Every single woman I’ve talked to has stories about men violating their bodies, taking liberties that they don’t have consent for, to greater or lesser extent. From butt grabbing at the bar to uninvited hands jammed in panties to much more. Rape is a harsh word indeed, but I don’t think there’s doubt that we still need to have a societal conversation on consent. I once thought I “didn’t need to be told how to not rape” but after learning about it, I’m certain that a lot of people could need some…

How is this a men’s rights issue and not just you running into some rude idiots? It’s not like men in general are treated like this.

Always putting women on a pedestal. Women are humans who happen to have been discriminated against heavily in the past, so much so that many women still experience the after-shocks of that. Am I putting black people on a pedestal for acknowledging that they still suffer from lingering effects of slavery and Jim Crow laws? None of the women living right ever saw any of the things you are talking about. None of the black people today experienced literal slavery, but they're still affected by the l…

It is long ago though, like atleast a generation or two Wouldn't that depend on how deeply rooted the issue is? Surely you don't believe the grandchild of a person born under slavery should be expected to be 100% as successful as someone not born being considered sub-human? Women haven't had such a treatment exactly, my question is about how quickly a society can change. Do you agree some changes take far more than 1-2 generations? How long is a generation to you, btw?
/r/MensRights11/12/20 12:22 AM

Yes, society changes very fast..look at the last 15+ years or so Do you believe black people today aren't affected by the fact that Jim Crow laws only ended in 1965?
/r/MensRights10/12/20 10:37 PM

You really think society can change so fast that young girls and women born in the last couple decades have no risk of being affected by bigotry and stereotypes stemming from 50-60 years ago? That's not even mentioning the facts backing up my statements, of course. Just asking.

in the west women have all the same rights and opportunities as men if not more. We've come a long, long way indeed, but there's still a lingering effect. And it'd almost be surprising if there wasn't, it's not long ago that women were pretty strictly expected to only work in the home.
/r/MensRights10/12/20 06:52 PM

Sure, one could say that the patriarchy hurts both men and women - and even if you don't like the words used, it's still a society that lets men work and earn money, and therefore power, and made women dependent.

Well, it’s not a lie. There is a wage gap. And there are reasons why women choose professions that don’t pay quite as well, or even a risk that they might be paid slightly worse than men, because their professions may not be valued as much. The hard core lack of women in the workforce is still affecting the average today. Luckily women and girls are killing it in education, and were rapidly removing unnecessary gender-barriers in our culture, so they’ll probably catch up quick.

While a bit of a double standard, at least I, as a dude, am not even slightly afraid that those books are really ever going to affect me. Women are still feeling aftershocks of a society that strictly expected them to be house wives and baby makers, so there’s a lot more people who might read and act on material that promotes hatred against women.

Shit like this is said so bloody often now, When you scour the entire internet, you can find basically anything. No one actually says shit like this. There's no great tsunami of people aborting specifically male children (unlike during the one-child policy in China, which lead to a gigantic majority of male babies). You're getting angry over fabricated controversy. This isn't an issue in society, at all.

B-b-but now I can’t hate a woman :( How is OP’s post even an attempt at a pussy pass? Insurance fraud has no gender, and we don’t know how desperate they are or why they did it. Some people actually need money, and it’s not a question of just desiring infinite luxury or whatever.

Yup. It's sad but not overly surprising - obviously there'll be tension when feminists correctly point out that there are still roots of the patriarchy lingering (like women too often having to get their husband's permission to get their tubes tied, and a man usually doesn't need the wife's permission to get a vasectomy), while men's rights activists correctly point out that there are also some inequalities men face (Edit: like more suicides, earlier deaths, discrimination in family court (thoug…

You should see the doozies of women I see in real life. There are billions of people. You can become a human-hater if you let the shitty ones define the rest, man or woman or whatever other arbitrary distinction we want to make (sex isn't arbitrary, gender is).

There's no proof showing people are being rampantly falsely accused of rape. We can see that people accused of rape do not suffer the huge, drastic consequences people here believe. Sure, false accusations happen, as it does with literally any crime. I see no reason to believe it happens disproportionately with rape accusations against men. Can you provide that data? Lastly, try to ask close female friends if they've had experiences with sexual assault of any kind. I just talked to my friend, an…

I wish you wouldn't base your opinions of broad issues like rape on personal experienced or stories you've read about online. Divorce court is absolutely fucking vicious, and both men and women lie and cheat and steal and kill to make the ex look bad and get the kids. I wish I could take you through a relevant degree of some kind. You'd change your tune with a slowness, because study takes a long ass time.

I disagree, this shit is not exceedingly rare. Women lie in situations like this a non-trivial percent of the time. Simply put, if a woman "gets mad" at you, then they want to hurt you back. And they know they can hurt you and get their justice by making a rape allegation. There are no solid numbers for the number of false rape allegations. We can luckily see that the accused are not instantly exiled from society, as so many people claim and are scared of. It's simply not true - not for public p…

"numerous" means nothing. You could scrounge up 1000 cases of long haired people killing bald people with pencils or whatever. I won't be too critical of you. I myself was guilty of doing exactly what you're doing right now. The data and experts simply do not show that men generally have to worry about having their lives destroyed at the mere accusation of sexual misconduct or rape.

For every accusation I have seen, the effects from public justice has been life changing. Careful you're not basing your opinion on memes and individual cases that aren't representative. Again, we're billions of people. You could find individual stories to support any and all narratives. That's why we should rely on data and expert opinion when forming opinions about the world - as I failed to do, and probably in many ways still fail to do. I don't want to pretend to be perfect. Im not claiming 0 but its exponentially less Possibly, we have no way of knowing for sure. I think a whole lot of boys and girls don't really understand how to approach sex, partly due to abysmal sex ed, and thus end up in shitty situations where they might be pressured into doing stuff they don't really want to, and sometimes it crosses into undeniable rape. Also Im a firm believer in that people shouldnt make accusations unless they actually have proof. Not because I dont think they should wan…

Why would would you count it as a true rape allegation when it’s false? Because it’s not considered a false allegation, it’s considered a rape. Which means that false allegations might be more common than is thought. Which was my point. What the fuck are you talking about? No one wants false allegations counted as true allegations. Men are believed even less than women lmao. And they both get raped the same amount. I'm for taking all accusations of rape more seriously. I bet men's numbers are inflated due to prison rape, which would mean men are generally, at least in normal society, not at as great a risk. But it's not a competition. But you dont see anyone including men in metoo and you dont see men falsely accusing women of rape Are you claiming 0 men have ever falsely accused a woman of rape or some other crime? Perhap…

I'm sure some men also accuse women of rape, but are dismissed - by men and women alike - for any number of reasons. These would be helped too by increasing seriousness with accusations of sexual assault. Besides, there's a massive amount of misinformation and misunderstandings of basic arguments that lead to totally unnecessary conflicts, often with feminists.

If women are not believed it’s probably because of the fact it’s so easy to ruin someone’s life with no proof for them. They aren't believed because people believe them too easily? What? With rape there is no innocent until proven guilty. Even if you don’t catch a charge and it’s false your reputation will be ruined regardless of the outcome. I myself thought this once. It's just not true. People are not getting falsely accused and have their lives ruined by clearly false accusations in giant sw…

A close friend of mine is now labeled a sex offender for life because he and a girl hooked up at a party and she regretted it. They were both drunk Maybe your friend wasn't entirely honest with everything that happened that night. I don't know what happened. You don't either. If it was indeed a false accusation, it's awful. I find it funny that you speak of this as if its a rare occurrence If it wasn't, there'd be more than a small handful of stories. You have to actively seek this out. It if it was such a widespread problem, it would come to you. If I were a woman just point out who's life you want me to ruin, and I could do it Often claimed, not actually true at all. On the flip side, how many men are possibly in prison right now that are innocent of rape but the justice system failed them? 1 would be 1 too many, and I don't think it's a competition for oppression. You say false allegations are very rare but are you counting the ones where the guy was convicted even though he is innocent? So is rape Are you implying rapes and false rape accusations occur at roughly the same frequency? Far too often man are accused of rape when women regret a sexual encounter after the fact. I've seen zero proof of this happening. Not-guilty sentences are not proof. Far too often consensual sex after both parties have been drinking is called rape and despite both parties being drunk somehow the man is responsible. You'd go to jail because the first amendment doesn't allow you to do that. Ah. Well, again, I don't think anyone is against punishing outright fabricated accusations. However, there is the issue that punishing the accuser in a simple not-guilty case would deter many, many real accusations from being made. No one wants to have their traumatic experience dragged through the judicial system with the added insult of risking jail if your scooped out vagina didn't yield sufficient cum from your rapist…

What do you expect to happen if you did that, apart from scaring a bunch of people, making some noise, but ultimately with everyone ending up fine? Are you implying people would kill or otherwise harm the person you point to? And that a rape accusation is the same? It's very rare that rank false accusations ruin lives. Of course it happens - again, we're billions - but not often enough for anyone to worry about. You're not in any real danger of being falsely accused of rape. The point is simply …

I dont fucking care. If you lie about being raped, you should be sentenced to how many years the “rapist” would have been sentenced for if they were found guilty. Imagine how evil you must be to lie about something as serious as rape. I already said false rape accusations are bad. Do you think I disagree with your statement or something? Also, on the topic, it's extremely important that we remember that the whole "believe women" isn't about instantly throwing anyone in jail. It’s not an argument in the slightest. Then he points out that men are also suffering in some ways. I don’t think this is specifically a men’s rights issue at all. Women who are raped face lots of problems when reporting a rape. Stigma, distrust, invasive tests for gathering evidence, inaction from police, and traumatic legal steps where you have to explain and relive the traumatic event. These issues may be part of why it came out so late and why it’s basically impossible to try the accused. What evidence can even really be presented for justice to be met (edit: 2 years after the supposed fac…

An individual's satisfaction in a long term relationship goes down for every sexual partner they have had. I'd imagine that would be an issue. I don't feel the need to give you a lot of sources for saying: "A slap in the face does not (legally) justify putting someone's head through a window. That response is not automatically "on them"". That's my claim. Are you seriously so fucking far up your own ideological asshole that you're going to disagree with me on that, you drooling fucking idiot? Do you think a lot of judges or juries will consider that "self defense" in most situations? I fully acknowledge that a person can act in a way t…

Most people who call themselves feminists don't matter But that's what I'm saying: Feminists in general do not want to discriminate against men, regardless of what a few insane feminazis believe. The ones who matter, the ones with real power, are virulently anti-male. They must be opposed at every turn. What are they proposing that you believe will discriminate against men? I have yet to see a single solitary example. Everything that focuses on women is from fucking 50 years ago, which was unden…

Feminists with influence pushed for the tender years doctrine. You keep talking about "feminists with influence". Do you acknowledge that these are not the exact same as "feminists in general"? So do you now agree with me that feminists in general are not the insane bitches this sub portrays them a I literally fucking said that isn't what matters. Maybe if you understood the question it'd be easier to answer. Then stop supporting feminists in politics and academia who push for policies that do j…

My initial statement even indicated the ERA is sex neutral. I never once indicated anything differently. Not did I indicated I wouldn't support a sex neutral law. Then what's the problem? What would the law achieve that hasn't already been achieved? Sounds like it wants to make sure women have the right to abortion, and certainly not to make men 2nd class citizens. Regarding the government yes, the only objective way to determine sexism is by legal rights. Everything else is just subjective. So …

Yup, stats seem to bear that out. I restate my point: In general, feminists are in no way trying to discriminate against men. How can to say those two sentences? Can you read and comprehend basic text? I said: So? Again, HISTORICALLY this has probably been correct. That's how I interpret the duluth model: Accurate enough to explain domestic violence some, what, 50 years ago? But not today. Do you honestly think feminists today want male victims of domestic violence to not be recognized or receiv…

Domestic violence is mostly both partners beating each other. When it's only one direction, it's about split between men and women. Yup, stats seem to bear that out. There simply is no argument towards men being the only or most violent So? Again, historically this has probably been correct. Some patriarchal countries consider wife beating to be the norm. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if the same was the case some 50 years ago. That's what the model is about; not a modern view of the issue. I…

Duluth model pushed by feminism for decades is exactly that. I did look at it: The Duluth Model proposes that the principal cause of domestic violence is a social and cultural, patriarchal ideology that has allowed men to control women through power and violence. My emphasis. Is this really incorrect? Times are changing, but historically speaking this seems accurate. The model is from 1981.

What matters is what the majority of feminists with influence do. What is it that they actually do that you disagree with? Not some tumblrina suggesting we kill all men or whatever. I disagree. There is no actually talking to them because they filter out everything you say You have been in the echochamber for too long. Feminists, when you break through the bubble and get to talk to them, seem perfectly genuine in wanting gender equality. When you bring up topics where men are being discriminated against, they may say the focus should be on women, but they're not actively seeking discrimination. I don't believe gender equality should be achieved under the banner of feminism,…

You really need to ask? Yes, because feminists state "we live in a patriarchy!" with the same dismissive arrogance and just as few arguments. Don't forget to add the Hayden Rider attached to the ERA. It turns what would turn a sex neutral amendment into a women's only amendment. It establishes men as second class citizens Source? Who supports it? Is this an intended function of the amendment or an oversight? It's a sneaky and underhanded way to get abortion constitutional protects. This sounds like a rightwing misinterpretation of a constitutional amendment that would ensure women the right to abortion. If that's the goal, I don't thi…

And there's blatant sexism against men today. There's a bit here and there, I'd never deny that, but I think it's unreasonable to assume that the sum total of that is noticeably greater than the lingering sexism that women inevitably face. People who grew up when women "belonged in the kitchen" are still in power today. It'd be obtuse to assume these people have just magically adjusted to the times and have left any lingering kind of sexism behind. Just look at some members of the incelcommunity…

I agree that feminists are far too insular. I've struggled for a long, long time to wiggle their arguments out of them. However, we should acknowledge that there is still lingering sexism against women, even today. It keeps you content, and it ensures that radical feminists will always prevail. How is feminism "prevailing"? if they trust the vocal minority to speak for them, the minority opinion becomes the majority opinion. Indeed - do you think most feminists would agree with the insane feminazis you're referring to? If asked, would they be okay with this vocal minority representing them? I doubt it. Vocal minorities are not democratically elected.

I'm quite sure criminal laws in western nations have a concept of "proportional force" when it comes to self defense, in that no country has zero limits on how much force you can use to defend yourself. I'll go out on a limb and say that all those countries require you to be meet the threat of violence with equal or somewhat greater force, up to and including (edit: if you're met with) lethal force.
/r/MensRights22/12/19 12:50 PM

if "a reasonable person" has reason to fear for their life, lethal force can be considered self-defense. And a slap in the face is probably not going to fly as a "fear for your life", with obvious exceptions. Thank you for restating my point, dumbass.

The right wants to push the race-narrative because they think some are worse than others (inb4 some racist going "nonono, not worse or better, just different lol xDDD". Fuck off, I'm not buying it), and the left pushes the race-narrative because they want to help segments of the population that have been hurt collectively. I love multiculturalism It's fine, if the cultures make sense and are civilised. Edit: I should clarify slightly - if part of your culture says we should stone adulterers, hate gate people, judge individual people on the basis of their overall genetic background, not value free speech and other quintessential human rights, etc. etc. (and I will admit this is vague, but I believe an overall acceptance of human unity will carry us through all the philosophical problems this will result in) then yo…

Depends on the woman, the prenup, and the relationship. Yes, there are risks. Yes, there may be statistically greater risks for men. No, that doesn't mean you should never get married - it means you should be smart and look for the best woman/partner possible, which everyone should do anyway. People are shit. Not every individual is shit. Do your best to find the best possible individual you can to face life with for as long as you are comfortable. Don't write off women/partners altogether.

I don’t think anyone should totally swear off marriage. I’m not sure I’ll ever get there, but I think there’s s lot to be gained by expressing to the world that this is your partner in life, even if you can also just live that without sending any messages. TLDR don’t get discouraged just because some people are awful and exploitative.

What’s going on? You whined about being the target of more hated than a klansman in a black neighborhood everywhere when wearing a MAGA hat. That’s obviously hyperbolic, overly sensitive bullshit, so why are you acting like the person pointing that out is the sensitive one? I assume it’s just because you think people won’t notice your sensitivity if you point it out in others, but come on, this is too obvious. Not that I defend this woman, you’re just being kind of a bitch.

Well, she may not have the right, but she basically has the power. If women decided it’s masculine/sexy to pogo stick everywhere, that’s what people would do and define masculinity as. Besides, men don’t have “the right” to define femininity, but that doesn’t mean they have nothing to offer on the topic.
/r/MensRights29/01/19 09:58 AM

That might be correct, but even if we assume this is the case, the tendency is not very strong. It doesn't apply to enough women that it's impossible to get a good one. Sure, most women suck, but so do men. People just suck, and we have to try really hard to get someone who's only a little shitty.

There are more than plenty good women out there for you, if you just try a little. Many women might be insufferable cunts, but they do not represent womankind anymore than the awkward neckbeards who hate all women represent the men.

This is paranoid bullshit. The amount of women who maliciously does this is tiny. You can most likely trust a woman not to do this, and a woman can most likely trust you not to rape her. We shouldn’t be scared of each other just because they might be dicks.

/r/MensRights17/02/18 11:09 PM

Your condescension does not hide the fact that the question was completely moronic to anyone with half a brain. Men, human beings, have far more rights in the eyes of society than dogs. The fact that we greet and hug all dogs, and not all men, does not change this. Grow the fuck up.
/r/MensRights17/02/18 11:00 PM

So the masses dictate who’s an idiot and who isn’t? Try harder. Dogs barely have rights. Men, being human beings, do. No one will get particularly uppity if someone kills a healthy dog for no real reason, while it’s - painfully obviously - a legal matter if you kill a man. Is this some kind of joke? If so, good on you, but if you seriously think the point is valid you need to open your fucking eyes.

What an absurdly retarded question. Dogs can be owned and killed by the owner. They’re basically saves with incredibly limited rights.
