other. My only concern would be if too many partners are moving in and out of the children's lives.

My parents hid it from us kids until we were adults. I know this is a hindsight question, but do you think the appearance of a monogamous relationship is necessary? I.e. do you think you would have felt differently if you had grown up watching your parents with other people?

Conventional masculinity defines that men are in the dominant position within the relationship. I think the more masculine a guy is, the less likely he will be open to submissive type sexual roles. For any other type of sex role, his chance of being open to it would be the same as any other man. That being said, it is noteworthy to mention that many people have a completely different role preference sexually than they do in real life. A lot women have very dominant personalities in the workplace…

This works out if there is a stable reproduction rate with a stable economic production rate by the next generation. If that's not happening, you may end up burdening the next generation with more and more taxes until it's more than they can handle and the system collapses.

Perhaps in his culture it is acceptable or even customary to show affection to random strangers by passing them notes and buying them gifts.. in America that's seen as creepy. The major downside of feminist societies is decreased fertility. they don't tend to grow organically, but rather maintain a replacement rate of reproduction. I think a lot of feminist countries are well below replacement rate. This probably has to do more with economic wealth than anything. People with wealth tend to see children as a burden rather than an investment. At the same time, women in feminist countries tend to work less and choose jobs that traditionally pay less, ultimately leading t…

2 means 80% of women are attracted to about 20% of men they meet, but those men vary between women (more men than only the "top 20%" have women attracted to them). This makes sense.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/17 04:26 PM

In my mind, if women (collectively) are attracted to 20% of the male population then those 20% of men can be regarded as "the same" top 20% of men regardless if every women was attracted to each one or not. If you consider each women individually having this 20% preference (but not necessarily the same one), I can see where OP is coming from.

No, unless it was done intentionally to hurt the other I wouldn't necessarily consider it abuse. Needless to say though, cheating, or any other vow breaking actions usually put the marriage in an unrecoverable state. If all the trust is gone and there is only spite and resentment left to foster, the family might be better off in a split.

The way I see it, in a marriage you give up looking after you own needs and feelings in favor up the needs of your family. Imagine if a guy's partner were to lose a limb, or get cancer, and he decides "Well, this is no fun anymore, time to bail", he would be severely stigmatized by society. I really don't see how this is different from bailing out because you're feelings have changed. If you found the perfect girl who you knew was super into you and shared almost all the same philosophies as you, but the only thing was she had a high N-count, would you pass that up for someone who had a similar N-count but didn't really click well with you? Personally, I would find #3 the easiest to get over, but obviously everyone is different. If you regret the past that much it probably wouldn't be easy to have a reminder staring you in the face every day.

lly, ask a vague question, get vague answers. As Atlas pointed out, the type of personality a particular woman is attracted to depends heavily on her own personality. Scientists very often gather useful information by asking vague question in surveys like "What sort of TV shows do you like?". Vague answers are still answers. As Atlas also pointed out: the vast hump of women are xSFx though, so that helps I would consider that useful information.

Women are not wired to care about their own partner count. Why do people think preference for low N-count is a male only thing? There a lot of women, some on this board, that express a clear preference for low N-count men. The reasons are clear and have little to do with paternity. Difference in sexual philosophy. People who have and want a low n-count person view sex as something very personal and intimate and believe high n-count people are less capable of seeing it that way. Insecurity. Fear …

Nah I'm going to have to agree with /u/80_20 here. There seems to be a big disconnect in what men find attractive and what women see as attractive on themselves. I think most women look fine not being dolled up. Like in this article. I would say 18 of those women look better without, 5 look about the same, and 4 look better with. And this is supposed to be some of the best transformations. There isn't much criticism from men when it comes to female looks, usually because it's met with a lot of h…

Most the negative appraisals you see on the web are merely part of internet culture. People tend to say more extreme things here because they are anonymous (or at least they think they are). Men actually do negatively appraise women all the time. It is done only in the company of close friends, and usually when a women is not present. It's not extreme at all to potentially lose one's job. It happens all the time, even to decent employees (layoffs). The extreme I'm referring to is "not being able to keep a roof over their heads" (Incel). I'd argue that overall, the rate at which employers have layoffs is very close if not equal to the rate at which employees leave for a new job, or just quit. If it came out that Chad was secretly a virgin, it'd ruin him. If it came out that Stacy was a virgin, desirable men who didn't look at her before would now come running. Chad is not at all going to be ruined by his exposed virginity unless he acts like a stereotypical virgin (at which point you might argue he is not really a Chad). Stacy probably would gain some ground from an exposed virginity, but it probably isn't going to change her predicament by very much.

You have to consider the fact that men are known to inflate their numbers while women deflate theirs. This study is a pretty clear example of that. Also, most studies don't consider the level of attractiveness of each partner between the encounters. I agree that N-count without context holds less value, but you'd be hard pressed to tell me that a woman who has been with 1 guy has a similar probability of being unstable as a woman whose been with 100. There's no thermometer you can use to directly measure how selfish, manipulative, or emotional unstable someone is, you have to use the clues that surround them. Previous relationships / sexual encounters is one of them.

How do we describe a gender identity in the same way? It's the gender that produces the most positive feelings when you encounter it? No, that sounds more like sexual/romantic orientation. It's the gender that produces the most positive feelings when you think about being it? That sounds better, but again it's hard to distinguish "I wish I was the other gender" and "inside, I really am the other gender". Whether you are something or just wishing to be something is a matter of perspective. It's l…

I think women are more likely to be ambivalent about a man's low n-count because it's not a very reliable predictor of sexual compatibility for men. A high n-count obviously speaks for itself, but a low doesn't necessarily mean the guy has conservative sex values. Since men typically chase women, a low n-count man could just indicate hes not as aggressive or ambitious as his peers.

Sure if she keeps at it, it's possible, sure. Technically if a 2 guy keeps trying, he might get pity sex from a 10 female. His chances are probably similar to winning the lottery, but the chance is still there. The rule is dealing with averages though, and it implies that the average guy (5), or even the above average guy (6-7) is not going to do better that a 2 most of the time. Those numbers are way off.

I think the type of "Crazy" guys are more concerned about is the emotionally unstable, manipulative, unpredictable type crazy that manifests as a result of too many unstable relationships / ONS. Most people probably aren't too thrilled with the ADD type crazy either, but I doubt it has any correlation to n-count.

The 80/20 rules is terribly over exaggerated. You'd have to ask yourself why an 8 guy would even consider 2 if he could get a 4 or 5 with little to no effort. Men have standards too.

So goes the old saying, women marry hoping their man changes and men marry hoping their women stays the same, and the opposite happens. In a perfect world women world always stay young and attractive and men will always be new and exciting. But we don't live in a perfect world so we learn to compromise. If your husband is a decent guy then he'll learn over time to be more attracted your personality and your experiences together more so than physical beauty.

I disagree. Women could use common law to their advantage and put off sex until cohabitation. This would be no different then women holding out, or requiring commitment before sex. Men are not going to fall for it unless all or most women do it. The impulse to play with shiny things is no where near as strong as the instinct to find the best mate to reproduce with. Total false equivalency. The strength of the impulse is irrelevant. The point is, if you are going to look for "the best mate" to re…

Yes I agree with 90% of what you're saying, female sexuality (on average) is definitely more fluid than male sexuality, and changes over time. I disagree that by simply understanding this resolves the majority of the problems in the RP worldview. None of these points are going to change how RP feels about being left out during youth, or being second choice for marriage, or being unexpectedly divorced. If male sexuality is more constant, then they are going to be unhappy when things don't stay th…

If they have a natural tendency toward submission, then they're already unappealing. No loss there. That's a pretty baseless statement. Why do you think r/theredpill or r/seduction or the whole PUA cummunity exists? How would this hurt them? It would simply incentivize marriage and cohabitation. They're already very unlikely to pursue relationships. What is there to lose? Exactly, if the point is to try and incentivize them toward relationships > cohabitation > marriage, then common law marriage…

More player shaming, more romantic themed media aimed at men This is more likely to make non "alpha" men more submissive and unappealing, further increasing the gap in the SMP. more common law marriages Not sure at all how this could help. It would likely make "alphas" far less likely to pursue relationships. more tax breaks for married people, as well as the addition of a bachelor tax This could hurt them, but is more likely to hurt regular men (and women) more since they are the ones strugglin…

I don't agree with many ideas that circulate within TRP or "the manosphere" either, but I'm still glad they exists because it offers a counterpoint to (radical) feminism, and a place for men to voice out their concerns in a world where mass media and government are reluctant to hear them. There are plenty of philosophies, viewpoints, religions, etc. out there that offer a narrow perspective of the world. It's the job of the reader to contextualize them properly and rationalize it based on his/he…

Is that a legitimate fear to have about men who have many partners? If it's not, why should it be for women? Women are more likely to be concerned that their SO's high partner makes them just another number, a sex object, and not something intimate and special. This is probably related to your concern of sexual ethics. Again, this isn't always the case. Plenty of men with a high partner count are looking to treat their next partner as "the one", but that doesn't invalidate the fear.

The insecurities boil down to one fear. Her past involves more alluring partners and now she's either burned out or settling for him only to get his financial/emotional support. Obviously this isn't always true, but it's not an unreasonable insecurity to have.

Imagine you are shopping to finance a car. When you are too picky you tell yourself that you won't settle for anything less than a Lamborghini. No dealer is willing to sell you one though. The best they can offer you is a Corvette. You decide to hold out and wait for the dealer who will offer you a Lamborghini. As time goes on, life gets rough, your credit gets worse and you tell yourself, Ok, the Corvette isn't too bad, I'll go for that. But now the best the dealers are willing to give you is a…

Even then, you can't separate the two so easily. His ability to support her is part of her sexual attraction to him. Women go crazy for the rich and famous, not because all these men are good looking, but because the promise of status, security, and wealth that he offers makes him sexually more attractive to her. They really aren't thinking, 'I want to use this guy for his money'. They just think he seems super hot, and perhaps they aren't even sure why. Certainly, there are women that genuinely…

Whether someone squarely fits into it isn't the point it's like "Chad" they're just archetypes. These are phenomena found in our social relations & culture that're applied under understanding why things work the way they do. This is pretty much what I said. They are used for conveying the ideas of RP Philosophy i.e. are archetypes applied to help people understand why things work the way they do. The actual categories that individuals fit in are usually far more complicated(Sigma's, Higher-Beta'…

I agree the, alpha/beta dichotomy isn't very useful for describing real men, there is simply too much grey area between the two categories. However, I think they exist though to more easily convey the ideas behind RP philosophy. Rather than saying the more desirable a man is the more likely he is to be used for sex and the less desirable a man is the more likely he will be used for only money/support, RP just say "alpha fux, beta bux". It's more or less marketing.

The same could be said for femininity. Wearing makeup, shaving legs, avoiding playing certain sports, avoiding weights at the gym, you could also argue that these are a very narrow set of behaviors that women conform to in order to be a "lady". Whether it is fragile or not is kind of irrelevant. Femininity and Masculinity both exist primarily to appeal to the opposite sex.

What would complicate this IRL is that you have to account for the fictional children's rights in all of it. It wouldn't be the potential complexity of this plan which would prevent it from materializing, it would be the fact that there is a third party here--children. I think there are still complications in the planning aspect. For example, if the contract is only valid for 6 months, does that mean after 6 months the man is on the hook for any biological children born after 6 months, or only t…

Things tend to be balanced when you look at the big picture. People just like to have a narrow view of things. If women have a harder time achieving orgasm, a lower average sex drive, a risk of pregnancy, a shorter biological clock, a higher risk for STIs as well as long term complications from them... well then of course they are going to be picky with who they sleep with.. It's not fair or unfair, but it is balanced.

Regardless, why would it be anymore complicated than any other area of contract law? We contract about all sorts of shit. We just add a few other entries to the UCC. Not saying it is not doable. I don't see it being much different from a pre-nup. Like a pre-nup, it isn't exactly something you would pull out while things are getting heavy, sign real quick, then jump right back into it. It would require days, maybe weeks for lawyers to draft up the terms, consider if and when it is void, and witne…

I never said they were. I'm just clarifying that sexual fulfillment and validation are not the same, and that you can get one without the other.

How is this not fair? Rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. If you don't have the rights, you shouldn't have the responsibilities and vice versa.

Plenty of women set up profiles on hookup apps with no intention whatsoever of actually hooking up. Are they not being validated when they get tons of messages from attractive guys? You don't need to have sex to feel validated, it's all about knowing the opportunity is there.

Validation works the same for men and women. It's less about sex, and more about being sexually desired by sexually desirable people. The only difference is that most women have a higher standard than men.

A waiver before sex would never work. It would be a fairly complicated law to legislate and would end up being a waist of time because no one would use it. IMO, everyone should be required to acquire some sort of waiver/parental license before having a child, or before having sex. This should be an either be an 'intent to conceive' with a specific partner, and is essentially treated like a surrogate contract, or a 'prepared to conceive' which would pretty much work like how things work today, bu…
