I have been through the US leading cancer hospitals over the last years. Every single one has a beautiful woman’s cancer center. The jewel of their lobby usually, often private like airline clubs at the airport.

Because they would say you voluntary became unemployed, child support would remain and eventually when the arrears get large enough they will suspend your drivers license and even put you in prison. Yes prison.

It’s called imputed income, and yes the courts use it all time. They don’t give a shit about you or your time with your kid, they just want that C.S. flowing through
/r/MensRights23/01/20 04:39 AM

Ya best be careful, C.S. can continue under court order well past 18. And termination in support would require a court order updated. This process will require a full revaluation of both parties current incomes. Even if the 19 year old is removed the remaining obligation could be more than what ya pay now.

Illinois, 28% for two kiddos
/r/MensRights12/10/19 12:30 AM

Well, taxes at 34%, child support at 28%, mandatory insurance on kids and me 5%, child care of about 5%. Leaves you just over a quarter out of every dollar you make. Kinda hard to adequately care for the kids for 50% of the time (and me) with a household budget this out of whack. I sure wish someone would be required to give me 28% of their income tax free!

Sorry, but I gotta update my comment here. my gut reaction is that you are part of the problem here. You are confrontational. Granted, I have no details other than what provided by you but from someone that has been in your shoes, you must keep the dialogue to facts that are necessary to the child’s wellbeing in these high conflict divorce situations (meds taken/last dose). Anything else is pointless and just makes everyone look petty.

I am a man and I use the woman’s room all the time, partly as a small protest, but mainly cause they are usually much cleaner. Yeah I get dirty looks and comments, but just say “I love ya when your mad”

Why would there be 4 deductions in one pay period? Something is off here. I am by no means disagreeing with you but I fear this is an exaggerated example As a rule divorce men get to keep about a quarter of every dollar they make.

The state has a financial incentive to make sure all funds are paid through the system. Look up title 9/4 laws. In many states, the federal govt matches funds captured through the cs system for school lunch programs and similar programs. Hence the judges always pushing for the higher earning parent to go away and pay max support. Vicious cycle.

Get a GAL (attorney for the kids) it’s expensive but no one will look at your manic pile of evidence brought in on a pallet. You are too close to it and it makes you look petty, GAL solves all those problems Sorry bro, I have been there. Hang in there

The father is typically not afforded basic parental rights. They usually provide those rights on paper but do nothing to enforce them when violated. In my experience he is just a wallet, just pat him on the head and tell him to leave a check on his way out of the courtroom.

This is why you don't talk about politics, especially Men's Rights politics at work. While you are correct on this topic, you are the minority that is aware (or will admit), the chances of you convincing someone at work on you point of view is slim to none. So, the downsides are huge, the upside are non-existent

That is tough battle due to the Title IV program, the states will not be giving in easily. For instance I have very close to 50/50, more like 44/56 and still pay the full amount. So, because the kids are there for 13 more dinners each year, the court feels "justified" to follow the "guideline"
/r/MensRights20/12/16 09:28 PM

it is back support, the child is already 18 so there is no more parenting time. She just tagged on a nice little going away amount as a thank you for 18 years of support and "rent a dad"

all too common my friend, stories like this are a dime a dozen. See Title IV federal program or just follow the $. Until that program is disbanded, the courts will continue to just be seeking the maximum amount of wealth transfer between parties.

I don't think that paying each others attorneys fees is all that prevalent any longer, unless there is a major discrepancy in the incomes. The tactic is used to get the allegation of abuse on the "court record" without any evidence. This is one of the building blocks used to by the US Family Court judges to justify the removal of parental rights or 50/50 parenting from the accused (see:Father), usually a slightly higher wage earner, especially over the long term. The court has every interest, in…

The system is so fucked up that this is seen as a "win" for the man? Given me a break, the overall ownership attitude of the divorced mothers in this country is disgusting. They use the divorce system and kids to make the father life as difficult as possible (like taking the grandmothers name off the authorized school pick up list). All the while getting loads of child support funds that they use as they please. When will this scenario change?

25K * .72 (to account for his income minus a normal 28% tax rate) = 18K 18K - 2.5K for health insurance = 15.5K (his take home pay after tax and insurance) 15.5 *.28 = 4,340 (28% of his take home is about what each state takes for two kids) 4,340 / 12 = 361.66 per month That is all the courts will care about and will be very easy for you to get, plus half of any daycare or uncovered med. cost If he is not caring for the children 50% of the time (or close to it) the courts will follow this almost…

so, they make a system where the only "legal" process involves all of these nasty issues as status quo then complain when people go through with it? Change the rules, don't blame the people that are trying not be on downside of the completely one sided non-custodial parent position. Besides, 200K vs a lifetime of CS and alienation from child, may be not a bad investment.

The newborn will actually be good for you, in terms of getting some parenting time. It can show you are a capable parent and provide a good hook for establishment of a relationship with this child's half sibling. And yes, she can be awarded back child support to birth. It is in the courts best interest to funnel as much money as it can from your pocket to hers. Begin researching Title IV if you are interested in the foundation for the courts in this, but suffice it to say, the courts get a direc…

You have a terribly difficult uphill battle in front of you. Not only will you be facing 4+ years of back child support (in addition to whatever "gifts" you recently provided) but you will have little to no leverage to get "visitation" to see your child. Forget anything that surmounts to equal parenting time, especially since the easy answer for her is to say this child doesn't know you and it would be disturbing for him to process this now. I foresee an incredible financial burden with very lit…

He may actually have a fighting chance, but only since the mother is dead. However, it would certainly require getting the family court involved, which will shed light on the fact the child is not living with the legal guardian, which may lead to him being removed by the state from that environment and into foster care. Since you refer to them as a "random person" I am making an assumption that DCFS may not be too happy with that arrangement. Once he is in state custody, it will be easier to pet…

not usually, as the state's position on this is that if you don't pay support, they will need to support through low income housing vouchers, food stamps, other aid. If she were to ever claim/apply for any of those the state looks for a pocket/father to seek reimbursement. It is this situation the judges say they are trying to avoid by setting up adequate support from the start. In reality, the states are incentivized by the federal government by not only the establishment of min. child support …

Wow, this is indeed a RARE event. Not sure how this happened but congrats and never forget the blessing. Make sure to be the best parent ever, as there a millions of non-custodial dads that would give anything for your chance to parent full time.
