I'm not sure tbh, but either way I'm glad she did

Wow, that comment about 'would she have left you if she loved you for who you really are' hit me hard. Much like a ton of bricks, it really shows the problems and how toxic it became

That was the situation I was in. Emotional torture about guys and the guy she slept with before meeting me. They stayed in contact, she kept seeing him as a "friend" but then he made a move on her and since then all trust was gone.

I completely agree with this and it once again rationalises the whole situation. That's why I go to the gym, go for walks on the moors and like to spend my time outdoors

At least feeling like this after 6 months can be considered normal, you're all really putting things into perspective for me

I dont think I'll ever go back to her as theres a reason we became exes in the first place. If we did get back together then I'm certain it would just fall back into place and the cycle would repeat itself

Both really, I'm actively taking steps to improve myself (gym, hiking, cutting down on drinking etc) but it feels like a vicious cycle. I doubt I'll forget her but I'm hoping the pain goes away in time. The previous reply was correct. Self putty isn't the answer

Thanks for the reply, and it makes a hell of a lot of sense too!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
