Further to this point. Dehumanization of one group makes it easier to dehumanize others. You can't selectively suppress empathy and genuinely retain it. Instead it becomes more about your team and in group biases rather than caring about others.

Anecdotally, I disagree. I have a diagnosed one in the family. All of her social queues are learned according to her. A well socialized psychopath will have no issue with mimicry even idly so. This would probably only apply to non socialized or low functioning individuals. Girls will rapidly call each other out for being different. If other girls in their group move their heads when they're talking they probably will too. In our case she viewed all emotions and social interactions as fake. While…

IT is overwhelmingly male dominated. It is hard to get a job in it but every company has it. We used to be 70% - 30% when I started but so many women left the industry despite us trying to recruit anyone who'd join into it. Some numbers put non-Dev IT work at 10:1 male to female.

This story hits too close to home, even though I am younger. Even down to the psychopathic mother and breaking mentally. I've had some positives as of late but I'm still as damaged as can be from this toxic culture and parent I was raised by. You are not the only one to have suffered like this. While that may not bring solace maybe it will be worth something.

You must learn to play a character. To wear a mask, a persona that is not you. That projection isn’t held by the same chains. Merely a body to inhabit, a perspective in which to explore the world. Your fears are not theirs. Nor is your past in its entirety, somewhat similar but divergent. To be only shown to those who do not know you. They need to be distinct but only to you. For me he is calm, unburdened, a man of few words. Eventually that mask granted confidence.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
