Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thank you. That’s good to know! 🍻 | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/25 05:10 AM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thank you. He’s a teen so already angry which doesn’t help. We have a good relationship but it’s been challenged by these circumstances. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/25 05:10 AM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Hang in there, man. If this sh*t was easy, everyone would do it. 💪🏼🍻☠️ | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/25 05:09 AM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thank you. You are of course right in that I need to fully investigate this. What I really mean is that I would never go after the house and force her to sell. I see it hopefully as my son’s inheritance, and I frankly want no part of it. What I do need to have in my back pocket is a way to avoid endless payout at the expense of me being able to someday rebuild my life. I figure it might be able to be negotiated to 5 years if this is even a ‘chess piece’ I have at my disposal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/25 05:07 AM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️She did off and on, and currently has a job. I make like 6 times what she does though so I’m screwed there. Hoping to someday be able to start building a future for myself but lifetime alimony combined with child support and expensive rent, on top of the wasteland of our finances make that a pipe dream. Wish you best of luck with your situation. 💪🏼 | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:49 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Pretty sure she gets the home fully as she inherited it during the marriage. Either way I want nothing of the house. I just don’t want to be on the hook for a lifetime of indentured servitude. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:46 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️She’s working but it’s small potatoes. Always has been. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:45 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Appreciate this info. Thank you. 🙏🏼 | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:44 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️No, this has to be a full divorce. Been done for a while. There’s no going back now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:44 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thank you. I will look into this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:43 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Sadly too late as I left the house ~6 months ago. It was an unbearable situation. We were on talking terms but it’s a lot more strained as of late. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:43 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Appreciate that, but in CA I don’t think that’s the case, because it’s inherited property. Definitely seeking consultation. Thank you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:35 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️She has a job but it’s basically minimum wage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 06:14 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Not rage bait. California law since she inherited the house. Though I’m pre lawyer and mediation so we’ll see if this even buys me any leeway at all. The way things have been going lately I doubt it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 06:13 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Yeah, of course. First thing I did. 😄 Wow, that is brutal in re: to no modification, money or jail. I was the typical romantic fool following my heart, thought we’d be married forever. My eyes have been opened. I’m sure many will relate to this but I feel like a battery being sucked dry until I’m of no further use, then off to the landfill. Good luck, brother. Hang in there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 06:12 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Hope so. We’ll see. I’m willing to pay but not endlessly and need some hope at starting over and building a future life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 06:08 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thanks for this. There’s a lot of debt that will certainly be split 50/50. Since we live in California, and she inherited the house from her Mom, that apparently is off the table. Only real asset worth speaking of. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 05:58 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️Thank you. Genuinely appreciate that. Trying not to feel too bad about the way my life seems to be crumbling away around me. I know that SO many people have it much worse. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 05:00 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️The house is hers under Cali law. I never would have challenged it anyway. But I am definitely going to look into my rights and talk to a lawyer so that I at least know what my rights are in this specific situation. Appreciate the perspective. Lifetime alimony feels like a death sentence but I never would have walked away and left them holding the bag. It all feels like punishment for trying to be what my warped idea of a ‘good guy’ was. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 03:48 PM
Lifetime Alimony ☠️In California it’s her property because she inherited it from her Mom. Never mind that I supported us financially for years while she took care of her Mom. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 03:45 PM
