You are still responsible for your kids. If your kid does anything to cause someone else damage, the mother is responsible. The lawyers argument would not hold up in a damage claim of "She was just being a good mom" because she was "Being a good mom" to someone who was lying that she was responsible for the damages for lying.

Not true. This is a very simple case of slander. There was no proof, and in fact was proven false. Easily proven damages such as him losing his job AND for false imprisonment. Just because she's a single mother does not mean she is exempt from the court. The only way the courts find favor is in the case of father vs mother.
