Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedWhat would be a non strange definition? And again I said it isn't a set in stone scientific formula. It's variable within society. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/09/24 07:53 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedThe ideal of perfection varies within cultures and communities. Success is a varied definition. Male babies are considered a success because they will carry the bloodline forward, female babies are considered failures because they will take the family wealth away. Babies exhibit limitless possibilities. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/09/24 03:56 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI always read it as synonymous with 'purity', hence the assumption of it being a spectrum. So I guess generally people use virginity and chastity interchangeably. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/09/24 03:51 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI guess now parents also have to worry about high speed drivers. Plus if you live in the US I've heard there are people who will call CPS for letting an unaccompanied child outside | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/09/24 03:48 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are Valuedjesus fucking christ i didn't say that's my definition of success. What I'm saying is people value people the closer they are to society's ideals of perfection. A childbride is a success in communities which value youth, orthodox religeous values and chastity. Pro-lifers think every aborted foetus would've cured some form of cancer. Society's view on success is a very subjective view. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 04:19 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are Valued'Successful' within socially ascribed parameters. Not necessarily always because of actions and achievements but also due to the accident of birth. A white upper middle class child going missing generally inspires more media frenzy than a black poor child gone missing. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 04:01 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedKids are blank slates and generally valued more than adults. Even then some children are more equal than others. Ethnicity, religion, race, economic status etc. are also things that effect public perception of children's lives. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 09:40 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedHaha no. Knew about it but since I don't see much of that discourse in discussions online. I wanted to know what people are thinking. English isnt my first language but i assumed Chastity is a spectrum like promiscuity? Or is it not? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 09:34 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedYes that's the context I was going for. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 09:29 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedBy academics I meant to point to college education. Men are pushed to get STEM/high earning degrees to earn more. Women aren't pushed into pursuing these time intensive degrees with similar intensity. Ambition in women isn't seen as a positive trait a lot of the times as they're expected to take over caregivers roles. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/09/24 09:24 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedWasn't necessarily a complaint just an observation. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 12:53 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI mean I refuse to be a victim too. But if someone murders me/beats me up/rapes me that's what i will be right? Will my friends and family be able to secure justice for me as a brown woman in a country that hates me then? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 12:41 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedYes but if you're a hated marginalized person doesn't that expose you to more violence? Sometimes simply because of the accident of your birth? And if you're a hated person (even though you're an honest hardworking person) isn't there a chance that police won't put in similar effort to find the people who wronged you than they would for a more privileged 'loved' person? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 12:24 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedAgreed. Ted Bundy has a crazy number of fangirls. But I meant to imply that generally society puts more pressure on men to be wealthy then to be pretty. Academic excellence is also valued in women but most feel more pressured to be pretty than smart. Will try finding some scientific articles | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 12:19 PM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedBrother what? I'm not ascribing value to victimhood. I'm just disturbed that poor/marginalised people's lives aren't valued. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 08:36 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI meant to talk about general social attitudes. Ofc people will grieve for their friends more. But when it comes to strangers their intelligence and beauty are framed as great losses. A good average man won't have armies searching after him if he goes missing. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 07:52 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedYes. That's what I was referring to. And well obviously TV only covers stories of those pretty women because people value their stories more than the stories of obese single moms. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:33 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedOfc, but my problem is that these views actively hurt victims. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:30 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedOfc. I only meant to point out the general social perception. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:29 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedAn ugly homeless woman is more valued more than a working class man? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:10 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI'm a woman too. And I say that with that in mind. Most extensively covered violent rapes are often of privileged women and 'perfect' victims. Poor women have to fight to make news. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:09 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedOfc academic excellence is valued in women too, but only upto a point. Men excelling in academics/work is more valued because they're expected to be the money making sex and the primary breadwinner. Women are traditionally pushed to be mothers and wives. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:06 AM
Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedI don't mean to compare to extremes. I'm just saying a brilliant student is grieved exponentially more than an above average student. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:03 AM
| -2 | Only "Successful" Lives are ValuedNot meaning to imply fat people don't deserve love or respect. Just meant to say people campaign more extensively to garner justice for pretty women, just because they're pretty. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/09/24 04:00 AM |
