Agreed, in fact this is implied in my explanation. The gays you don't notice are more likely the ones that have more engagement with straight men and masculine activities. This could just be because of the way they were brought up or the nature of their hobbies, especially when they were younger. For example I know of 3 would-never-have-guessed it types that all play/played on a rugby team. You see a softer version of it in video gamers as well, but a strong gaydar can pick up on it. Step 1 is to actually go. Your goal is to make sure your gym attendance is high, you must not allow yourself to make excuses or slack off. Don't get caught up in the details about the diet and exercise, there is so much information out there (these posts alone prove it) it can be overwhelming and distracting leading you to lose motivation. A sub-optimal exercise routine and diet plan is better than none.
